In that thread, BrookeMaddison said how she likes to get dressed up perfect before getting messy. I am of the same mindset, I like seeing a perfect outfit get destroyed. Little details like a run in a stocking bother me, which is insane when you think about it... If an outfit is soon to be covered in mess, why should a run in a stocking bother me?!?! But it does! As an example of my own madness, I actually took the time to steam the wrinkles out of Andi's formal gown before sliming her yesterday . This got me wondering, what kinds of seemingly crazy things do other people do when it comes to WAM?
In our last home, we converted an unused room in the basement into a WAM room, even including a couch and a makeshift gunge shower. There was also a normal shower and a large hose for easy cleanup. It was tons of fun sploshing there. Since we moved into our new home, we have yet to find an adequate replacement for this.
We also really like to dress up before getting wet or messy. Of course, there is also the spontaneous fully clothed shower or a little whipped cream battle. But the contrast between all prim and proper (nice clothes and shoes, hair and makeup done, jewelry and other accessories) and getting totally trashed is part of the fun.
I'll often dress up in fleece or a onesie for my session. Makes for lots of interesting clothes filling potential. Looking to explore combining this with bondage too when circumstances allow.
Oh we are definitely big on having hair, makeup, and outfits perfect before we shoot. I've tossed shirts in the dryer to de-wrinkle them before a shoot. Heck, last week I opened up a new sheet out of the packaging and quick cycle washed it to get the hard wrinkles out before we used it as the backdrop for that afternoon's shoot.

I've been known to change several times before settling on what to wear. Either I'm just not feeling it that day, don't like the way I look, shoes may not be dry yet, whatever. Everything needs to look absolutely right or I feel weird and sometimes annoyed. Then again I do that half the time before going out anyway so maybe it's just me being normal.
Also I try to make sure what I'm wearing is compatible with whatever is getting ready to be dumped on me. It's fun going out later in something nice that was completely covered in all kinds of things and being the only one who knows about it.
The one normal thing is that a lot of the time I'll use makeup I don't like so much so I can use it up faster.

I totally get this, why bother dressing up if you cant be bothered to look perfect

Nothing wrong with that, I've often been frustrated by complete lack of attention to detail in scenes, for starters if something obviously visible is wrong, it sends a message that whoever filmed it didn't actually care about what they were doing. Laddered tights are a very obvious example, the only time that'd be acceptable would be when the wearer is playing a punk/alternative character in deliberately ripped stuff, or as a resulty of damage inflicted during the actual WAM process. We've had people accidentally ladder tights while putting them on - they (the tights not the people ) go in the bin and a fresh pair are taken.
In a similar vein, there are tracksuit trousers with zip pockets where the leg stripes go either side of the pocket. So leaving it unzipped results in it gaping and spoiling the line. How can the photographer not see that, pause the shoot, and tell the models to do their pockets up? The little details matter and should always be checked and re-checked before rolling cameras.
We do lots of casual and industrail-wear shoots, but even when the models are in overalls and wellies, the clothes and boots will always be pristine, freshly laundered and completely clean at the start of the scene, the only time someone would wear something that's already a bit mucky is if it was deliberate to fit a specific storyline.
I totally get this. I always put huge attention to detail into my outfits prior to wallowing in mud! Just wearing old clothes or scruffy stuff doesn't cut it for me. WAM is 99% about the outfit for me!
Another vote from me for making sure the outfit is pristine before sploshing. I'll usually have a shower and freshen up after preparing everything too And then totally trash it all!
