Something I've long wondered about, why people do or don't buy specific scenes, and which has sort-of come up recently in the discussions on the "Slowdown in Sales" thread: What are your main criteria for buying, or not buying, any given scene?

I'm splitting this into three main areas:

The Model(s): If you'd buy almost any scene as long as it has a specifc person you're a fan of in it, vote this option.

The Outfit: If the over-riding factor is what someone is wearing. So if you'd be tempted by almost any scene that contained people getting messy while wearing specific types of clothing, vote this option.

Naked WAM: If the over-riding factor is to see people getting messy naked (but not having sex or masturbating - that's the "Hardcore" option below), vote this option. Fans of stripping to nude in the mess should also vote this option.

The Method: If the main thing is how someone gets messy, so being pied in the face, or clothes filling, or a gunge tank, or bathing in mess, or the Human Garbage Disposal situation, or cake sitting, is your main requirement, vote this option.

Hardcore: If you're only interested in messy scenes that contain actual sex, or masturbation, or toy insertions, fisting, etc, and would never buy anything that doesn't, but would be tempted by anything that does, vote this option.

Obviously in many cases decisions will be based on more than one criteria but for the purposes of this poll, vote for the single thing that will **most** appeal to you in deciding to buy a scene.

For me it's mostly about the messy hair with minimum facial mess so you can see some reactions as opposed to a face being covered up and the eyes being hidden under globs of mess. Models come into play too, mainly it boils down to whether their hair is really short or really long, if it's really really short it doesn't really do much for me and my messy hair fetish if I'm being honest.

Yea in my case not one category alone makes me pull the trigger.. Maybe in my first years but after 20+ years my taste buds are more specific.
Equally important are the clothing, the substance, the models and the method . So for me.. casual mud wrestling that would end up naked is almost certain buy.
The beauty of our community is how spread out every ones taste are.. but it's also our weakness as a group. This makes it very hard for producers to hit everyone's buttons with a release, making it a profitable market should be a concern for us all..

I'm with that too. Voted for the outfit option though, as I prefer dresses/skirts/underwear. Combined with 'wet' that's what does it for me.

For me the outfit determines my appeal in a scene, seeing someone smartly dressed and with them in essence being in a situation you would not accustom to being in as ties in with the method of mess too as going into a gunge tank, a bath or mud, but outfit outweighs the above for me.

This is a great question. There are plenty of 'grey areas' though, as I will elaborate on my own preferences . . .


For me, any model has to be reasonably pretty and reasonably fit. Other than that, the super-pretty, super-fit ones are even better, but not a necessity for my enjoyment of a scene.


Again, for me it's not about specifics, but I do prefer to see things begin with some kind of thin fabric that is hugging the girls body. Perhaps a long, tight T shirt (thin) or a curve hugging dress. The colors need to be white or at least light, as I like a see-through effect once the fabric is messed up or wet.


I like nude mess scenes when the camera operator isn't fixated on the boobs, ass or crotch. Just all-over nudity with all-over mess. The model could strip down to a thong too, also nice to see.


For me, I like to see body mess and preferably laying in the mess in some sort of wading pool or on a bed, etc. where the mess can pool beneath her. I prefer not to see the 'standard' start with a pie in the face, maybe to the boobs, or the ass. What about a pie to the legs or stomach or back? What about no pies, but buckets of mess applied to those areas first? Or just have her plop full-length into the mess all at once. Instead of a slow-pour from a bucket of slime, what about a fast dumping of the slime on her, the way people throw a bucket of water at someone. The splattering effect is sexy because it's an unknown factor. Nobody really knows where that mess will wind up, as opposed to a carefully controlled slow pouring. The 'standard' ways appeal to many but not everyone, so I love it when I see someone break the rules.


This one I definitely do NOT prefer, as I think the sexual aspect of wam is left to the imagination. Even a naked girl rolling in slime makes a person imagine how it feels, what are her sensations, etc. To me, that's a bigger turn-on than seeing vibrator play or other 'porn' style visuals.

I voted 'Model' as I just can't get into it if I see a non-attractive woman who is out of shape getting messy. I apologize for this, but if we're talking about what turns me on, I need to be honest. I believe everybody can enjoy getting messy, but I don't necessarily want to see everybody in those situations.

Several factors are important to me: It should be an attractive model in a nice outfit. The way the model gets messy is also important. But everything else can be perfect if the model is not attractive to me that's a knockout criterion for me and I wouldn't buy the set. I find nude scenes boring because getting messy in clothes is what interests me.

I once was in discussion with a producer regarding having a custom shot. I was told my 'custom' was too customized, as they need to be able to add it to their store and feel assured that it will sell. Isn't that the point of a custom, that it's 'customized'?

it's mostly the outfit for me. There is a ton of porn related to naked women doing sexual things. On the other hand it is not easy find new footage and pics of elegantly clad women get absolutely filthy.

