Wow, this is fun thread to read. for me outfit, was the big factor. I happen to really like gals in shiny outfits, like leather pants or pvc etc. LOVE nice looking boots, with the exception of clunky footwear. But, along with method being major....watery mud is such a disappointment. However seeing a completely plastered with mud model, going in to a lake or stream and getting cleaned up....with the water shine....AROOO that is hot. An absolute sure buy for me, would be a gal in leather pants, and some nice knee high pvc boots getting muddy. I have been un-able to get muddy as much I would like to, this year, so watching a nice mud scene has been where my wam budget has gone this year. I have some new pants, that wont fit me, ready to be worn and get muddy. Let me know in US number size, aka 6, 2, 14 etc I believe I have extra from 2 to 14 womens sizes. Also the gals I usually go mud with have been un able to go this year. I may have some womens boots available nit sure were they are tho at the time of this post, gota find time to look PM me, and would love to see some of the stuff get muddy. Oh, and love how the producers over the years have kept it up. Please reward what you want to see and purchase the work. Vote with your wallet. Hope you all get time to get your wam on before it gets cold.

Similarly, you can have the best model on the planet, but if you stick her in an outfit that they wouldn't wear in an everyday life situation, it does nothing for me.
That said, I can't think of many scenes that hit all of these points, so you do have to compromise as a customer most of the time
I can safely say our models in the nude/hardcore setups are because they are, they come back and we're doing it on content share basis so the model will only get paid if it sells on their platform be it onlyfans etc

We have our four coloured Ducks-of-Doom that we use in our clothes cutting scenes to decide what happens next and to whom. But perhaps they should make occasional appearences elsewhere too. Quack quack!

No problem! These are issues I've long wondered about, both in terms of how people relate to our content, and just in general how other WAM-fans think. The results so far are different to what I expected, not going to say anything till the poll closes so people can vote freely without influence, but it's interesting to see, and that so many have voted.
Noted the comments about the actual choice being more complex that can be easily indicated in the poll, UMD polls are fairly simple, but easy to set up - to do more detailed analysis would require an elaborate external system, and designing such things is rather more complicated than they often first appear.
Thanks to all who have voted and commented, please keep them coming!
So for me the factors based roughly on what you've got here:
The Producer There are some producers I will never buy another scene from even if they appear to tick every one of the other boxes. I don't take this decision lightly I put certain producers on my blacklist after having bought many videos from them that I've been disappointed with. Fastest way to wind up on my blacklist is to be deceptive though I don't know how to give examples of this without it seeming to hint at anyone in particular and I'm not here to start a flame war, just make clear that certain practices that I find annoying if keep cropping up in videos I've bought from them lead me to believe despite what seems to be hinted at in their scene descriptions and thumbnails will likely have the same disappointment. On the other end of the spectrum there are those producers that I've found most purchases to be satisfactory enough that I'm more willing to see their take on particular scenes I already have so I'm not a complete grouch in this category. The only advice I will give to stay out of one's blacklist is that if you appear to promise something - either in scene description or thumbnails make sure you deliver on it.
The Method I started in the WAM scene more than a decade ago and whilst I spent a large chunk of time away from forums I still went direct to certain websites in my lost years or used my previous account to purchase clips through UMD before I returned with this account. I even remained subscribed to websites that did many scenes I wasn't into but because they did a particular type of scene well that I did like I was happy to support keeping them going (not all have kept going) even if it meant like £50 in subscription fees and three/four months between those scenes. Suffice to say over that time I've accumulated a large collection of clips (back in the day subscriptions permitted downloads rather than stream-only) in various scenes such that to pique my interest new scenes need to distinguish themselves from similar scenes I already have otherwise I can go back and watch those, with enough time I've forgotten how much I enjoyed those past scenes. Need to be innovative to stand out here.
It should also clarify "The Method" for me breaks down into more sub-components such as: type of mess, emotional tone of scene (from light hearted slapstick humour to a darker more humiliation focus), delivery systems (from gunge/dunk tanks and pie machines to manual bucket pours and pie throws) and scene types (roleplay scene, gameshow etc).
The Rest Model, Outfit, Nudity or Hardcore These all about rank the same here either being pluses or minuses that might push me one way or the other if I'm left on the fence by The Method alone and having to weigh up various factors. To go into each of them in no particular order:
Nudity/Hardcore I'm not put off by nudity or hardcore content in a scene it comes down to whether I already have a number of similar nude and hardcore clips or not. If not then it might be a plus in its favour if I have then buying another probably isn't worth it for me.
Outfits I can be tempted to get a similar scene with a similar outfit provided the new clip has made a significant improvement in the outfit over the previous scene. Otherwise I might be tempted by a similar scene featuring a different outfit. Certain outfits however earn big minuses in my books. Any sort of outfit specifically designed to avoid or limit how messy someone gets can disqualify even scenes I think have a strong method. For example if a scene features waterproofs, wellington boots, boiler suit, goggles or protective hat then forget about it. There are some outfits (not in the forget about it category) I dislike that I've still bought scenes from. An example that comes to mind is that I absolutely loathe the GYOB outfit ugly bloody thing which the BBC only came up with so helizarin dyes wouldn't stain people's own clothes that I usually won't buy a clip from if I see it being worn however RevSlymford's GYOB clips with a couple games with the possibility for scores to see the lead change a few times in the run up to the climax is enough to justify overlooking the GYOB outfits for me.
Just to add a brief note, whilst I personally would split "The Method" into further subcategories of decision for me personally whether wearing a particular fully dressed outfit, lingerie/underwear only or topless and/or fully nude I really weigh up as a single factor of outfit or lack there of. Hardcore activities within the scene I sort of weigh up with some of the other factors mentioned in Method such as the tone of a scene (explicitly sexual in a hardcore scene) or equipment if things like bondage may be involved as it could intersect where for instance they are tied up in a gunge tank.
Model Whether or not the model influences my choice will come down to whether I've seen them in other scenes and they stood out in some way during it in which case even if I have a similar scene to the one they've done I may be curious to see their take on it as I believe there is a good chance they're able to improve upon the previous scenes I already have. If they later turn out to be a big WAM natural it is likely I will come across them when they branch out into my more favourite scene areas such that I'll be more inclined to look through what other scenes they've previously done and potentially buy any that take my fancy later but it is unlikely a complete newbie is going to make an improvement on previous versions of the scenes I already have and chances are higher they're going to decide after a couple videos it isn't for them/move on to other things rather than it turn out they're a natural anyway so I find "wait and see" results in less disappointments.
For me it is the outfit. I love the shiny sports shorts, love the way they cling when wet/messy. I also like rain wear but am very particular on that which unfortunately is very rare to see the type which is the every day type that you would see some in the high street, on walks/hikes also the puffy coats too, again very rare. So happy there are plenty of the shiny shorts scenes which are great.
For me, it is largely about the outfit and by that I mean leather. I don't mind imitation leather, or to give it its actual name, plastic, but there is no substitution for the real thing. I do get irritated though when the title proclaims 'leather', only to find out that it is in fact plastic I am not a fan of scenes where the story line is absurd to the point of unrealistic. I prefer things a little more spontaneous or accidental. Someone getting pushed or tripping into a wet or messy situation, as opposed to a badly acted, "whoops, I deliberately fell in" type of scene. As long as I know what I am buying, then that is fine, but I have bought videos that fell distinctly short of what was the description led me to believe that I was getting.

