It seems to have faded from style but does anyone else love the pre-pie shock look? I'm assuming that came from Doodmon, he seemed to have them all do it. Anglefan used to make his models do it, but since stopped. Amber did it, and I think MJ and maybe Stacy did it inadvertently. But I feel the best at it was Alexia. She mastered the combination of shock, surprise with a touch of dread. Here are a few of my favs, and a few other great faces, feel free to chime in with yours. I'm missing the photos from her living room scene where she got pied twice and then slimed in a living room chair, she did the face there but I no longer have that scene.
Wow, circa 2003 here! I always loved Alexia's reactions and shocked expressions. Such a gorgeous model!
My inspiration for those reactions came from Doodmon but also from watching messy shows as a kid. Yes, I used to "coach" them but having more organic reactions foster throughout a shoot works well, too. These days I simply pull up some YouTube videos to show as demonstration and then have them wing it. Can't really go wrong with either direction but it ultimately comes down to how good the talent is that you're working with. RandyQuaid, awesome selection of pictures!
Regis, I have to believe actual Randy Quaid is into much darker shit than Wam.
Ken, do you have any old Alexia photos you can share with us? This old shoot and her 'lost shoot looked amazing, but they weren't available for very long. Also, I assume she isn't modeling 14 years later, do you still keep in touch with her?

It's a good point. The open mouthed horror..BEFORE the pie lands is relatively rare. Pandora Blake seems to be pretty good at capturing it..when she comes to shoot again in September, I must make sure we do more of this as I agree with you..there's something great about it.
The girl by the chainlink fence is actually Tera, from a video or two after that Alexia video. It's a great shocked look, and she actually sells the acting on it not being planned. It's of the same era of those Alexia videos, when almost every actress did that look in his videos.
The shocked look still happens... I personally don't screen cap it that much tho. I'm sure if you go back 8 or 9 years to my early stuff you can find a lot more examples. I never liked to "coach" it though... That looked really fake to me. The more natural surprise is much better IMHO.
I think Carrie did it pretty regularly... She picked up on the whole idea of exaggerating her reactions. And nowadays Bri has a new variation: The "Pre-Cake Dread" look.

100 % agree. I love the natural surprise look. When it's over-coached, it reads really weird. Takes me right out of a scene. The same as when a girl gets hit and overreacts to that.
Astagale: Where is your second gif from? The blonde covering her face. It looks Anglefan. Do you know a name or number for it?
