I'm interested in how the community divides in it's attitude to Wam as comedy. For me, a lot of the erotic thrill is derived from the comedic elements of traditional slapstick - the pratfalls, the reactions, the roles played (eg. The snobby customer getting her cummupence, the clumsy sales assistant etc) - these are all a big part of the turn-on for me, whereas I feel like most people are mainly into the mess for it's own sake - how it looks and feels on the body I guess?
Definitely slapstick. For me, and many others, it's a throwback to a time when it was pretty much the ONLY way to see a pretty woman messy. i. e. Comedy films and game shows (the only exception being mud wrestling, which was always a thing)
To me it depends on the scene. I've just edited, for future release on the Imperatrix Domina store, a scene we shot last Autumn with two of our girls in a very sexy "make out" scene, with lots of fondling, consensual groping, kissing, etc. No element of comedy in that, instead it's very sexual and sensual. On the other hand the scene with Chastity and Friday pushing each other over in the mud we released the photos of to Langstonedale last week is far more comedic, and in the past I've shot scenes that turned into all-out comedy that had us all howling with laughter watching the footage post-shoot.

When you do incorporate comedy, is that part of the turn-on, or are the sexy and funny elements separate things? Because for me, the cornier the gag, the hotter it is!
Obviously< i prefer the comedic set-ups of a good slapstick scene...even a flimsy set up (for a pie)...like what Rich does...is better than none.
But much of the "comedy" aspect of slapstick is the execution and surprise element...Not knowing when the gag is coming exactly helps with
However, as DM1 points out, some scenes are meant to exploit the erotic nature (the other side of "burlesque") without any pretense to contrived comedy. This is fine too. it's all about the execution. And let's face it: two girls making out is sexy, whether or not they get covered in muck.
The stuff that bores me to tears, is just a relentless series of pies applied to a sitting model whose reactions never vary (much). Competent producers vary this up by injecting slime, or adding a second (or third) model. But hey, that is all some people want and that's fine too.
Being out of the scene 9as a producer) I am no longer married to an strict aesthetic or philosophy of wam.
With the phrasing of the question, I was hesitant to answer yes. Certainly, slapstick is important to me, as it is the one thing I value over all else. I'm not remotely turned on by models who don't perform some sort of comedy in their wam. However, I acknowledge that most wam videos don't involve comedy (or at least fail at being funny), and most wammers don't mind that. I think we have to accept that the entirety of the wam genre doesn't fit into our chosen niche. I would like the see more slapstick videos, and would prefer to have a section here dedicated to comedy, so I didn't have wade through the unfunny posts to find something that interests me. Unfortunately, given that we all have different senses of humor, I don't see us all agreeing on what would belong where.

Agreed. Well, it certainly does make me laugh as much as Seth Rogen does. I was just waiting for an excuse to insert that clip.

I had a good long think about this one, and in the end, I think yes, when a scene is funny, the comedy element is part of its erotic appeal. It adds to the "mess is fun" overall feeling and is sexy to watch. Anticipation is both funny and sexy too, the person on the receiving end knows what she's about to get and has consented to it, but still squirms as the messy moment approaches, which is both fun and sexy to see.
I'm not wild about staged slapstick, but some natural, spontaneous feeling silliness can be a lot of fun. The sort that almost seems to happen by itself when two or more people get messy together. It's hard to figure out if that would be a yes or no vote in the poll.

THIS^
To me there is nothing like a purely candid scene where there was nothing scripted or anything like that. This in turn obviously makes capturing such an incident on video quite difficult. I dunno, I like slapstick WAM, I like erotic WAM, I like innocent slapstick WAM that turns erotic.
I do like some comedic element such as two girls playing around and getting messy. Perhaps one gets the other messy, then she has her 'revenge'.
What I do NOT like, is the overly 'goofy' slapstick scenes that have silly music and girls with fake smiles, pretending to trip and fall, or spill something on one another, etc.
I don't mind the pretending to trip and fall into a mess, but not in a predictable, goofy manner. I'd much prefer it to look more believable, even if the girl punches a mess she finds herself in out of frustration, and in so doing, messes herself even worse. As soon as it crosses the line into becoming a goofy skit, with clown music and worse yet, clowns, it is a turn-off for me.
What a great post!! I do enjoy the comedy element , the ott facial expressions to receiving a custard pie and the whole humiliation of it. The reactions are key too, lots of drama lol
I also love the stereotypical characters too eg the snooty upper class tart , the annoying customer, the slutty bossy restaurant manageress. Some of my fave characters to play lol
The story and build up to the pieing or gunging is also one of the things I enjoy. I've been asking my UMD friends for ideas and storylines for my scenes of late. It's been really good fun to develop them and act them out.
We're all different though in what we enjoy seeing with regards to our interest in wam. It keeps it all fun and interesting
Definitely like the role play and build up to a slapstick scene, but as has been said, I don't find it funny, even if it is intended to be, I just find girls in messy routines erotic.
Again, I like the usual charachters, the dizzy bimbo type, the sexy authority figure, the apparantly prim, but glamorous girls, all getting trashed
