Does anyone happen to know how exactly HOW the wammer of the day scores are generated? What is considered a good score or not? How positive attention is attained and or what that is? And what is misbehaving and why a score would go down because of it. I mean, then essence of getting messy IS misbehaving so I would think the WOD score would go up! And what community decides this? I dont see any links to join such a community or who it consists of anyways. Could this be something maybe all UMD members could have access to or at least see a list, or ranking including each persons score? I think that would be something that could garner a lot more interest for current account holders and who knows...maybe just maybe bring in more visitors and create future wammers. Because looking at the sites traffic stats something has to be off. First off, its the same stats as was 5years ago and if im supposed to believe that out of 18000 visitors a day that 13000 of those visits are unique? At that rate, UMD would be one of the big boys and there could actually be potential for endless money to be made by the entire "community". But what am I to expect when there is zero transparency from any administrators at all. I mean, its as if we are all children still afraid to share our WAM fetish because were too shy to ask WHY IS IT THE SAME WAMMERS OF THE DAY? DAY AFTER DAY? Besides the obscure, non-model, non-producer, non-heart clicker, that is what I have observed for years! Which reminds me, what kind of influence does a heart click make towards the WOD algorithm, if there even is one. Heart clicks...smh lol How about something new Messmaster. Anything new Messmaster. Lets grow the "community". Not grow old in this so-called "community"... A good start? I have one. Trash the wammer of the day and replace it with growing and increasing the population of wammers by creating something like "most proactive wammer (and/or wammers) of the week. A reward or accolade going to those who reffered the most people, uploaded the most pictures, most videos, made the most comments, mentioned the most producers, models, sites, stores, etc... Hell you can even leave in most heart clicks. Maybe create a list of the "misbehaviors" and have the community "clean them up". You know, like take away their virtual messy substances so they are squeaky clean and not allowed with the messy, dirty, naughty likes of those who continue to evolve the WAM population to a level like other fetishes have done and brought those fetishes into the mainstream and everyday vernacular. Anyways, for now I will keep my fingers crossed and hope the 390,000 unique visitors a month will happen to stumble upon my content and click some hearts. But only if they do it non-contentiously and without malice. Last thing the community would want is having to deal with a messy sitiuation, RIGHT?
I think we need to make the current community more welcoming more than anything else. WAM & sploshing isn't all that wild of a fetish when you really think about it, most of us just take it farther than the average Joe or Jane, but I feel like sometimes we make it hard for people to feel comfortable and grow into being a member of the community.
IMO the ideal thing for this WAM community would be for us to treat it as a place were we can make friends and chat with others who share similar fetishes in a calm and sex-positive way. Even though this is online, we should still think about how we would act if we all ended up in a room together. When someone new comes in, it wouldn't make sense to hound them for conversations of pictures or roleplay, we'd let them acclimate at their own pace. That type of positive behavior and acceptance of people is what we should strive for.
As for WOTD, I agree that it is hard for some of us to get to that award without being a big producer or something like that, but I feel like the award is meant to highlight someone that does positive things within the community that everyone can get behind and enjoy (such as pictures and videos, which get hearts.) But at the end of the day, a site like this is largely a place for us to share our fetish, not compete with each other for who is the "best." That doesn't take anything away from the WOTD award, it's just a bit of context that I like to keep in mind to help me enjoy my interactions on here.
WotD is just a bit of fun, nothing wrong with it and it doesn't mean much. I don't even look at it.
What you are proposing 'sounds' ok until you realise that require coding that could screw up the whole forum, and also if anyone were to take it seriously, then they would just spam the forum with individual posts, or 1 word comments, or so many photos it slows everything down.
Nothing wrong with proposing new ideas mind, all for that so thank you.
I'm about as small-time as they come, 100% amateur. And, from memory, I think I've been WOTD on two occasions. I'm not a big fan of what you're suggesting as I feel it would foster "artificial" behaviour just to achieve some kind of arbitrary "power up". Problematic interactions can be a real issue here anyway so let's not have a reason to ramp them up please.
I think WOTD is pretty fair for what it is - and that's an indirect popularity contest and it's very transparent these days. Anyone who has switched their profile to 'public' is eligible. By definition any popularity contest will create the illusion of an 'elite' minority. So, if it's not your bag, you are entitled to ignore it (I've never heard of anyone refusing to accept it, however).
Anyone who signs up to UMD becomes part of the 'community' for want of a better word. Once you've signed in, you have a vote - every time you click a heart.
Yes, some people win it over and over again on consecutive days - but that's because people are hearting their pictures and comments. Interest in people tends to snowball. But it also inevitably comes to an end at some point.
There have been suggestions made to 'engineer' the system away from these outcomes, but this effectively corrupts it, does it not?

Great post, Trouso.
One small fact-check (and I apologise if I am wrong on this) .
My understanding is that it's impossible to win it on consecutive days now. MM brought in that tweak, to ensure the same person can't win day after day.
