I remember that stuff - it came in a small tub a lot like a play-doh container. I remembered it as soon as I read that, and yes, that is exactly what this stuff looks like!
I'm amazed how thick this stuff coats you and love how it has that kind of slimy rubbery texture. One of the things I don't like about some of the really thick mess is that you loose track of the model - they just become a blob.
