so, first day shooting out of the few I had....first day? GONE. so, i am shipping this sd card to a data recovery center in montana as we speak.

Im having it done for the "two week emergency" bc some of my customers could really give two shits less that this is going to cost me 1299 IF data is recovered. could i reshoot it? no. i cant. i have these days and then they are gone. I am home schooling. THIS is what I am talking about when i say, it is REALLY HARD TO BE A PRODUCER RIGHT NOW!

so, those vids? guys. its two weeks turnaround time. im mailing it out today. they have two weeks after they get their hands on it to have it done. they may get it done earlier. who knows.

support your producers and their fucked up (new sd cards that fuck up, only used this one maybe twice??)

I've never heard of an SD card melting down. But I guess that's why some cameras have two slots.

What make is your camera? Can it record to an external hard drive as well?

I have tried all of these things...and my camera is a brand new sony handycam 4k, bought in january. brand new off the shelf. I have literally tried everything you can think of even downloading recovery services. this needs to be handled by professionals. there is nothing more i can do. i have cried and cried. and tried and tried. my camera does not have two slots for sd cards.

People/customers are giving you a hard time over that? Unless I'm misunderstanding what you meant by saying that some of your customers could give two shits, but if that's the case, then they're some real assholes!

Not trying to shit on anyone, or have anyone catch feelings because I'm sure they'll see this, but come on...you're really gonna give someone a hard time because their SD card took a shit? I know times are tough right now and you have to take customers/business wherever you can, but once things are back to normal, if I were you, I would never do business with them again!

Shit happens, and unforeseeable things occur, fuckin relax and be understanding, (and I'm not saying this to kiss ass or anything like that) especially with someone like Jayce who's been around for a long time and obviously isn't gonna scam people out of what they ordered, that's just a really shitty way to behave just in general

this is why i chose the 2 week rush shit......which cost me more but i could have chosen the one day rush shit which would have been like 3 grand. and honestly? i almost did bc of being scared of customers.

I 100% understand times are tough and business is down (obviously everywhere and in a ton of different areas, not just the WAM market) but imo you're going above and beyond what you should of and needed to, if people can't understand their order is gonna take a little longer than expected because of a freak occurrence, tough shit! You have a solid reputation, I'm sure orders aren't always like that and you wouldn't tell them they'll have it at a certain time and then out of the blue say its gonna be a little longer

And if it was gonna really take THAT long because of the SD card situation, and they wouldn't take no for an answer, I'm sure they could have been compensated in SOME way, get a free download of a certain price range, take 5-10 bucks off the cost, something to that effect, I know people think you have to be an asshole and raise a stink to get your way, but being cooperative and nice to the people you're doing business with, in my experience, usually goes farther and its worth it in the long run, just my opinion

thank you so much for saying all these things. it is an issue i have really toyed around with posting the whole "hey guys. stuff maybe you shouldnt say to us....or hey guys we dont HAVE to respond to rude messages....." BUT ALAS. if i say anything to even HELP customers communicate...? im seen as being a bitch. when im really not. i am so so so so grateful for every single person here. producer, customer, lurker......everyone contributes. hell, even people rude to me teach me something!

and lemme tell ya. when you tell someone what it is costing you and how you have ran around all day trying to figure out what to do and you are working so hard to get it for them? and they say "oh man i thought i was gonna get it today" literally like 2 days after you shot it?? it can be a real fucking bummer to your soul. :/ can atleast say "hey thanks for going out of your way and spending money you dont have" but you know. wish in one hand, shit in the other..... i wont stress until they call me and tell me im fucked. until then.?? wish these guys in montana good luck! the card will be in their hands tomorrow! they have two weeks to see if they can extract what i need!!! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo!!!

Damn that sucks Jayce, but stay strong. Hope the footage is recovered successfully. Turnaround time be damned, saving the lost footage is all that matters at this point and you're handling the situation pretty well

I think this would be a really useful thread. I have a hard time understanding where producers are coming from sometimes. I can post a similar thread from a customer point of view because there's stuff producers do that I find annoying as well.

For my part, do not panic. PC's have things called Read Only memory (ROM) built in. What you had there was a WOM (Write Only memory).
Personally, I'll wait for a week or two to see what happens. I've had loads of good stuff from you over the years. I think I can allow you one missed video.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, but these SD card recovery peeps are about to get a HELL of a surprise, and who knows, maybe you will gain more fans
