DAVID WILKEY R.I.P. With deep regret we report the passing of a great Wetlook enthusiast. David Wilkey of Bath passed away 11th August with a suspected cardiac arrest. And so another pioneer departs the UK WAM scene. David was 75 years of age. He had been a printer. He was married for 21 years and is survived by Kate.
David was a very good friend of Roger Carpenter from Tenby who we sadly lost in 2019. Together they formed two notable WAM businesses being Artscene (David) and Aquantics (Roger).
Here is a listing of some of the videos produced by David Wilkey: SV1 Slimewave SV2 Desperately Soaking Susan SV3 Natural Born Messers SV4 A Nightmare on Gunge Street SV5 Mary Hell The Custard Case SV6 For a Few Dollops More SV7 Girlfish SV8 The Muckanic SV9 True Slime SV10 The Slapstick Avenger WV20 Hose Play WV19 A Midsummers Wet Dream WV18 The Wet Clothes Show Aquantics 91 SH1 Splash Hits These movies contain genuine fetish material with no XXX material.
The movies gave us a troupe of girls who were very happy to move from glam to WAM photography. Here is a listing of some of these girls: Mandy Smith Samantha-Jane Vicki Ford Louise L'Amour Joanne Roberts Rachel Stevens Gill Sampson Helen Hartley Anna Beeley Haley Perkins Anna Hay Jo Bache Karen Field Luna Winter Amanda Hughes Claudia Casali Melissa Tooke
David Wilkey did have a close association with WSM being our video cameraman for the production of our most famous movie WSM9 'Sex WSM' shot in 1998/1999. I did attend and assist at two of his shoots, one being 'the Muckanic'.
David Wilkey's own specialism lay with Wetlook. David was a master with his glamour models in swimming pools and waterfalls. But it went much further! He produced books and videos. And allied to this enthusiastic dedication he added paintings. For the last few years of his life he painted in the mornings whenever possible.
David's work covered a wide spectra including: Glamour (which he allied with WAM) Landscape Street Townscape Urban Decay Waterfalls Wildlife
So as you can see, David was truly artistic But sadly he was hindered by poor health. I can recall in 2012 he had kidney stones, in 2018 he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. His heart gave continual trouble so he had to take life gently. This is what he wrote to me last month on 24th July 2025: 'I keep blacking out just like my dad (breaking my arm twice a few years ago). I went to photograph the Bath Carnival on 12th July (his 75th birthday). I came too to find myself surrounded by 1st aiders and St. Johns. Two kind ladies helped me back to my mobility scooter parked a few streets away. Great fun.' I guess it shows the determination of the man not to let his disabilities ruin his life. Such an adventure he ranked as 'great fun'.
So it was a massive, massive blow to WSM with him passing! Last Update I had revealed 'OUR NEXT PROJECT'. This was to have been for WSM being appointed by David Wilkey to re-release the videos from Artscene and Aquantics, which had been withdrawn from sale for at least a couple of years together with the closure of his website. I would hope that by 27th September we are in a position to update this aspiration to the benefit of all WAM fans.
We salute our so talented colleague David Wilkey, who overcame such physical problems to hopefully leave an everlasting mark on the UK WAM scene. May he rest in peace after his life's labours.

I knew David well for over 30 years. We never met face to face but we chatted many times via email and letters and he was kind enough to send me VHS copies of his favorite tv and movie clips. David was an inspiration to me and many other wetlook fans in the 1980s, producing books, photos and videos about wetlook models that we had never seen before at that time.
A true ground breaker and a legend.
I was not able to catch any of his appearances on UK tv shows, but fans in Germany sent me these 2 German TV clips below from the mid 90s. I upscaled them to HD. It is easy to see why David was more popular on German tv and not seen much on UK tv, because even today these clips are too raunchy to pass inspection from the Youtube Police, but the tabloid shows in Germany were far more liberal and allowed naughty bits to be seem on their local tv.
As I could not upload these to Youtube, I uploaded them to our Topwam site instead. Here they are ...
RIP David... Those titles were legendary, especially to discover early on as a young man realizing I wasn't alone in the world with this goofy weird thing I was into.
I never met David but his work served as my introduction to wetlook videos in the early 1990s and for that I will always be grateful. Two of my particular favourites from that time (not listed above) were Wet is My Favourite Colour, which, among others, had a great scene with Charlotte, a model who seemed to be only around for a couple of years, being soaked with multiple buckets and Fully Clothed Bathing Beauties, which included a young Gilly Sampson. Two other wetlook videos I bought to add to the list are Wet Sonia and April Showers, the latter including multiple women under an artificial rain machine then later hosed down.
Of the SV videos I particularly remember Desperately Soaking Susan (a great title inspired by the Madonna film from the late 80s, Desperately Seeking Susan). This was almost feature-length and had a mix of wet and messy scenes (including a mud scene). "Susan" played by Gilly got very soaked and also messy in a series of scenes, along with her friends played by the likes of Jo Bache and Sammy-Jane amongst others.
I was able to transfer some of my favourite scenes from these videos to DVD but it would be great if they could be re-released in some form for those who never had the chance to see them in their original form. It would be an excellent lasting tribute to David and those who collaborated with him.
I met David several times in the 90ies in UK (and Roger too). he was always friendly and we had lovely discussions about wetlook and the emerging community. He was a great inspiration to mee. David was a great guy and will be sorely missed.
A true icon of wetlook indeed. I vividly remember seeing a review of his book 'Moving Pictures' in Mayfair which was a revelation to me. I purchased both that and his second book eventually.
Very sad to hear he passed away, my condolences to all.

It would be nice to see David and Roger's legacy of videos be preserved for the ages, We already lost the legacy of media from Rob Blaine and Bill Shipton, so it would be a great tribute to have David and Roger's legacy preserved.
I hope Mike's project can be started atter Sept 27th.
If you need help in remastering and upscaling the videos to full HD quality I will offer assistance.
Thank you Mark for your constructive comments. We all wish to preserve the legacy of David Wilkey and Roger Carpenter's wonderful WAM shoots. They were like two naugthy children trying to out-do each other with their imaginative WAM sketches often involving many girls! We are unlikely to see their likes again. But it is a huge treasure that must be retained for posterity. I will do my best! Mike Ellison WSM Productions www.wsmprod.com
Davids waterfall & river scenes are classy and sensual at the same time. The hilarious film "Muckanic" with a car explosion at the end and all girls getting so messy but having fun alltogether. That script exceeded my imagination Rest in peace, David
