Hello all!

Some of the keener-eyed among you may have noticed that a few weeks ago, I made an event on the UMD Calendar. "Silly Penny!" you probably thought, "She's forgotten to add any details about it!"

Well, you're wrong, because I was waiting for the perfect time to announce...


MESSTIVAL: The World's First WAM Film Festival & Awards Ceremony!

UK sploshers will have probably already had an inkling or two about what I've been planning, and I'm SO STOKED to finally be able to share it with the whole of UMD! I've been working hard behind the scenes to iron out some of the details, and while we've still got some more to do, I want to get the word out now so that you don't double book yourselves, as it's going to be FUCKING AMAZING.

On Saturday 16th March 2019, we'll be kicking off the weekend with a daytime conference for WAM professionals (models, producers and event organisers), led by CKWam & LisaMoomin, and then in the evening we'll be having a very special edition of Pies & Pints for everyone to hang out and have a drink and some food before the big day.

On Sunday 17th March 2019, we will have the inaugural MESSTIVAL. I've found a beautiful indie cinema who loved the idea of a messy film festival and I want YOU GUYS to help me put on a bloody good show. You'll be able to submit your own films for us to screen, as well as meet all the producers and models who've come along to see their debut on the big screen!

"What's that?" I hear you cry, "Just some movies on a big screen? It sounds like fun, but I'm not sure if it's worth the journey...."
Never fear, because we will also be hosting THE MESSTIVAL AWARDS! Let's give some recognition (and prizes!) to those who've shone the brightest.
We'll be collecting nominations soon, and our wonderful own Messmaster is on board to handle all the voting so that you can be sure that your vote will count.

I'll be posting more details, including how to submit films, nominate and vote, in the very near future, so keep your eyes peeled - in the meantime, don't make any other plans, because this is going to be a weekend to remember.

Would be nice to maybe have live interviews during the event hosted here so ppl who cant travel can still be a bit part of the live event and learn live who won which category.

A livestream of the awards is certainly something we're hoping to do! I imagine we'll want to film it anyway, so it shouldn't be too much more trouble to stream

Maybe something to consider that it's St Patrick's day on the 17th, and a lot of people will be out on the Saturday, If theirs any conflicting events in the city that draw in tourists then hotels and the like may have over inflated prices for those having to travel.

Also this sounds awesome but i'm afraid as it's St Paddy's I'll be in Dublin

That's exactly why I'm letting people know now - so they have a chance to get travel booked before prices go up

I wonder if it will be like the KCAs wherein some of the award recipients and presenters (and of course the host(ess)) gets messed.

Also yes, this will be a lot of fun - Penny's staying with Candy & I at the moment and she is getting us all super-excited with all her brilliant ideas!

This is a really cool idea, and I think that the awards are for specific films rather than models or producers should avoid the issues that came up in the past with awards. Definitely interested in attending, should be a lot of fun!

We'll have two sections for awards - people of the year and films of the year - more on that to come

I spoke with Penny last night on Skype about the Messtival and I was really impressed by the ambition of this project. She is really dedicated to this and she's just full of awesome ideas. Let's make this happen!

What about including a live stream for a cost for those of us across the pond that can't make the trip?? It should be pretty easy to do with today's technology. The only issue I can think of is bandwidth. Or if not a live stream, a time delayed stream of the event like a Pay Per View? If a live event was possible, fill up the chat room and have that running during the event!! This could really be awesome!!!

Assuming I leave, I'd still like to help if I can. There are quite a few people here that can contact me outside if you prefer not to.

The conference is a private meetup/networking event for models/producers, we won't be discussing anything that would be of interest to the wider community lol.

Wow! I remembered you mentioned that you had an idea for this back in Weston. Well impressed that you've actually put it together and started to get it going so quickly! It sounds like it's going to be amazing.

I think I may already have agreed to watch a shed load of Rugby that weekend, if not I'll see everyone there!
