Time to announce an actual Splunch for the North West of England!!
This event will take place at The Richard John Blacker pub (a Wetherspoons) close to Liverpool Lime Street Station https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs/england/merseyside/the-richard-john-blackler-liverpool - a great pub, plenty of space with as great menu. Times will be from 2pm til whenever - everyone welcome. Liverpool is a great city to stay if you want to make a weekend of it (*and I think some of you will!!) with lots of attractions and the historic waterfront (a world heritage site), not to mention the famous "Ferry cross the Mersey". Great for transport links - National Express have a coach station nearby, as do Megabus, plus the aforementioned Lime Street mainline train station.
As per usual, we will have an A-Z on the table, so you can find us. First time? What happens? Basically we meet for a fedw pints, good food and good company - this is a strictly vanilla event, no "messing" aloud - chat about anything your heart desires, just remember though, it is a public place.
Come along for a laugh, a pint or to discuss life, the universe and everything......
Hope to see you there *See my other thread - SPLOSHING EVENT AT TOWNHOUSE INTERNATIONAL SUNDAY 3RD SEPTEMBER
Coach Station For those not local to the area who may have travelled by coach before, the 'new' coach station (about 20 years old) has already been demolished for redevelopment, having moved to an even newer one! It's still only a few minutes away, however (as are most things in Liverpool). Just walk straight up Hanover St, Ranelagh St and turn left just after Central Stn and it's on your right at the end of that street (Gt. Charlotte St.) http://www.nationalexpress.com/help-and-advice/coach-stations/stops.aspx?stop=liverpool
Mainline rail The pub is diagonally right in between Liverpool Lime Street station and Liverpool Central station so if you walk from one and reach the other, you've missed it!
If you're standing on the steps at the corner of Lime Street Station facade with the Holiday Inn opposite you and the Crown Hotel on the corner of Skelhorne Street immediately on your left, you can actually see Blackler's diagonally down the road opposite. It's the large Portland Stone-fronted building next to the one on the corner (which is the old ABC cinema). Beyond is the 1980s Clayton Square shopping centre, while beneath the Holiday Inn is the 1960s St John's shopping Centre. Car
I keep saying that I will make it to one of these Splunch meetings so I'm gonna See if I can make it. I'm quite a shy person and will probably look like the guy who's lost when I walk in lol. Who knows I may find someone who will oblige and give my lovely hair a messy hair treatment at some point lol
OMG!!! What a fantastic weekend it's been - many thanks to those who attended and made it an amazing experience
Attendees at the splunch as follows: Lizzie Claymore Mike Nomic Olly Queen CustardMikey Myself and Godfarter3 (my other and better half!)
A very busy pub, despite it NOT being a match day for either Liverpool or Everton. I'm sure the gents had plenty of eye candy though - seeing several hen nights out on the pull in various states of undress (the term "Kronenburg 1664 comes to mind ) Sparkly naff tiaras and tutus order of the day!
A special shout out goes to CustardMikey - a newcomer to UMD, his first meet and a lovely guy.
Thanks guys xxx
OK, so not great numbers, but we had a great time chatting and making a few realities come to fruition, and that's what matters.

Really enjoyed the Splunch Was a little overwhelmed when I entered the venue, but as soon as I found my new friends, everybody else melted away Learned a great deal and laughed a lot to. Spent first little while, getting introduced and responding by saying, oh that's you is it and each revelation was thrilling to me Felt at ease straight away and it was so good to express my thoughts and feelings about all things messy. Jojo is a shining star and to be in her company after years of seeing her pics and vids was very special, Godfarter 3 is a special bloke and I have great respect for him. Olly Queen and Lizzie Claymore I salute you, I really felt I had known you for ages and Mike Nomic, the doyen of all things messy, it was an honour to meet you and enjoy your reminiscences, particularly of yourself and the legendary Bill. Could have easily floated home, I was so happy and no that wasn't because of alcohol. Im sure my fab five mates will understand my closing remark - freedom is wonderful.
