Now this is interesting too! I actually prefer somewhere around 3-5 seconds. I'm with you that there's definitely such a thing as too short, like if the entire contents of the bucket are dumped in one fluid motion. But once a sliming starts to go on for 10 seconds or more, it starts to ruin the plausibility for me. I like things that are real, or at least very well could be real. If this was real, the victim would just get out of the way after the first 3 seconds. If they continue to sit there and get slimed for 10 seconds or more, my brain says hey, they must not actually hate it that much! It's only realistic (and therefore enjoyable) to me if it happens so quick that it's plausible that the victim is too shocked to get out of the way of the deluge before it's done coming down on them.

Completely agree. It's watery as fuck. Also, yes, self-slimings aren't worth a dollar to me. If slime is gross and something the girl generally wants to avoid, then why would she do it to herself? It makes no sense.

By far, green is my favorite slime color. It's always the color by default; rarely do I use yellow, blue, purple, white, or chocolate to begin a slime scene. Oddly, my least favorite slime color is red. Excellent poll topic you've started, Kelsey!

Green is very obviously the best color as it looks great on any girl. However, other colors are still cool. One of the biggest things with me is contrast. It bugs me so much to see scenes with girls with dark brown or black hair and the first thing on them is chocolate or brown slime. Or a blonde and yellow. Ok, they got slimed and now they look... pretty similar to how they started. Or a brunette against a black background and it's chocolate. Now I can't see them. There's been 2-girl scenes with a brunette and blonde and brunette gets chocolate batter and blonde gets yellow and all I can think about is "Why didn't you just flip it?"

I am just like you in that I am not a fan of self-slimings unless it's from the pulling of a cord/rope. As for hair up vs down is has GOT to be down for me. I want to see all the hair getting ruined. It's a big thing for me.

Shape of the stream I don't have any issue with so long as the slime looks great.

YES! I love when slime splatters all over the models next to the original target or all over walls/furniture/the set.

I'm a nickelodeon kid, but not a YCDTOTV nickelodeon kid. So I def like green slime, but I think it's mostly just because green is the grossest looking color. I usually add green food coloring to my slime, but if I don't it doesn't ruin it for me. I just like the slime to look as nasty as possible here at Slimed Models

For me it's always been more important to have different colours (between slime/gunge and outfit) rather than being tied to a particular colour for either, same with slime colour and hair colour if that's something the model is willing to do (so for me, lighter colours for brunettes, darker slime colours for blondes)

Looks the most intense to me, reminds me of tar which is super thick and sticky but unsafe itself, and is really strong contrast with pale skin.

Also just wanna re-iterate how much that infamous rainbow slime scene sucks from a slime-perspective.

Iconic? Yes. Clever? Absolutely! Nostalgia inducing to watch now? 100%! But in terms of the actual slime, it was probably bottom 3 worst of the whole show, and I hate that it's become the staple for re-creation.

That said, some of my favorite @Anglefan slimings over the years were heavily influenced by that scene, and also, @MadLoversCosplay did a tremendous homage to it that's far better than the actual scene (adding in the mixed leftover slop! YUCK!). So it isn't all sour lemons



YASSSSS! Exactly! Even if you're not in the camp that slime is supposed to be "gross", if it's a humiliating punishment, or even a slight inconvenience, why on earth would this person do it to themselves?!?

I cannot for the life of me figure out how people get off to self-slimings, and would love if anyone who does enjoy them could hop on and help us understand why it works for you



THIS!!!! This is a HUGE thing for me. My suspension of disbelief can only go so far. Even with the conceit that the actress is a willing participant on a show/shoot where getting slimed is a horrible punishment that can happen (and so when it does, she has to suffer thru the consequences she's earned), if it goes on for too long, it just becomes unrealistic (unless she is acting the entire time, which unfortunately, many producers do not direct their models to do).

I don't need for it to be so quick that it's only the length of a shocked reaction, but I also don't want it to go on for an unrealistic amount of time. There's a sweet spot in my opinion, and after doing some careful research , for me it seems to be 15-30 seconds, as evidenced in the last 5 pics below

Also, sliming a woman who pulled the cord herself? A couple come to my mind immediately. From SSStuff and Wetandmessy. In these cases, it's really no different than someone dumping the bucket on her.

I don't care about the humiliation aspect of slimings. If she is clearly enjoying herself then awesome! I just like seeing beautiful women get slimed.

