I wonder what makes the perfect pie hit? I know everyone has own preferences but I would say there are a few basic steps.

1 coverage. No matter what type of pie you like, I think we all agree that coverage matters.

2 timeing. You don't want to hit the "target" unprepared and get it in there eyes nor would you want to see their eyes close right before the first hit.

3 Force. You don't want hurt your "target" but not enough force could effect coverage.

To all producers, models, and fans of pieings, what would you say makes the perfect pie hit or how to take a pie?

P.S. see I can make a post with out saying fantastic or wonderful pics. Wait, dang it.

Definitely agree with each of these. Might I add a couple of things:

1. The sound it makes on impact. A nice big THUNK! as face meets filling and the crust explodes makes it a multisensory thing, which amps up the appeal to me. Not only do you see someone's face disappear, their hair blown back, and their body clench up, you also get the pleasure of hearing some poor guy or gal's face getting destroyed by a pie.

When I'm editing my own videos, I tend not to react to big splatters or even good coverage, but when I hear a big BLAM, I can't help but say to myself, "OHHH, what a hit! What a stooge that doofus is! Wait..."

For all his faults, Anglefan does a good job of laying some solid hits on people.

2. The victim's reaction, as long as it's a natural one. A cry of distress like "Uhmmph" or "Oh my God..." or even just struggling to catch one's breath is pretty dang cool.

Coverage - not too thick and not too runny, should cover the entire face well and stick to the skin, ideally show the face underneath rather than totally obscure it. A great example is in the clip below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRvjuoPXRIc

Timing - the anticipation is important, the look on someone's face as they know they're going to be pied. Stretch it out, toy with them, build it up, enjoy their helplessness... delaying a pie is like delaying an orgasm. And take them by surprise when possible. Force - firm enough to look and feel humiliating and cruel, like you're savoring messing them up. That said, a lot of non-wammers at charity events etc often inexpertly hit someone too forcefully or vindictively with a pie, which is dangerous, makes it less fun, and at worst risks breaking their nose.

Finally, you can't beat a great pie sandwich, especially from behind.

I agree that coverage is the main thing when it comes to being pied. I don't fuss about timing. I usually have my eyes closed for the majority of the time during pie sessions but, as I mostly use shaving foam, I don't want to be hit while I have my mouth open catching my breath.
Other things that count for a good pieing include the pieing technique. i.e. do you throw it, slam it, rub it in or faceplant it? Something I guess comes under force
Also what substance you use, what kind of base it's served on, etc. etc.

i have learned from pie after pie that if there is no "umph" behind it, it is the most boring shit i have ever seen!

Personally, I'm a huge fan of hair mess. A single pie to the hair, generously pushed in, with the face completely clean (to allow for an amazing reaction), is my absolute favorite.

What if I told you now you're getting in to philosophy of art.

We can look at a good piece of art and say "that's a good piece of art". We can even say what we like about it. But, at the end of the day, we can't say how to make a good piece of art. There's no formula that if you follow you will be guaranteed to make a good piece of art.

The same way with a pie. I could wax poetic about coverage, or crust, or material, but at the end of the day, these are all descriptive, not prescriptive. Meaning I can tell you what I liked in previous pies, but following my description doesn't mean you'll throw a good pie, and not following my description doesn't mean you won't.

The first pie is always my firm favourite!

How much damage can one do with the first pie?

Comprehensive facial coverage and (really important to me) hair and clothing collateral damage. (Remember when pie collars were all the rage?)

To armchair pie fans - it's not nearly as easy as it looks and only improves with practise - both from the thrower and the recipient.

Tit for tat? - Slow paced, deliberate, vindictive! Both splats and slow smears. Mostwam girls do this really well.

I never loved pies that are thrown. I like soft contact, swirling and perhaps...and maybe this is a made up word...upswiping. It covers the face in a nice smooth and even way, no empty spots...it usually fills up the nose quite nicely as well.

Although, I expect that many people would see that as some unholy abomination since it doesn't involve the face. Her reaction though, trying to keep a straight face, but not being able to resist the grin that comes from being embarrassed, is just priceless.
