Our payment processor, Epoch, has just announced that they have added Paypal to their list of checkout payment options. That means that you can now use Paypal to make your purchase on any of the UMD stores. Just check out normally, and the option will be there.

Still is. I am honestly as surprised as you are. But Epoch is a huge and stable payment processor that's been around for years, and they have struck up an agreement with Paypal to be able to accept them along with the other options.
Gathering from the rules sent to us, Paypal is making it clear that this venture is distinct from their normal money transfer services: They are adding their backend service to the others already offered by the Epoch company. Perhaps it was attractive to them because Epoch already does their own fraud screening (hence why we can't accept Paypal directly). Plus this was only offered to our account because our reputation is stellar and chargebacks nearly nonexistent here (thank you guys).
I welcome more questions. If I don't know, I'll ask my man over at Epoch.
Holier than thou zealotry, meet one of the most profitable industries on the planet, I'm sure you will get past the cognitive dissonance for profit to win out the fight.
Well, I guess that makes perfect sense -- Epoch becomes the fig leaf of respectability that lets Paypal take a cut of big-time porn sales while continuing to give itself the right to steal money from any of the little guys who dare to use it for adult transactions. Capitalism!

Paypal has made partnerships with other adult content sites before. They were the sole payment option for the softcore nude site zivity.com but then suddenly ended that partnership. I think it's nice to have paypal as an option here but I'm not confident they will actually stick around.
Yeah, We have been taking Paypal for around a year on Messy Angel... European sales only though.
Paypal were using this as a trial prior to going live worldwide. Just remember its only thro a large Payment Processor so dont go trying it individually for now.
Yes, this are good news. We are experimenting with PayPal on a German site at the moment, too and I can tell you that sales will rise not only a little bit. Hope they will stay. Greetings Aqua
They key with paypal is not to leave a balance. I hear horror stories about "they limited my account with $12,000 in it."
Nope. I've had PP for over 10 years and process a lot through my business. Every day I transfer to my bank. I like to leave about 10 whopping dollars in there.
PP might be getting soft on some softcore stuff or things like non-nude WAM which can be argued isn't "adult" or "adult enough" to raise concerns, but by no means would I be comfortable selling XXX WAM; full nudity, sex acts, etc...

With all the money they'll be making, they can run out and buy new morals.
Hopefully it's not some crazy bait and switch. Here, let us know what your up to, and everyone who does business with you....then freeze everyone's money.
Greendot cards have changed recently, so maybe PP is realizing the serious shit load of money they are missing out on. This being you can only refill greendot cards in person or use a paypal cash card. I have been wondering about this, since a customer asked how to send me 400$ easily and I could only find the newer paypal cash cards.
If not covered in frosting, are you really living?
Sadly Epoch isn't accepting my Paypal, I only have a Visa card assigned to my Paypal, but the Epoch Paypal page requires me to add a Mastercard/ Discover/ Maestro. (I wanted to use the Paypal option because my cc provider keeps blocking Epoch payments)

Sorry to hear that. Epoch still does their hyperactive (for good reason) fraud screening for all transactions. False positives are not rare. Looks like something ultimately is up with your Visa card, but I do not have your personal CC information. Please contact epoch.com directly if you want more of an explanation, or contact me if I can answer any other questions for ya.
That's funny, because the one the one thing I like about epoch is how they really let you stay anonymous. I enter my VISA, and all the rest of the details (name, address, phone number) I put in gibberish. Never had an issue, they charged my card and everything was good.
Paypal on the other hand... your full name and email address is tied to your account for both the buyer AND seller to see. It's honestly a little disconcerting. My email + my full name is more than enough to identify me.
On the other hand, Epoch charges a FORTUNE compared to PayPal, literally their merchant fees are something like 15 percent. That's highway robbery!
I really wish there was a straightforward, anonymous method of payment that only cost the merchant like 1-2% fees. It would help a lot of people. Because at this rate we're basically handing the entire profit margin to Epoch.

It is a fortune and it comes out of the 30% fee that we take, along with hosting and everything else. But let me tell you, it's worth it. Not only for the fraud screening but for them being around forever and not disappearing like iBill and so many others. Plus my m.o. here is to take and store the least amount of your personal info as possible, because honestly I don't want to deal with the liability of having it on the server. They are the pros at handling that so I am glad they're there despite the high price.
wait.. Paying with Paypal in new? I thought one could ALWAYS purchase using Paypal.. I've been telling my customers that for years, (Which explains why they always say they couldn't.) whatever.. I've never purchased a single download anyway.
Just tried the PayPal method of payment, and it's so much easier for me, no need to keep on putting in card details when buying vids. Love this addition
