This was a "long lost" video that went unreleased for years, featuring Mai and Maria. Back in 2007 we did an interesting thing at Pied Asian Girls: we let Mai and Maria each write and direct their own scene. Mai came up with "The Eye Test, " which is a slapstick comedy short, while Maria came up with this one, "The Dinner Party."

This scene is pretty strange, because Maria originally intended for it to be a music video! So, it was shot with the idea that dialogue and sound would probably be scrapped, and lots of strange images were shot (juggling fruit, playing the ball-and-cup game, etc.) in a random order, with the idea being that we would create a montage to music. However, we felt that we hadn't shot enough images to create a long and interesting montage, so our dream of creating a music video got put on the back burner until we could do a little extra shooting.

And it sat on the back burner for over five years!

By the time I dug out the footage again, Maria had long since returned home to Australia, so I did away with the music video concept and edited it together in a much more "raw" form. It's a bit like a comedy sketch, except there's no scripted dialogue--and there's no story! It's just two girls having a crazy, messy dinner party. A dinner party where nobody eats and all the attendees have a pie-in-the-face fetish. A dinner party that ends up in the bathtub with a lot of slime.

But what I ended up with is pure Pied Asian Girls material: two girls having fun, saying crazy crap while pieing and sliming each other, with me behind the camera throwing in my two cents and laughing. It's perfect.
