Apparently it was a different Regis that just passed away. My apologies for the confusion. In hindsight, this makes more sense. (Godspeed to the original Regis.... His first run with Kathy Lee was classic....)

Yeah...I don't think the perceived joke going over folks' heads was the problem. I think it was more likely that after nearly a decade of Bea Arthur pics and the "this is our resident creep who really wigs out the newbies...but in a FUN way" schtick, maybe it just wasn't that funny anymore. It was a little bit funny for the first month or so he showed up here years ago. Probably an unpopular opinion, but after that, for me it got old fast. :shrug:

I agree he was one of the greatest personalities for sure. Did Phoebe die this year or did I miss that joke???
She passed in September of last year ... most of us just found out this past week, since she hadn't been in here in quite some time and had pretty much dropped off the radar ...
{edit: in my first draft I posted the link to her obit here, but then I remembered there are a handful of people who lurk around here who (a) think that there is nothing more to life than WAM, and (b) have no self control, and I don't want to risk inflicting those people on her family. They probably didn't know much (if anything) about her WAM life, which was actually her b/f's kink anyway, and I don't want to be responsible for unleashing a bunch of trolls from a fetish site on her family's guestbook...}

Derek runs this site we're all posting on now. I assume he's cool with people dropping his first name, although I haven't seen nearly as much of that lately so if this post disappears, that'll probably be why.
Nobody but Derek and Regis know for sure why he was thrown out, it was sudden and swift. I want to say his entire profile was erased, like he was deleted from UMD history. Pretty harsh stuff, so he must have pissed off someone pretty good.
I was unaware of Phoebe Rodriguez's passing. What a shame, although it's not like any of us really knew her. As someone else stated, it was her boyfriend's kink not hers and she wrote a book about her experiences which were not flattering to this community. It sounds like her time doing this stuff was very uncomfortable and sad for her.
It's a wise move not to link any obituary, honestly I wouldn't even discuss whatever the cause was, there are just too many mentally unhinged people within this community, even if they're lurking and not active here (many were run out, kind of like Regis, but I'm sure most lurk in the shadows still). I wouldn't put it past some cretin to try and reach out to her family to ask them weird inappropriate questions about their her being an object of their wank time.
