This is a great thread, it's brought back lots of memories of staying up late and scouring yahoo groups for the latest updates. And downloading 3 videos every 24 hours from wammonkey.
ECGunge was probably the first thing I got into when I had the bright idea to type 'gunge' into Google a couple of years after the Y2K. Pity it went down a couple of years later, but by then I'd discovered the rich vein of uploads on to YT from old shows I'd thought I'd never see again.
The Gunge Emporium was my gateway. Not only did it remind me of some scenes that I'd seen on TV (Noel's House Party, Get Your Own Back), but Mike Emerson actually compiled and sold VHS tapes full of clips which were the staple of a number of yahoo groups. Moreover, it made me realise I was into WAM. Very indebted to that site as a result.
I used to visit Wamdreamgirls.com when I first discovered WAM and all because a video in YouTube named "That in mud", it was a compilation of pictures of a sexy thai girl in mud, I found the site and I decided to bought videos, unfortunately I was too young to own a card and I was not brave to tell my parents about my mud love, when I got my card, when I turned 18, it was too late, the site was down and the videos lost, I am still looking for them, if someone has any, I would love to have them
I still remember how it all started. I used to feel weird watching Double Dare and YCDTOTV, but never knew that there could be others like me out there.
I was doing a project for astronomy back in the 28.8 Kbps days, and looked up the Messier galaxy. Along all the sites that pulled up on Ask.com (later Askjeeves.com) was a site called Messy Fun. I clicked it not knowing what it was about.
That opened my eyes to an entire niche world that rested just under the surface. I never had much money, so I'd sub to a site for a few months until I couldn't afford it, then wait until my money built back up and do it all over again.
I still fondly remember Phoebe and Silly Gilly. I wish we could purchase some of their old media, but I will respect their wishes not to have it displayed. I've warn out a couple of VHS tapes from the media I'd order. I also had contact with a friend who could get me Splosh! magazines.

ecgunge started on there and there were multiple ecgunge groups on yahoo
Djspromo stories website on geocities
anotherfinemess and bbcgunge which were run by some guy who I think was called Marty Penn.
At some point I stumbled across UMD but due to being under 18 I obviously wouldn't have browsed the site
Fun times even if the internet was much more of a wild wild west than it is now.
I remember old Marty Penn. He was banned from here after some shitshow. He had a huge online feud with another guy that ran a wam focused Yahoo Group. The good old days indeed...
I remember the days of feuds and on-line battles between different factions. There used to be lots of forums and groups, etc, part of the reason the UMD is stil here when most of the others are long-gone is that MM always kept things very non-ego-driven around here. The primary moderation rule, "respect the party", rather than "the mod is a god" or similar.

Kaol's Ol' Sinking Hole - only to nearly fall out of my chair when "Help me! I'm sinking in quicksand!" screamed out of my computer speakers, followed by much paranoid rubber-necking around to see if anyone in the house heard that signal of my illicit web browsing.
That is exactly what happened to me at work. I don't know if my co-workers from that long-ago, long-dead job were better or worse than the people who resided in your house, but two weeks later I had the internet.
I remember when the ability to add sound to web pages first became a thing, and lots of bands got yelled at by their fans for having auto-playing tracks on their sites' front pages that then got people into trouble at their work for illict browsing. Same era as when web designers would design sites for their own state of the art, large screen systems, the sites were then often almost unusable by anyone with a smaller monitor and less powerful computer. The web has come a long way since then!
Marty Penn! I was remembering his pictures just a week or two ago but could not place the name for the life of me. I just remember him posting pictures of himself and then getting mad when guys were into it.

I remember that. If you're posting stuff on a forum with a varied user base, you've gotta expect you'll entice more than your intended audience. Didn't someone say he died in a car accident while on vacation?

Th yahoo and MSN groups were such a big part of the early wam scene on-line, I think if I delve ono my archives there's quite a few pics and videos that were sourced from there. I remember a lot of very neiche fan groups on there too.
Damn, thanks for the update. I fade in and out of the UMD. It really sucks that this happened. I wonder what happened to her? She was definitely a pioneer but it sounds like she wasn't really into WAM. Which I think is the case to most models. But she always seemed to be a good person and understood the fetish. Definitely a loss to all.

She passed away in 2019, aged 46
It's incredibly sad when someone so influential passes on without much fanfare.
There's been a lot of people that produced great early online wam stuff that just quietly stopped. Like messy Mercedes, sweet Sophie, messy maddie, Lauren, ab fetish. Just to name a few, I hope they're all doing well.