Yeah, this absolutely, accuracy and honesty is absolutely everything. TBH if a scene claims to be leather but isn't, report it to MM, and request a refund.
We have a "lesbians in leather" scene on Imperatrix Domina where the jeans are 100% real leather but the jackets are plastic leather. I made a point of spelling that out in the description so people would know exactly what they are buying. So far, it's one of our best sellers and we've had zero complaints. I think some people are scared if they're honest a scene won't sell, but selling scenes by conning people isn't acceptable.

That absolutely should not happen - if those scenes are on the UMD store, report them for inaccuracy in description, there's a "Report" link in the box (with the price, run-time, etc), on each scene, and those reports are totally anonymous, they bypass the general reports page that all admins can see and go straight to MM directly.

That makes perfect sense, no-one likes to feel they've been conned or scammed. I've always believed in detailed descriptions and comprehensive previews for this reason, tell people what they're getting so a) they know that their personal hot button is in the scene, and b) if there's something significant that *isn't* in the scene (like a scene with no head or hair coverage) make that clear either in text or by including a preview shot from the very end in the promos.

We still operate download two subscription websites, saturationhall.com has the dungeon messy content and langstonedale.com has the mud and wetlook, someone who signs up will get the scenes cheaper than via the download stores ($60 for 6 months, usually 14 releases), but never know what's coming next in terms of models, outfits, or methods. It's definitely the smaller side of our business compared to the download stores but we keep it going because it's traditional. And we have people who've manually renewed their memberships every six months (we don't do automatic rebills) for years, and who's support we very much appreciate, as it effectively funds the core of the business. So on behalf of the sites you supported, thank you for doing that.

