Jayce's wish to offer a free video will cost anyone at least $5 for a temporary VIP pass, as the video is longer than 10 minutes. Surely something better can be worked out than this.

It's to do with the video length, and UMD rules to keep bandwidth usage manageable.

If a free video is longer than 5 minutes, only logged-in members can see it.
If its more than 10 minutes, only UMD VIP members can watch it. Though as VIP is only $5 a month, and goes to help with the site's running costs, that's hardly a huge impediment.

This is explained on the video upload page but there's a lot of information on that page so easily missed.

Video can really eat bandwidth, and of course most of what's available has to be conserved for paying subscription members, who rightly expect a reasonable level of service for their money. Hence the need for these rules.

The other way to get a longer than 10 minutes video available to everyone for free would be to host it on a third party tube site and post the link here, but YouTube can't be used for nude content and other sites won't auto-link the way YT does. And finding and signing up for one that does would be a faff.

UMD won't let none VIPs watch vids over 10mins long. You'd have to break it down to blocks of under 10 mins to let everyone watch it.

No offense, but are you really getting mad/upset over this? Have a heart, she's been dealing with an insane amount of unexpected and time sensitive issues, surely you can, at a bare minimum, wait until she's at least done dealing with the plethora of things she's trying to handle at the moment, to see a FREE video, relax man, like she said, she did this as a thank you, don't put more on her plate right now

i also thought of the bandwidth issue and why i only put it up for free for a few days bc i didnt want to take up so much space. heeeeence what also brought me to realize i still had up ad videos from christmas i gotta take down! thank you for the info bc i then? caught it! but the video is 15+ minutes of wet and messy....it does help mm continue to run the site. 5 bucks also gets you percentages off vids you buy too, i believe!

I was able to see the video in her OP. She fixed it

As a VIP with gig download speed I can say that this video was unwatchable no matter where I tried to stream it from. The stream was so choppy I could not watch more than a few seconds before it needed to buffer again. I second Potatoman-J and saying maybe make this downloadable so we do not have to fight against the streaming of the site.

Those poor starving people. You should send them some pies.

Trouble with that would be that there's a $10 minimum checkout price - to be able to download it even for $0.00, users would need to buy at least $10 of other content.

I don't usually pipe up about much , but she doesn't owe you anything at all , she did something nice for her fans at a really difficult time and you go ahead and give her more grief? I couldn't watch the video either , I'm not VIP, but a lot of us can appreciate the thought she put into it and the gesture made.

If you bought her videos recently to help her out and saw this video as payment for that, you didn't do it to help her out. You exchanged money for her amazing content, that's the transaction done, that's your reward. To reiterate, she doesn't owe you anything but tried To do something nice.

Nobody was complaining about the fact that a video was free. The complaints were simply regarding access to it along with suggestions for work arounds. If you read the whole conversation, the VIP component is not to stick up our noses but pointing out that non VIPs can only view a shorter length video. There is no question we love Jayce and the hard work she puts in. I think you may have misunderstood the conversation here regarding its accessibility.
