It's amazing what computing power can get out of old footage these days. I oftentimes dream about what if I had the equipment I have today for some of my older shoots from 2012 & 2013. But by remastering some of them at least brings some of that missing quality back.
Right? I think I was the first here to crack at HD with the Kowalski brothers, and remember it taking a couple of hours to render a 15 minute video. And that wasn't true HD and 1280. When I travelled, my MacBook got so hot I devised a system of hitting the render button and putting it on a bowl of ice water and outside at night to keep it cool.
Now, it's two minutes to render full HD and five to render 4k. And the cameras... holy crap. I had to dust off my old DV camera and I'm thinking, "How the fuck did I use this?" My iPhone is better and has the same storage as my old laptop but it's SSD and faster...
We've got two iPhone 14 Pros sitting here in the house, I'm tempted to shoot with those. For what. we do, the lenses are right and there's so much adaptability. An iPhone on a $100 gimbal and some lights would make 90 percent of the stuff I currently see on UMD look downright awful.

This all of Lynn's Pietargets and Gungegirls videos remastered from the original footage in one neat HD quality video, suitable for the big screen. It includes the beautiful dark haired Lynn wearing jeans and a tank top playing the lighter game, then getting pied, Lynn wearing a cute dress and glasses and complaining we only use white pies then getting pied with multicolor pies, and Lynn in a bikini getting relentlessly slimed with multicolor cake batter slime.
The video also includes upscaled original footage from a second camera shot at 60 frames per second.

Ok, so this is a bit of an experiment. I've had lots of people asking about old videos that I left the original footage of on another continent and not hooked to the internet. It got me to thinking about getting hold of that. footage and, given the state of technology now, re-editing the old videos, color grading them properly, and processing them for the larger file sizes (meaning higher quality) most people have access to them.
In essence, remastering them. I also got chatting with another producer who suggested it, so if this interests you, thank WAM Photography and go check his stuff out.
If this is something people want, I'll work to get the original footage to me office and put the time and effort in. In the meantime, I do have a few originals here from GG as well as everything from PieTargets.
Just bear in mind, this isn't my full time gig anymore and I'm not 25 anymore, so life has grown, time is limited at the moment, and incredibly valuable to me. I'm not going to be able to knock everyone's favorite video out instantly... hell, I've got something like 350 videos in the back catalogue so it'll take a while. I'm hoping like hell the original DV tapes haven't degraded.
These look fantastic on a big screen. I was blown away by how much better they came out considering the equipment used compared to what's available now. There'a little help in there from an AI upscale to get to 1280 HD but it's icing on the pie, really.
