So let me start off by saying I love Toy Story. I grew up watching all the originals, I went to see the 3rd and 4th as an adult...and with Lightyear coming, I of course planned to see that too.

I went yesterday, the theater had maybe 10 people in it including myself. Even during "covid" times that's bad, I've went to movies that had a full theater for a premiere. Maybe it was a bit late for the kids, but school is out at a lot of places...

Then I thought maybe it was the Tim Allen not being the voice thing...and then I come on-line and see all these "Woke!" comments and yadda yadda yadda "I'm not taking my kids to see this trash!" because there's a lesbian couple in the movie. OH MY GOD! The Horror! Apparently there was a kiss at some point (I think it was cut from the movie because I don't recall seeing one), and a lot of people are "uncomfortable" with that.

How crazy is that? I can't believe people are still set in these ways, it's really sick. It makes me sick. There's not a kid out there who would see this movie and come off thinking of the girl+girl relationship, I can pretty much guarantee damn near 99% of them are going to be more fixated on the talking robot cat.

What really cracks me up is these same guys bad mouthing the movie grew up (and might still be) watching wrestling. Guy on guy action in skimpy to shirtless and pantsless outfits...nothing wrong with that! Really there isn't anything wrong with it, I'm not into wrestling personally (too fake and cheesy for me), but you gotta admit it's pretty gay...and I reiterate: nothing wrong with that, if you're into wrestling, good for you! There's a lot of stuff I'm into that other people aren't into, and they're into stuff I'm not into...that's the way of the world, but if you grew up watching Toy Story, there's absolutely no reason you should be refusing to see the new one because of a gay couple, that's just ludicrous.

Anyways...I don't know what I'm really getting at here. I really see why we need this month for pride. I'm a straight guy who secretly wishes he was more feminine at times, so I really can't relate or say I've been there...But I just wanted to let everyone know...pardon my French here...but, fuck everyone who tries to talk down about you for who you like or who you identify as. Be true to yourself, and keep your head up! (except for when you're getting slimed )

Yes its very upsetting that these people throwing the temper tantrums are actually just so insecure about their own desires. They are actually quite gay but they dont want the rest of the world to see them as that. So they hide and fear monger.

HAHAHA Wrestling is sooooo gay! Yeah, I grew up watching wresting, and it had a VERY different theme in the 80s. It was very colorful characters with backstories, and niche themes. The Million Dollar man, The Narcissist, The Undertaker (was probably the last one).

In the 90s there was a shift to make it more...degenerate? It was the same kinds of almost slapstick violence, but the smack talk and backstories got more and more adult oriented. Everything had to be more "intense" and "controversial" Which does actually remind me of a really really funny bit I DO still love to this day:

But then came the women, and the bra and panties matches (sometimes in pudding). Which of course I love now. But my problem was with the shift, they never really stopped marketing it to kids. Like teens are fine, but like you'd still see the audience pan shots showing like fucking 6 year olds at these things.

Like were the Ultimate warrior and Macho Man Randy Savage coked out of their fucking minds when they made their monologues? ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY, but the kids didn't know that, and things were kept pretty damn clean on camera. It was a show, it was like comic book characters. They all had signature moves that fit with their themes.

Then it just got...well, trashy.

But to go on topic about Lightyear, I never heard of this "controversy" I was pretty excited to see the movie too. I mean, if like anyone was tonguing each other regardless of sexuality, I'd probably be upset too as it's a kids movie. But like a kiss? WTF?

I was sad that Tim Allen wasn't going to be the voice for this, but Chris Evans spot on nailed it! I'm still going to watch it eventually, but theater prices are just way too high anymore. Probably wait for release.

Lastly, how was the movie? Not asking for spoilers, but did you think it was good?

Yea, I don't get it, it's like every Disney animated movie in the 90's basically had a Prince and Princess and at some point they kissed...and now they throw in something "non traditional", and everyone loses their shit. It's really sad seeing parents say "My kids are not seeing that." That's just so messed up living with those kinds of people, teaching all that hate and intolerance. Some people are all like "I'm not explaining that to my kids." What's there to explain? You say "They like each other, so they got together. It's no different than any other couple being together in any movie you've seen." That's all there is to it! They probably have to explain weirder shit than that to their kids all day...

I enjoyed the movie very much. It was fun, and a great nod to the world of Toy Story. I'd have no problem adding it to my collection.

Probably the same folks that were basically calling it the end times when Toy Story 4 has a Fork that was Transgender. I mean, won't someone think of the children!?

Let them complain, it's not going to change the movement towards inclusion.
Ignore them, each new generation becomes a little more tolerant and understanding (regardless of what the media like to portray).
Laugh at them when they think the term "Woke" is an insult, when all it means is someone has realised that being a dick to the oppressed isn't a good thing, and that the newly 'woken' is actually someone who has discovered empathy.

I don't hate entertainers (I try to call them entertainers rather than celebrities).
Though they do get paid way too much.
But god I hate their fans far far more.
Even when I happen to agree with their opinions about the movie, music, art, etc.
I don't have the time nor inclination to post long diatribes
about some piece of entertainment online. If I had the time and inclination/motivation
to do that - I'd spend it creating an original piece of work of some kind and post THAT.
(Of course, my creative work is not in entertainment.)

some piece of entertainment.

It's weird that some people thing that being exposed to gay content, like two guys holding hands or to women kissing, will "turn" kids gay, but look at the entire Disney catolog. Sraight representation as far as the eye can see.

But men who are super into disney skew gay. How does the math for that work?