Ok, this interests me directly - I totally get that to many people overalls, waterproofs, etc, aren't sexy, in the same way that to me personally, lingerie, stockings and suspenders, short skirts, etc, aren't sexy, that's just personal taste. But I'm interested that you say "designed to limit how messy someone gets". We do a fair few "girls in boilersuits" scenes, and following a very successful custom some years ago we also now do occasional waterproofs ones, and we've always done wellies. But there's no limitation of how messy our people get wearing them, while wellies may keep feet dry when walking through puddles, that doesn't really work if you pour custard into them, likewise a boilersuit doesn't keep the wearer very clean when tomato soup is being poured inside it from the collar. So is it only if the items are used to keep mess off people (as in some very old TV gameshows that provided optional raincoats to gunge-tank occupants, before their produers realised that spoiled the effect), or would you discount all such scenes no matter how messy the participants get?
Fair enough on goggles, while personally if it's a choice between "this person gets messy with goggles on or this person doesn't get messy", I'll still take it if the outfit, method, and mess are right, but I know it's a hard stop regardless for most people.
Hats is a tricky one. Years back there was a TV gunge gameshow where at the end, the person who was going to get tipped into the vat of gunge had to answer three questions first, and for every one they got wrong a bucket of gunge got dropped on them from above while still on the seat. One contestant wore a baseball cap, which meant that while the mess from above went all over her clothes, her face stayed clean, at least until she got tipped into the vat. I really liked that, and thought it was a very cool way to gunge someone.

Understood, though personally I loved the GYOB outfits, to me that style of clothing is sexy, and probably much nicer than what people would have worn on their own. I also liked the uniformity of it. I think the Slymsford versions are tight leggings rather than trackpants (which is an improvement in sexiness though you can understand a kids show not doing that), though I wish they'd use full length ones instead of shorties.

Yeah, I realised that the realities would be deeper and much more intersectional than a simple "pick one only" poll can cover, but am hoping the final result will still be of interest in general.

TBH when I included this I was thinking more of people who are fans of an established WAM personality like Honeysuckle Sacherine or Ivy Rain, and might want to collect all their scenes regardless of producer because they are a fan of that model. Interesting alternative take on it regarding new-to-the-scene models though.
For the record, my actual vote in the poll was for Method. All of these things can be turn-ons/offs for me but there are two things that turn me off faster than you can say "what do you mean, they cut the power?" and those are savoury mess and smoking. I start hallucinating the smell. It's not fun at all.
The Model: I'm certainly more likely to buy more of a model's scenes if I've enjoyed their previous scenes, but there's nobody I have such a crush on that I'd unquestioningly buy all their scenes (which is a bit of an understatement, as I'm completely aromantic and I can't even imagine what a crush feels like). Conversely, if they're not a very good actor, or if they've behaved atrociously within the community (though most of the latter tend to pack up shop and delete all their scenes anyway) they may make my "never buy again" list.
The Outfit / Naked WAM: the tighter my budget is, the more my purchases skew towards nudity, but it's not an absolute thing. WAM for me is primarily about the sensation of the mess on the skin, but you can expose plenty of skin while remaining fully clothed, and then you have the option of pouring the mess down the inside, which is a wonderful twist on the sensation.
The Method: Gunge. Custard. Pies (and/or sufficiently squishy cakes). Mud. Delivery mechanisms may and indeed should vary - I'd get bored much more quickly just watching overhead gunge tank scenes or just pie-throwing etc - but you get out of those four substances and into savoury mess and I'm over the horizon leaving a Houghten-shaped dust cloud where I was standing. It's not super important to me whether the mess is a punishment, a reward, or just unexplained. I do prefer the latter two - punishment and humiliation isn't why I'm here, but it is what I grew up on, so I'm used to it.
Hardcore: I like it just fine, but I wouldn't necessarily want it in every scene, same as I wouldn't want the same delivery mechanism every time. Also, some models I'll only buy their scenes without, because their ability to act convincingly does not extend as far as their sensual moans. Ultimately, some day, when I'm not filled with enough self-loathing to power a small country, I would like to experience messy sex (and, indeed, any sex), and until then, scenes featuring it will have to do.
This is a really interesting topic and I wanted to add my thoughts.
I voted model first as I need to find the model attractive before any other parts of the scene fall into place.
Next up is the outfit. I prefer professional outfits (e.g. office) or uniforms (police, maid etc). I'm not so into boiler suits for example, so a Honeysuckle scene in a boiler suit would tick my first box but not the second. However a Honeysuckle scene in an office outfit ticks both.
Then there is the mess itself. I'm not so much of a fan of wetlook or outdoor mud, but can occasionally be swayed by the right scene. I'm much more into pies (the Pie Fighting Dress scene with Miss Abigail and Honeysuckle is amazing :loveeyes or gunge.
Finally I want my scenes to be fun, so if it was a model I liked in a great outfit enduring a barrage of stinky savoury items that she clearly didn't enjoy then that would be a turn off. If she was embracing the "torture" element of such mess that would convince me the other way but I'd take that decision based on the scene.
In conclusion I have to find the model attractive to buy the scene. For me just pieing any woman doesn't make it sexy, it has to be the right one.