15-year-old SPOILER I guess: Yes, when Toshia pulled the "PULL ME" cord, it was me on a stool dumping slime on her.... and not an elaborate pulley system I spent weeks building for one scene.

Unfortunately, there's a corollary: If you're shooting a "green screen" scene, green is the absolute WORST color to use, because it disappears into the chroma key background and effectively "erases" the person as the slime falls on them. I learned this the hard way with Toshia years ago.... Cool effect, but worthless from a WAM standpoint. (First pic is what you saw in the scene, second is something I included in the Outtakes to show what happens when you apply the Chroma Key.)

Of course, because people REALLY love GREEN slime (see: every post in this thread), I kept using green as the primary slime color for most green-screen scenes, and just kinda turned the effect off for that section. In the classic (?) Carrie & Kelly "Club SlapstickStuff" scene, Kelly gets destroyed with slime, but without the club background. Carrie, by contrast, eventually gets blue slimed, so I could keep the background intact.

(Also, this is one of the few examples of the "slime in hat" gag, where the victim holds their hat upside down while getting slimed, then suffers the additional indignity of having the hat full of slime shoved BACK on their head after. Anyone else love this besides me? Anyone remember which specific YCDTOTV scene did this first? Besides Kelsey?? )

As a videographer/editor/mograph animator myself, I've always been curious how Slapstick Stuff manages to get any kind of semi-clean key at all when using green slime against a greenscreen...must be a nightmare!

As has been said, how the slime is dumped is just as important (if not moreso) than color. It has to be juuust runny enough, from high enough and with sufficient volume to produce that visceral shock of impact on the model's face and get that satisfying splatter. Slow pours from just above her head are uninteresting, and pours from too high and with too much force (like the NHP gunge tank) just result in seeing just the opaque cone of splatter for ten seconds and no visible model at all. It's a fine line to walk.

And most important - I don't ever want to see the person pouring the slime. A big part of the appeal and excitement is the fantasy that the stuff can just magically come out of nowhere to ruin your day if you say the wrong words!

The Shauna Ryanne "Paper Towel" scene from Wetandmessy.com sticks out as one scene that nailed everything about a good sliming, especially her giggly reaction as she tries in vain to put her hands up to stop it.

A couple of my other favorite tropes are when one enthusiastic model gets another "unwilling" model slimed by hugging her close and saying The Words, getting them both doused. Also, I love seeing the tables turned on a tormentor who stays clean throughout (even across several videos to really build it up), only to get her slimy comeuppance at the end. *AHEM* KELSEY.

I'd say Christine in "Bullying" (green water on a wigged victim :miffed and Lisa in "Fads & Fashion" (slimed under a sheet/ghost costume :mad. But hey, who's keeping track...

During this stretch of the series ('82-early '83), what was this slime made of?

This was the applesauce + jello-powder era, primarily due to the wardrobe dept.'s complaints re; getting slime out of Christine's wig, which she wore for the 1982 season, due to getting a short haircut after the 1981 production cycle ended (they weren't sure if the show was being brought back at all, so she went about living her life and got a mod cut )

Interestingly enough, they continued with that thinner slime for the first part of the 1983 season, even after Christine stopped wearing the wig! Then, halfway thru "Rules & Regulations" (the 4th episode of the season production-wise), they switched back to a more vile looking mixture, and did so mid-show! Ross is slimed with the thinner slime in that episode, and poor Christine gets glopped with the return of the thick and lumpy stuff I'm biased, but I'd say she deserved it after getting to wear a wig through all of her slimings in 1982

As the 1983 season went on, the slime continued to get more noxious looking, with different combinations of pudding, oatmeal, cream of wheat, and even cottage cheese being added to the mix, culminating in Lisa getting hit with arguably the thickest slop the show ever made in "Classical Music". (Eugene in "Foreign Countries" probably a close second, or the Nasti sliming in the dungeon, although I'm not as versed in the male slimings, so I could be wrong).

By the 1984 season, they were (thankfully) back to using whatever was leftover in the studio cafeteria for many of the recipes (just in time for Vanessa to get it in the dungeon :love, which made for a much more disgusting looking slime, as well as fun variance texture-wise from episode-to-episode.

They then moved back to the Cream of Wheat, Oatmeal, Applesauce, Pudding, Cottage Cheese mixture for the last production run of the "Original Cast" (the episodes that were shot in 1985, and aired in 1985 & 1986). The one exception being the "Illness" episode, where they made the slime look more foul since it was supposed to be infected

The rotten slime for the "Illness" episode ended up laying the foundation for the episodes that followed; the handful of 1987 episodes used that same slime recipe, and then when the show came back for it's final two seasons with the "New Cast", they whittled it down to just Farina and Pudding, and used milk instead of water as the mixing agent.

