"White Pies Vs. Colored Pies: What's Your Preference?"

Hey guys, I've been appreciating your opinions on different WAM details over the last few weeks. It's definitely influenced my decision making with new shoots! So new question: what do you think about white pies versus colored pies? I specifically have whipped cream pies in mind, if that makes a difference in how you vote.
Since the secret is out about wam consumers being stupid picky, how about white cream pies with just a bit of colored filling? Just enough to add some color to the aftermath without throwing off the whole accumulation palette as it were.
That's my wife in the profile pic, not me.
Based on every pie customer ever:
--The "white pies only" people will not buy if you throw in even a SINGLE colored pie.
--The "colored pies" people will not buy if you throw in even a SINGLE white pie.
--The "whipped cream only" people will not buy if you throw in even a SINGLE shaving cream pie.
--The "shaving cream only" people will not buy if you throw in even a SINGLE whipped cream pie.
Basically, the solution is to shoot the exact same scene 4 different ways, to appease all four different audiences, who together will (hopefully) equal the sales you once were able to get from any ordinary pie scene, regardless of specifics.
(Oh, and of course, find a model willing to shoot the same scene 4 times for the cost of shooting 1 scene....
)

Makes me think you would rather be producing WAM in a communist state (just run with the premise for a second). There's only one option for a scene, and if you complain, it's off to the gulags!
I guess I prefer white pies? Something classic about it and that's generally what I use myself. But honestly, if the target gets well-covered and the pie is a good consistency, it doesn't really matter to me what color it is. I loved Pie Fight Girls and he typically used a mixture of white and colored pies, and I also really like a number of Dale Cooper's scenes where he used colored pies.
The only pies I don't like are the neon colored South American gameshow-style pies, but that could also be due to the fact that they have that thin and sticky consistency and I prefer a nice fluffy pie

While I'm mostly partial to the classic look of white cream pies, I do think that part of the fascination with WAM is how you can turn someone into a human canvas so to speak.
A long time ago I started a little thread about how I felt WAM had a sense or artistry behind it, and part of that revolves around using substances and colors in a more thoughtful and artistic mindset to create the most visually striking (and erotic) effect.
So experimenting with colors is an excellent example of how to turn WAM into art by creating a barrage of colors, helping to provide a sense of messy build-up as each color of pie remains visible and as it adds up it helps visualize the sense that this person getting pied is just under layers and layers of mess, which makes the scene more exciting.
But I still can't deny how amazing a clean white pie looks, but throwing some color into the mix always provides a sense of variety and changes the pace a bit.

Agree completely. At my core, I just want to see hot chicks pied -- and won't complain if the pie is bright blue. BUT, I prefer pies that look "real"-- I mean nobody eats a pie that is just fluffy white cream, but it seems like a real pie. Neil sometimes put cherries, etc. in the pies, which is a way to mix up the monotony of white. Chocolate, butterscotch, etc. can be used as well.

^^^I agree with everything Gaz and CKCP said above. What makes a scene exciting for me is a combination of a lot of factors:
how attractive the model is to me (a combination of her looks, personality, & comedic chops)
how much I like the setup and/or script of the video
how appealing the model's outfit is to me
how the model reacts to getting pied
how good the pie coverage is
type of pies used
These aren't in order of importance for me, but I would say the type of pies used in a video rank BELOW most of the other factors above in my overall happiness with a pie scene.
So while I DO have a strong preference for real pies over the more popular shaving cream pies and cool-whip-only pies, I have a pretty wide variety of favorite pie scenes and they certainly involve almost every type of pie you can imagine. Good example: I'm really not a fan of shaving cream pies in and of themselves, would much prefer any type of edible cream pie, but a few of the producers whose work I love the very most -- Mrs. Bee and (now long defunct) PieJinx -- have used all shaving cream pies or mostly shaving cream pies.
Just about my favorite type of pie is a real crust filled with pudding and then topped with a huge mountain of cool whip -- and when I say favorite, I mean for both seeing in WAM videos and for personal use. With the exception of one romantic partner who didn't dig the whole pie thing at all, my other partners have always quite enjoyed pie play when we used this type of pie. It's not only tasty, but it's also a very soft, safe, and super-sloppy pie for slapping into faces (provided you time the thawing of the cool whip right. Tip: If your pudding ends up on the too-runny side and you're worried it might splatter too much or not stick to the face enough, mix some cool whip into it to thicken it up.)
So what I really like most is a pie that is a combination of white and some other color that is "natural" to cream pies (i.e. NOT hot pink, fluorescent orange, neon green, fuschia, cerulean, chartreuse, etc.) If you HAVE to stick with a single color of pie, I'd rather have white than anything else, but I honestly find that a palette of ONLY white pies tends to be kind of visually bland.
I am a fan of coloured pies in general. Pievids & Pie Fight Girls got great results from those. I really liked the coloured pies you used in your Tara clip. I checked the clip, and it looks they had a white topping, but were mostly coloured "filling." What in fact were they?
In terms of shaving cream pies (which I am not a big fan of), I think I liked the coloured pies better than the white ones. The coloured ones in your clips were really good.
The use of the vibrant coloured pies is sort of trademark of your videos, so I would expect and hope to see them next time you did a real pies shoot.

Since you ask, generally I prefer not to see red or brown pies or red or brown gunge.
That said, it is not a hard and fast rule for me, it's more about how it's done.

