"UMD too strict, too woke"

This used to be a cool place at one time. I left for a long time and then came back. I should have stayed away. It's too strict and too woke here now. This place is for Dem libs which I'm not. Goodbye.

Ought of curiosity, in what way? Most of the strictness is rules from the financial people, nothing to do with political views, and those rules came about because certain large tube sites refused to do anything meaningful to stop anonymous users uploading rape videos of children, over and over again, until MasterCard forced them to.
And "woke" just means "treating others with respect and being aware of privilege", which my mum, born in the 1930s, would have called "politeness", "awareness", and "decency". Never have understood why people think that's a bad thing?

Precisely. I don't go for the buzz words but I typically just say "Be a good human". Seems to get the message across.
He had a post deleted earlier and that's probably what he is upset about. I mean, "no kids or anything that could create the misconception of illicit activities on this site" seems to be a common rule in many forums and to be honest, I wouldn't want to be in a forum where it wasn't.

I would rather be on a site that protects children/minors by deleting posts than interacting with paedos.
I would rather be surrounded by those that stand up for others, showing empathy and common decency.
This site has only improved in the 24+ years I have been here, which is a bit longer than the 8 months you have.
But if it's any help, people like you won't be missed and will be forgotten in...oh, we all ready have.

I've had enormous fun meeting other people, even on holiday, and for example, playing in the pool! Would this ever have happened without being polite and respectful? Fun is not fun unless it's fun for everyone involved, and you can make that true of fantasies as well.

The term "woke" as an insult (before that, it was "SJW") loses all legitimacy when you consider who it comes from. Especially when the people who use these terms are constantly triggered over everything that doesn't conform to what they think people should be (ie. straight white Christian conservative). Violet used snowflake in jest to describe herself, but it's people like Deplorable who are the real snowflakes (or, hear me out...Cheeto flakes).

This. We have to remember that using "woke" like that is originally meant to mock AAVE, where it comes from. It is now a slur to use it like that and people know exactly what they're doing when they say it. If anybody you respect or follow uses dog whistles like that, you may need to reevaluate your allegiances.