As a more general reply to the OP
As others have commented, if MM openly revealed the WOTD secret sauce, it would be open to manipulation and artificial behaviours. .
Whereas now, even if someone wanted to rig it, there's no way to know what interactions carry what weighting in MMs special algorithm, specifically designed to ensure a variety of people win.
Of course Messygirl will win it more often than Joe Bloggs..but that reflects the huge popularity of their content, rather than any grade 1 conspiracy...and what's great about WOTD is plenty of 'everyday' wammers *do* win it, as mentioned by the poster above.
and even Messygirl, who won the accolade more than anyone last year, won it fewer than once every 9 days on average.
Finally, as many have said, it's meant to be light hearted and fun.
I appreciate everyones replies and, I agree. After re-reading what I posted I think I mis-spoke on exactly where my frustration lies, An its not frustration, its more like pissed off lol Its also a lot personal but I know every wammer can relate because its what we all have gone through and im assuming a lot of you/them still are. Its the fear/shame/confusion/ of others "finding out" that "getting messy" is a sexual turn on. Because it is. There is no getting around that the feeling of wet and messy sexually turns us wammers on. However, I think its kind of a disservice to include in our definition, or explanation of such to include the word messy. That is what always throws people off and completely shuts down any possibility of understanding where it come from or why. Which is all pretty petty. We shouldnt have to ever explain anything to anybody ever no matter who "we" is or what "them" it is. But, we do. And lets face it, we have to. So that being said, I personally think that the WAM community is in unchartered territory because our turn-ons, if conveyed correctly, most, if not all humans in some way/shape/form also are turned on by the same exact things we are.
Think about it. Water feels good to the skin. Water is wet. Our body is mostly water. Before birth we exist in an environment of complete water, or wetness if you will. I will say that again. HUMAN BEINGS ARE ATTRACTED TO WATER, FROM WATER, HAVE EXISTED IN WATER AND WATER FEELS GOOD TO TOUCH. It feels good on our skin. So the skin that holds this vessel together that we call the body is not only our largest organ, it is nerve endings and what feels good, well, it feels good! And since water is wet to the touch, ALL HUMANS (for the mostpart) LOVE THE SENSE OF FEELING WET ON THEIR BODY. I challenge anyone to find a person wo claims they dont like the ocean or a pool or a jacuzzi. Even those who havent learned to swim enjoy all of those messy places. Or, find me someone who doesnt absolutely love a good bath or shower especially when a dirty body needs it the most.
Seriously, dont laugh out loud too hard to my words lol because Im not done. Here is what sets our small community apart from others... Its the fact that we love the sensation of getting wet so much we will go to any length to try out all types of wet so much and that we experiment with ALL wets that exist. To the point of it being so out of the norm that its refered to as "messy". And, it can be, lol and I love it. But heres the thing, how is cleaning a mess up any different then toweling off after a shower???? Its the same thing. But us wammers want the extreme feelings of all nerves, all nerve endings feeling an existential extacy to the point of orgasm. And when explained that way to others who dont know of such possible feelings, its not that we are weird or got issues, its simply the fact that most have not experimented with the parameters of possible feelings on, and of the skin that we all feel.
I am saying all of this with confidence because if witnessed it. I have shared my love of wam and how it exists sexually within me and seen people drop their jaw and say "oh my god that sounds sexy as fuck I want to try that!" The first time i heard that i didnt believe it. And that is because I know I was born with this "fetish." Yes I know its sort of not and sort of is a fetish but, for as long as i can remember I have had an affiliation with sensational feeling on my skin. I just never thought that sharing with another had the possibility of creating a new member to our community.
And so, my fellow wammers, all you messy people and those who love being humiliated and/or just feeling wet and horny... DONT BE SHY, AND DONT BE ASHAMED... And for all of us who are wammers of the day everyday i say to you lets share our feel goods with the world and proudly say to the uninitiated... Try it, u might not just like it, u might love it like we do!!!

Dude, the two topics of your original post and this one have nothing to do with each other. How can you mis-speak about it?
With WotD it is a popularity contest. I want to say there has been manipulation of that back in the Messy Jessie days. WotD has also been a way for people on the forums to show appreciation to the producers who's content we enjoy.
With your second topic, it sounds like a lot of your frustration circles around the cultural taboos of sex. I don't think I have ever discussed my fetishes with someone I wasn't in a relationship with. To me that is none of anyones business. To me it is a natural course of a relationship to discuss feitshes. There is nothing wrong with not being into a fetish that your partner has. People do not just have one fetish. I have dated people with fetishes all over the spectrum. I had to tell one partner that I could not participate with them in their fetish, they had a blood fetish. They had other fetishes that I did participate with them in and we still had a great relationship. You both have to communicate and trust your partner enough to not judge you over things you cannot control.
I think that WOTD is great fun and just fine as it is. You have to post lots of new stuff and it's great to get "likes" and comments. I got to No 41 last year, which is OK for an older man in wet trunks and t-shirts! The way the system works is clearly explained, https://umd.net/about_us and, as it says, don't take it too seriously. Peter
