Fun, mostly! As long as someone doesn't utterly hate the idea of being messy, it can be awesome fun to get all dressed up and then completely destroy yourself with mess, and even more so if you're doing it to a friend while she does it back to you. It's something very few people get to experience for real simply because of the amount of work involved in cleaning up after a session, but doing it for a producer in a dungeon / studio where you can easily get cleaned up afterwards, all the hard work is done for you, and the outfits and messy substances to use are all provided, make it a much more reasonable proposition for someone.

Knowing that it is a fetish for the viewers can also appeal to some models, they enjoy knowing that they're turning the audience on even if they aren't into it as their own kink. And then there will be some for whom it's part way between "just fun" and a full on fetish - a few of our regular models really enjoy the tactile sensations, and the mental "just letting go" of getting messy, and like that they have the chance to do it regularly. This particularly applies to mud - there is something very primal about just getting totally covered in mud and wallowing in it that really appeals to something deep down in lots of people. When I started out as a producer I imagined that mud would be the hardest sell to models, but in fact almost every model I've ever taken out to the mudbanks has raved about how much fun it is and how much they love the feeling of it.

I was a spectator at a messy contest once, and 2 young ladies walked up to watch. I overheard them each comment at around the same time. "Eww - that's so gross" and "Ooh, I'd love to do that".

That pretty much sums up how most people react to a messy scenario - they either are open to trying it, or they are not. As for those who are open to trying it, some will find it sexy, some just fun, some just tolerable, and a few totally loving it. Something as simple as the mess being too cold might turn someone off (or on) forever.

Certainly money would be a factor in the case of models for hire, but I hate when I see a model obviously hating the mess, but doing it because she was hired. It's far more fun to watch a video when the models are having fun.

Guess what else I love? Being able to afford to eat and put a roof over my head, which I can't do unless I get paid for the 8hrs I just spent shooting instead of working anywhere else. Nobody is becoming a millionaire by putting baked beans in their bra lmao, there are literally thousands of other fetishes that are much easier to create content for that don't involve making your hair stink of old dairy, and that are far, far more profitable.

There are a multitude of reasons why models do what we do, some like the aesthetic, some like the sensation, some genuinely get off on it, some do all sorts of modelling and aren't opposed to getting messy. All of those reasons are valid. So what if someone doesn't actually orgasm over the thought of beans poured on them? Does that somehow ruin the sanctity of WAM for you? Does that mean their art isn't valid or worth watching any more?

Sorry for the rant, but these conversations always feel really gatekeepery and strike me as similar to the whole "girls don't really like gaming, they just do it for attention/money" mindset. Have you guys considered that these sorts of threads may actively put women and models off joining UMD and the WAM scene because they don't want to be criticised for not seeming genuinely into it enough?

Yeah, you completly misunderstood my comment. I was speaking on what i see as a common delusion, that Wam models must have this kink, when in reality most do not. Most are motivated by profit, and THANK GOD for that. the pool of available models would be around 6 or so otherwise.

90% of the Models I hired did it because it was a gig they could get during the daytime. No bullshit.

But I do disagree that money is the biggest draw - in the UK at least, rates for shooting aren't anywhere near what you'd get for femdom/fetish/regular non kinky porn. I don't know a huge amount models who would class themselves as "having a WAM fetish" but there is certainly a shitload of stuff that they enjoy about it.

I mean yeah for a pro model payment is a factor, but there are more than enough 'clean' lingerie, nude, etc jobs they could be choosing instead and don't get paid any extra. In a full day of shooting it's a lot of extra work showering and getting camera ready over and over again with a lot of time pressure. This is explained to my models and they still choose it over 'clean' 'easier' jobs because it's fun

As to the question, as Candy and Penny have said and I mentioned further up, the answer is "because it's fun." While I do pay my models I'm sure they could probably find non-messy work that would pay the same or more, and they'd be able to do a lot more scenes in one day than the three or four, or if we start at 10am and keep going till 2am, occasionally five scenes that we manage to do.

Shooting a number of wam scene is serious work. First there's selecting the outfits, that always takes a few hours of trying on clothes and shoes till we get things everyone is happy and comfortable wearing, and that look good. Then there'll be at least half an hour of prep work before we can start shooting, opening containers of food and/or mixing buckets of gunge. Each shoot itself will take at least 45 minutes to do followed by at least half an hour of hose-down wash off at the end. People who've not done it tend to underestimate just how much hard work general modelling is - and that's without a steadily increasing amount of custard being poured into your clothes. Then there's the time needed for the producer to clean up and reset the dungeon, while the models dry off, grab some snacks, dress in their next outfits and do their makeup and hair, all ready to get trashed again - an hour between scenes is common.

So yes, models get paid, and rightly so, but the ones who chose to do WAM rather than lingerie or latex or plain nude do so because they actually enjoy getting messy. And personally, when watching scenes, it's that "joy of mess" rather than a specific "I'm getting turned on" vibe that I look for. Even when watching someone having gunge poured into her gym knickers, and even if she is getting off on it, I'm wanting to see her react "fun" as well as "sexy". Must admit I'd never thought of the gatekeeping aspect to it before, to me knowing that the model was getting off on what she was doing would be a nice bonus for her, but not the main thing I'm looking for in a scene.

I'd also like to add that having shot six scenes with Penny last Winter, two for Saturation Hall and four kinkier ones for Imperatrix Domina, she does fun-with-sexy incredibly well, and absolutely does genuinely like to be messy.

All of them charging money? I'm sure most of the wam producers are living their dream of getting beautiful women messy, or if they are the model, getting themselves messy on camera. But there is much more than just the supplies to consider, such as studio space, video equipment, and of course, the hiring of models.

I doubt that there are many who are getting messy in videos for the purpose of finding a perfect mate. There are relationships where only one person is a wammer, and others (like my own) where we both are. I highly doubt finding a wam mate is the motivation for any model who gets messy in videos. It is a business, yet a fun one. Expenses must be covered if more videos are to be produced.