Have to say the Model first, and Naked Splosh Wam is alwaysa bonus, not say no to a bit of self pleasure now and then too as an optional sextra

Interesting question! I voted the Method, but to be frank I don't really have a key "thing" among these when it comes to WAM. I often enjoy XXX and naked WAM, but it's not a prerequisite for me, as I can get just as turned on by fully clothed WAM. There are certain outfits I love, from business suits to pantyhose, dresses or anything with black socks, or even the tracksuits/combat outfits featured in RSSRuinStreetStyle's stuff, down to bikins or lingerie. I probably should have voted for the "Model" option, because to me, it really all depends on who is carrying the scene and how "into" it they seem to be. Everything else is the cherry on top, although I'm more likely (there are exceptions, though) to purchase a scene if it features some of my favorite WAM substances.

I voted for method first, because what appeals to me most is people being messy, and the amount of mess, I lean toward wanting to see someone completely covered, but I do consider the other factors in the following order
2 The Model. I definitely have model preferences, but it's secondary to the method.
3 The Outfit and Naked Wam are tied as that matters the least to me, It doesn't really matter what a model is wearing, or if they're wearing anything at all, because the part I like about wam the most is the mess. I do certainly enjoy certain clothes more than others, and I always get a thrill from a model stripping off their outfit or being naked, but it's a lower factor.
4 Hardcore This is at the bottom because to me it has zero effect on whether I'll buy a scene or not. Harcore only really does it for me if the models in the scene are either completely covered in the mess.

I certainly have my favorite models and tend to stick to them (no pun intended). Knowing the girl's name isn't overly important, but it helps at times if I'm searching for something new of her. One site I prefer has a pretty nice feature of being able to search all of a particular model by clicking "see all sets of this girl" or something like that.

Next is the outfit. Even my favorite girls have had some very unflattering clothing choices and I won't buy those videos or photos if I don't like what she's wearing.

The situation can often be a factor, but isn't really a make it or break it for me. Sometimes a hot girl washing a car and getting soaked can be just as fun as a girl in a shower. Or, on the messy side, a pie barrage can be as great as a decent slime. Seeing as I really don't like savory, I choose not to buy any scenes that contain even one ingredient of that if I can help it. An exception has been Tracy in "Pie Tease" over at PieZone who gets baked beans along with pies and slime. The beans end up not being noticeable by the end.

Nudity isn't important to me, but it can help a scene. I've purchased many scenes that contain no nudity at all, just a nice sheer wet shirt. Then, I've also purchased topless and full nude in the past.

Lastly, sex. It's the last thing I consider for a scene. I tend to prefer solo sets of one girl wet or messy and only occasionally buy multiple girl sets. I prefer no sex and tend to shy away from scenes with men in them. Maybe I'm weird, but seeing a guy in the scene kinda ruins any fantasy the scene would create for me.

That's bonkers. The whole idea of a custom is you charge full cost + basic profit so that even if it doesn't sell a single other copy, ever, you're not out of pocket, and every copy it ever does sell is pure profit as all costs and expenses of doing it have already been paid for. Suggests someone was underpricing their customs in the hope of mainstream sales.

If someone came to me and said they wanted two girls to dress in cycling shorts and fuzzy sweaters, fill the shorts with yellow rubber ducks, and then sit down in tubs of gunge together and sing the national anthem while having more gunge and ducks thrown over them, I'm pretty sure no-one else would buy a copy. But I'd charge the customer three hundred quid plus cost of the outfits and the rubber ducks, shoot it and make it available to them, then stick it in the download store as an extra and if anyone else did want it that'd be extra profit, but we'd have already made fifty quid on it anyway even if it never sold.

Of course at this point eighteen people will pipe up saying actually DuckWam is a thing, and like WatchWam previously, by this time next year every third scene will have rubber ducks in it.

I know this seems weird, but this is within the realm of WAM. So why are model and nudity so far down? Well nudity is at the bottom because, well there's so much regular porn out there, nudity is just mainstream there. I certainly LIKE nudity, but it's not super important for me with WAM.

Models is 4 because I have a very wide view of people that I find attractive and while I have my visual likes, personality and character mean a lot to me. Also, consider this. You have two porn scenes with say Whitney Wright (picking her because she's a goddess). Both scenes you have Whitney, but what is she doing? Maybe one scene ticks off the things I really like, glamor makeup, lingerie, romantic sex, creampie finish, etc. And the other is gangbang where's she's being treated like a slut. The first scene is going to appeal to ME anyways way more than the second.

So with that in mind, what is being used in the scene, how, and what is being worn can mean more to me. I could like a scene with slime or mud immersion with a model I fancy less than a pie scene with say Jayce or Maria whom I both adore.