We could probably have a whole other thread to discuss the different recipes used during the Slime-In promos, Slime In winners, and the other various commercials and ads that were shot with cast members/on the YCDTOTV set, and why those oddly rarely matched the show's recipes at the time of production. Vanessa for instance took an infamously gross sliming in the 1987 "Worst Of" taping, and yet that slime recipe wasn't used anywhere else (presumably cause it made her sick). Similarly, Les Lye's sliming in the 1985 Nick Takes Over Your School promo is completely different than the slime used in the "Wildlife & Animals" episode, which based on costumes, is clearly when it was shot (Lisa in her Cyndi Lauper outfit being the smoking gun).

All of this info is from various books and podcasts, but also, from just a naked eye perspective, part of the allure (for me at least) about the show's slime (and green slime in general) is that there wasn't really ever a consistent... *puts on shades* ...consistency.

Part of that is due to the show's tapings and airings being so all over the map (slimings that happened in 1984 might air in the same season as ones that took place in 1986 etc), so there was a lot of variance when viewing in "episodic" order. But I also like to think that part of it is because they wanted green slime to remain somewhat undefinable. A revolting mystery mixture of nasty ingredients that could vary from bucket to bucket and only the victim would find out how bad it was after it started dumping down on them. (That's at least why I like to add different yucky things to the base recipe of my slime for each bucket when I'm glopping people )

Aaaaaand all of this info has been, and will continue to, take up valuable real estate in my brain that could be better used for things like simple math or remembering where I set my phone down 10 minutes ago

I was about to ask, is there anything about this show that you don't know? Like perhaps supposed cut slime scenes at least as far as the Nick airings?

I'm not looking for free stuff, just asking.

On a side note, Kelly has got to be up there in terms of most slimings for a model. I had no idea how much she shot between you and Ken. She took some of the best slimings ever. Great reactions.

YESSS to alllll of this and especially not wanting to see (or hear) the person dumping the slime, or anything else that forces my brain to leave it's fantasy land where green slime dumps down on anyone who says the magic words.

For me, the fantasy is recreating the YCDTOTV scenario; a show where some poor unfortunate soul could get horrible disgusting green slime dumped on them if they say those three little words. And a big part of creating that fantasy for me, is taking the mental leap that what I'm watching is a "show", and not some dude (or girl) haphazardly messing up a model for their own enjoyment (which is awesome for them, so by all means, keep doing what you love doing, but not as awesome for me as a viewer).

But on a ""show", you don't see the stagehand's arm or hear the director's voice in the middle of a scene, or see producer interacting with the talent, etc. That stuff is considered unprofessional from a production standpoint, and for the same reason it ruins my slime fantasies; seeing "behind the curtain" on a TV show or movie kills the "fantasy" for the viewers and takes them out of the show's story.

I obviously don't expect WAM producers to be on par with Hollywood (especially since a lot of cntent is people sharing their own fantasies, so we're merely lucky to view them in any way, shape, or form), and I also know that I'm not watching a "show" when I'm jerking off to slime videos. But I want to pretend that I am. And every single thing a producer does to prevent me from being able to do that, ends up being a hurdle to getting off. This is why @PieZone was such a fucking revelation for me when he hit the scene. Those videos are fully produced "shows" .



I LOVE this trope the most! Slimy justice and earned comeuppance are the BEST. It's why Nadia in "Poverty" and Rekha in "Illness" are forever 2 of my top 3 favorite slimings (Vanessa in "Technology" being #1).

And also, re; that last part, just because there aren't public pictures, doesn't mean it hasn't happened...

I came here to add that I have caught up reading this thread! And came to say that (for me)...

- Wigs are a definite no go
- I too prefer not to be able to see the person doing the pour, including their shadow

I know that we've really stepped up our game over the past year for our productions where I pour from behind a backdrop so you don't see me or my shadow, I have a ton of towels over the area tarps so you don't hear the tarps being walked on, and I have blue tape wrapped thick around the bucket handles to reduce sound of them. What I'm saying is, I appreciate the fine details that producers do!

Not to mention our goal is to have The Wife be one of the most slimed models ever. If at all possible. I'll fucking try!!!!

Those are some big shoes to fill! There have been quite a few contenders... but if anyone can give them a run for their money, I know The Wife can!