So for my first and only video I have 3 models, 1 formally dressed, one sporty look and one nude, so something for everyone.
The mess is a mix of sweet and savory, so something for everyone.
I present "Bathducks in a colossal foodfight", see my teaser pictures and send me lots of money to see the rest...
DungeonMasterOne said: Something I've long wondered about, why people do or don't buy specific scenes, and which has sort-of come up recently in the discussions on the "Slowdown in Sales" thread: What are your main criteria for buying, or not buying, any given scene?
I'm splitting this into three main areas:
The Model(s): If you'd buy almost any scene as long as it has a specifc person you're a fan of in it, vote this option.
The Outfit: If the over-riding factor is what someone is wearing. So if you'd be tempted by almost any scene that contained people getting messy while wearing specific types of clothing, vote this option.
Naked WAM: If the over-riding factor is to see people getting messy naked (but not having sex or masturbating - that's the "Hardcore" option below), vote this option. Fans of stripping to nude in the mess should also vote this option.
The Method: If the main thing is how someone gets messy, so being pied in the face, or clothes filling, or a gunge tank, or bathing in mess, or the Human Garbage Disposal situation, or cake sitting, is your main requirement, vote this option.
Hardcore: If you're only interested in messy scenes that contain actual sex, or masturbation, or toy insertions, fisting, etc, and would never buy anything that doesn't, but would be tempted by anything that does, vote this option.
Obviously in many cases decisions will be based on more than one criteria but for the purposes of this poll, vote for the single thing that will **most** appeal to you in deciding to buy a scene.
As ever, feel free to also comment too!
DungeonMasterOne, I think that IMHO it's definitely a combination of all 5 options, rather than there being an absolute single factor, however I would say that I would weight "Model" as being the single most important factor, as whilst I'm a fan of nude WAM, I will forgo nudity if it is with a REALLY great model who I know always makes a good scene, sometimes a specific model will make me buy from a producer whose work I haven't purchased from before, or who is new and an "unknown quantity" in terms of the standard of video they will produce.
So for example if a video stars Ivy Rain or Lottii Rose I will generally buy, regardless of the producer likewise I'm not generally a fan of boiler suits or wholly clothed WAM, but I'm far more likely to buy one of your videos if it stars Honeysuckle Saccharine or Maude, especially if it looks like they will put on gunge-filled boots and then remove them showing gungey bare feet which brings me to the next most critical factor the nature of the sliming
If it includes gungey bare feet, even if the model is still wearing clothes or a swimming costume, it's likely I'll be very interested.
I'd have to say the situation. The only aspect of this WAM fetish that attracts me is the WAM Wrestling bouts/clips/scenes. I don't care for girls just getting covered in mess, the wam sex, the slapstick wam (getting pied/slimed whatever) or anything like that if it isn't women messy wrestling then it isn't for me. I have no issues with people who are into that other stuff I just prefer the wrestling aspect of the WAM fetish.
It's the outfit 100% for me. Something involving a maxi dress almost always does it for me but it has to actually be a maxi (e.g. no shorter than ankle length). One time I bought a scene of this model jumping in the ocean with a striped maxi but the dress turned out to be more of a midi if anything, and in retrospect I should have realized because in the preview pic it didn't look that long but I was still a little bit like oh whoops.
At first it was evening gowns but then one day in high school while it was still warm out a teacher of mine wore a maxi to school and I had a lightbulb go off in my head. That night I found a photo set that's actually still on this site today (some sort of contest where either the winner or loser had to get messy) and one of the pictures was of whoever got slimed stepping out of the tank with the dress absolutely covered and it was just like a switch went off in my head.
To a lesser degree it's also the situation. I feel like I like something more organic (e.g. a news anchor getting slimed while covering some sort of event or the videos from Make it Rain where someone pulls every single water balloon and gets absolutely soaked). Although there's a married couple here that has full body pics post getting messy and I feel like it's only a matter of time before they do something with her in a maxi.
In an unfortunate coincidence, there's a picture literally on Google of a model fresh out of the ocean in an absolutely soaked black maxi dress and jacket, and it would be perfect if she didn't bear a strong resemblance to the wife of one of my cousins.