Sex is in the middle because well, I like sex. It can be clothed, nude, messy or not. WAM is wonderful on it's own, combine it with sex and it's like the best meal and dessert combo ever.

I voted method because I'm hyperspecific in my interested. I want very specific thing to happen to them. If you can do it consistantly, can I just give you my credit card number and you just bill me upon release?

Next, is the model. A good session can make just about anyone hot, but starting off hot always helps. I've seem some models in other stores that I'm like, goddamn! However, if the model doesn't show their face, that's a dealbreaker.

Clothing is the minorest of influences. So long as I feel it's general nuetral or gender conforming, I'm fine. Bonus points if they are in swimwear style clothes, but not required.

Finally, there's hardcore. Once again, I'm hyperspecific, but if they are doing my specific niche position and the method is right, and the model is hot, SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

I always buy videos depending on what the model is wearing. If they wear a nice t-shirt or a gorgeous dress then I'll purchase it. I'd love to see people get wet and messy wearing band tees or sequin outfits especially if it's a Rolling Stones t-shirt or a similar diamante t-shirt or a strapless sequin/sequin tube top or I love people who wear tube tops or strapless dresses.

There are ladies who I would rarely get bored of watching. However, if every scene they were in was virtually the same, then I might not bother with every scene.

There are also assorted scenarios which do not interest me. Which means someone doing a change of direction isn't going to assure me of sales.

And some outfit / scenario based does have to kinda work.

Nudity for me depends. Most of the stuff I buy is not for nudity, but sometimes it can be useful to extend a scene or add to something (in WAM the old, "messy costume comes off - more skin to gunge") and sex... sometimes... it depends on the scene. But it does have to feel more than "and then she masturbates in the mess" and the messy bj stuff rarely does anything for me as I'm often not watching for cocks (and sometimes, not always, it feels like a producer getting a cheeky BJ out of it, rather than adding to the scene)

I think there's been a lot of people I've dipped in and out with over the years - but I'd say some folk I keep going back to

I probably own more of stuff by Amy Wynters than anyone else, but she also does a lot of foot fetish stuff (although I like f/f - I prefer her solo foot stuff, or, ahem, stuff with me) and would love to see her do more again

I love what Mistress Leena is going - but - she is also going through that early self-exploration of WAM and trying new things so while not everything she does is for me, it might take a while before it gets too samey.

I think Messy World in general has ideas that keeps it fresh, but I generally prefer stuff they do with Bad Dolly or Rosie Flame (even if one of my all time favourite WAM scenes is by them and contains neither - Lisa in a maids outfit 'cleaning' the gunge tank)

and then i think there's been a lot of other amateur creators have kept things interesting with their own exploration - there was a couple here, Jack and Cate, I think - who were doing some awesome ideas.

I think, mind, if i kept listing people I like I'd be here a while. (and my non inclusion of anyone doesn't mean I don't like them - or - it might mean I don't, but that that's fine their content is great just not my cup of tea)

It's a shame we can only vote for one, but I have three answers for this. The models+Nude WAM+Hardcore.

I couldn't vote. I would have said "model" but "If you'd buy almost any scene as long as it has a specific person you're a fan of in it, vote this option." No, not "almost any scene." The method and outfit then come into play. I'll skip a favorite model if the scene/photoset is mostly slime, or (for wetlook) mostly underwater, or either if there's lesbo. OTOH, I'll buy a scene/set with a model I've never seen before if I find her attractive, the outfit attractive, and the method attractive.

Then there are exceptions. I'll buy a favorite model in a favorite outfit getting slimed somtimes.

For me, its more negatives: I won't buy hardcore, I won't buy a great outfit on an ugly-to-me model, I hate piercings and nose rings and might skip a scene/set if tattoos are too prominent. I'm turned off by lesbian stuff.

And one criteria not mentioned: Attitude. In pies, some "anger" is desired but if the model is really unhappy I lose interest. And a wetlook model who knows she's being sexy and turning me on, that's a big plus and selling point.

Although I voted situation, I agree with this also. I always think us folks that DON'T necessarily want nudity or sex in their vids are the weirdest subset of an already weird group of fetishists. Everyone who views porn likes sex and nudity-- nothing weird about that. But someone who gets excited by seeing Dorothy Appelby pied in a black & white 3 Stooges movie from the 1930s? WOW! That dude is a real freak.

Model and outfit.

I think I'm method over everything else, and for whatever reason a lot of the content I vibe with is amateur. There are people I'll follow and consistently enjoy watching, but it's not so much a physical type as having a likeable manner and an approach I relate to.
I do like naked, though latex, wetsuits and lycra are fun in their own ways. Heavier clothing is not for me. And the hardcore element isn't a must for me - there are videos without that do as much for me as any other, because everything else about the scene is spot on

I voted Naked WAM but the star of the show for me is the mess. I'd rather see a clothed model in a deep mud pit than a naked model in a watery mud puddle.
