I'm looking into sponsoring a shoot with a producer I know and one thing that's on the table is Tarring and Feathering the model. So, a few questions:
Feathers: 1.) What kind of feathers work good for this? 2.) Are there hypoallergenic feathers that work good in case the model has an allergy to real feathers? 3.) I looked a little online and saw that feathers are sold by weight, anyone have a clue what weight of feathers covers an average model?
Tar 4.) Anyone have a good slime recipe for a thicker slime that's still runny enough to be tar? Or a particularly sticky slime that makes a good tar for the feathers to stick to? 5.) There may be multiple coats of tar and feathers, so any input on what kind of brush to use or should hands be used? (I'm thinking white, then colored feathers, then all yellow finale)
The source of feathers I've used are just cheap feather pillows that I found for target. A $12 pillow is more than enough to cover one person and have enough left over for one or two more tarring and featherings. That should be much easier than dealing with buying something online (unless you want a huge amount of feathers).
For the "tar" I have used pancake syrup, as well as pancake syrup mixed with black paint. Both work great; the one with the paint obviously looks more like the real thing. Some people have used blackstrap molasses with good effect, but that's more of a smear or brush on sort of thing; I went with a pouring approach.