Wow a lot of really well thought out comments here. Do other fetish groups have the ability to articulate their preferences as passionately as we do?
On the topic of pie colors, I obviously most relate with MarioFan64's comments, but I'm just as interested in the perspectives which are the opposite of my own, such as pieromaniac's. I totally get where you're coming from in terms of the believability of the pies. I would point out that colored pies DO exist, just in theatrical/TV productions which is or isn't valid depending who you ask.
Something that I found while doing all these shoots this year is you get kind of bored with your natural preferences. Tastes evolve. That's why I started dipping into whipped cream pies recently (love the formula I stumbled upon- room temperature Cool Whip piled high on plastic plates and delivered with a real SMACK). Still like me some nice, big SC pies (just wait for the next release with Julianne and Hannah
), but Cool Whip certainly has a place in my heart as well.
So while an over-the-top, neon, shaving cream pie barrage may be my signature, it's also fun to imagine writing with a different hand from time-to-time

I'm totally on board with this too. Those blueberry pies were definitely the sexiest, most delicious looking dessert you ever wore on your gorgeous face and all over your delicious body, Bee. The pic you posted above with your arms above your head is probably the best one to show off this type of pie (and has very deservedly earned its place as one of your "greatest hit" photos), but here are a few more scrumptious examples...

PieZone, in terms of this poll, I'm in the minority. I am an equal opportunity pie lover, not hung up on the great shaving cream vs whip cream debate; white vs. color. I like variety. What matters more to me is if the model is attractive and if the coverage is ample.
Pie filling is tricky to work with.... It's HEAVY, and it doesn't "mix" especially well with other fillings. And you're not gonna get heavy coverage as it tends to slide off quick, for the reasons above. That's why I've rarely used cherry or blueberry filling.... although, as SamIWAM's profile pic attests, the results were sometimes very good!
Pudding is my go-to for adding color/variety to white pies. It works well with either CW or SC, and the colors are natural (light brown for butterscotch, yellow for banana, dark brown for chocolate, etc). Plus the models think they're tasty!

I've done green pies as jokes (like a Kryptonite Pie for Supergirl) and the reaction was always bad, unfortunately. I do think people prefer natural colors. I'll still use yellow or pink pies if they're the Brazilian formula, since that aligns with the Chega Mais approach, and same thing with the "Bowl of Glop" too....

Bigshipper, weren't you pretty adamantly on the shaving cream side of that 'great debate' just a couple year ago? I could've sworn you were, but maybe my memory is playing tricks on me. Maybe you weren't exactly landing hard on the shaving cream side, but I'm almost certain I at least remember you mocking the real-pies-only crowd (not viciously though; you are always a gentleman. That plus some obviously excellent karma from a previous life netted you the WAM world's dream wife
.) I do think it's easy to come away from a conversation like this convinced that most pie fans have retreated to their corners, resolute on only liking one very specific thing. Certainly that's the way Rich tends to characterize the UMD, although I do realize he's using humorous exaggeration in the first of his two posts above, as he often does on these matters.
I think if you read all the comments above, though, you can see that while most fans have some kind of preference re: colored vs. white pies, most of us are also fine with (and in many cases even prefer) some amount of both being used. And some of us -- me, CKCP, Mrs. Bee, etc. -- have expressed a preference for pies that combine white cream and colored filling. (Which, check, if you've got a glass-half-empty worldview, you might choose to see as yet another "stupid picky" pie preference, as thedude18 put it.)
Actually, let's look at the raw numbers in the poll above. As I write this, the current total of people who want ONLY white pies or ONLY colored pies is 55, while the total of people who prefer a combination of both or don't care about pie color at all is 59. So the majority of respondents are actually fairly flexible on the whole colored vs. white pie issue!
Admittedly, if this were a real pies vs. shaving cream pies poll, I'm guessing that the dividing lines would be drawn more firmly.

.) Ha, it's quite possible. Like Walt Whitman, I contain multitudes...In all honesty, I have zero recollection of any 2 yr old debate. What I do remember is couple times coming to the defense of our old friend, ShavingCream Guy, who took a lot of shit. For me, any "holier than thou" stance (on pies, politics, religion, etc.), always ignites the contrarian in me. So it's very possible that I exaggerated my pro-shaving cream stance simply to balance the scales. Cards on the table, I like all good pies or variations thereof: from Rich's stellar cakes, Anglefan's chocolate creations, Lenny's buttercreams, PieZone's colorful and mondo (gonzo?) messes, through the gamut to the Moomin's double secret probation recipe.
Over the years, Mrs. Bee has received criticism for using shaving cream on shoots when in fact we used 100% real whipping cream pies! I should know cuz I made them myself. (1 qt. of heavy whipping cream=2 1/2 pies and 15min whipping work. Bigshipper hopes one day Santa will bring him an industrial mixer.)
But I totally understand that for some, their fetish is granular, highly attuned and laser focused, whereas others are generalists. Rich fucking tapestry, indeed.

Bigshipper, you are waxing so eloquent here...I love it! I also happen to love all the pie and cake creations you enumerate above, so I think I'm ultimately a generalist too, despite having some preferences within the field of possibilities.
And I'll wager myself way out onto the far end of a shaky limb here by saying that reading what you wrote above might even be a turn-on for Mrs. Bee ... she seems to be a woman who is very much into words! (Brains, beauty and brassy, sassy sex appeal never came wrapped together in such a spectacular package!)
And just as with your wife, Bigshipper, the more I learn about you, the more my admiration for you as a person grows. Bee once referred to you as "the most laid back person, ever" but I gotta say I'm glad to know that you are vast enough to contain multitudes, including a feisty contrarian. (I use that Whitman quote all the time myself; may be the handiest metaphorical get-out-jail-free card ever! I also like "I effuse my flesh in eddies and drift it in lacy jags," but that one always just leaves people scratching their heads and asking me if I am feeling feverish.)
