I just need to figure out editing, camerawork, how to get models to star in my scenes, lighting, sound, and cleanup. Not to mention how to do this without friends and family knowing.

My view? Tell them. I mean what's the harm in liking to see people get messy? And if it's kept secret, you'll be forever worrying that someone is going to discover it and out or blackmail you over it. But you can't be blackmailed for what's already in the public domain. Plus, if someone really has a problem with you indulging a harmless kink, are they really someone you want in your life anyway?
Awesome chair! Tempted to get one for our dungeon, there are lots of fully clothed messy options that could be played out there. Squelch!
The longest journeys always begin with just one step. This is great news! I can offer my editing skills if they are ever needed. I'm not pro level but I do quite a lot for my job. Best of luck!

There are many reasons not to tell someone, everybody is in different circumstances. I can tell friends but not go public due to my job. Others can't tell friends due to potentially being ostracised. It's not simply a case of "Get over your fears" when the reality could be much worse.

I wasn't so much thinking "get over fears" more "beware the realities of being a producer". A consumer can indeed keep everything private and quiet. But once you start hiring and paying people, etc, leaving a financial paper trail, the information is going to start to be out there, even if just a little at first. Once someone becomes a producer hiring models, it's simply not possible to maintain quite the same level of anonymity or privacy as previously. So it's an important angle to consider in amongst everything else.
Yeah, I'm gonna call a not follow through. If your list of things you need to do is everything (including get supplies) other than getting an inflatable, your fears have already been stopping you. I will say, being someone outed by his ex to his direct extended family and work. Really nobody cares. We have the most innocuous kink, and most people shrug it off. And I have a very conservative family. They took my side. Have faith in humanity. We only think it is a mountain of struggle because it is so important to us. Most other people don't actually care. So let go of that fear. We don't do anything illegal, or even disgusting. It is just weird and silly. Embrace it I you wanna be a producer, or it will be your biggest blockade, especially finding models. Confidence sells. Don't let your imagination shame yourself out of your passion.

Well I'm thinking something basic to test out models and then something like HGD on the popular ones. But I also might stay away from stuff I like since I don't want to ruin it.
I am totally new to this so I don't know what everything costs and all that stuff, so I'm sure it will evolve as I figure out the market and the landscape.
The main purpose of this is to get more money to fund more customs.

That's easy, just kill your family and friends. MWHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

I would help you dispose of the body. There are enough places in my state to hide things they will never be found. Hell I would even help you acquire them, take them to where I would bury them and leave them with a cooler full of water and a couple of crustables. They aint getting out alive and you can honestly say they were alive the last time you saw them.

First of all congrats on taking that first step.
For some practical advice: take a workshop or online course for lessons. 14-day filmmaker is one I know that covers the basics quite well, with access to a very helping community.
About getting rid of the mesa, get one of those special vacumes that also suck up water, it's been a life-saver for me.
About getting models; simply go to moddeling sites like purpleport. You can filter on models willing to do fetish work(and in my experience, most have done things they think is stranger than WAM), and write a long message explaining the shoot. I'll send you my 'standard' letter in pm.
Two more difficult points: I know how heavy the weight gets if you try to keep this a secret. In my opinion being open about it is essential to becoming a producer, even if you don't want to make your day-job out of it. Of course, it's easy for me to say as my environment is very accepting.
One thing that sends a bit of a chill down my spine is 'I might stay away from stuff I like because I don't want to ruin it'? What do you mean by that?

I recommend doing a Google search: "break even" site:umd.net (That will work better than the built-in site search.)
Basically, a lot of producers have said that they barely turn a profit on their videos, because so few people buy them. Their best case scenario is to cover their costs, so that they can afford to make the stuff that they want. So, in your case it would make sense to film the stuff you like, so that you can give direction to make it exactly right for you. Alternately, if you just want to earn extra money to pay other producers, it would probably be more effective to take on a second job.
It can be a bit of a minefield. For example with group shoots, some models will demand more money than others for the same work, leaving you with a choice of paying everyone the extra amount and then not being able to afford the shoot, or paying one more than the others and praying the others don't find out.
