From Mrs. Bee's amazing marshmallow fluff pics to the Messygirls videos featuring Justine, Penelope, Amy, Emma and the rest, I gotta say I'm officially hooked on marshmallow fluff. Sooo many questions though, so I'm hoping some of you can help give me your thoughts:
- Who's wammed with it before and how was your experience? (easy to clean up or no?)
- Is the original "Marshmallow Fluff" that's found in the states the stuff to get or is there something better? And is there anything else you can mix it with that you think makes it even more awesome?!
- In both Mrs. Bee's shoot and the youtube video I found years ago (see the grainy pictures I added) the fluff looks smooth. Is that from mixing it up? Did you add something to it Mrs. Bee?
- Question for Messygirl if you're reading: In Amy and Emma's shoot did you really use a full 20 gallons and how many containers do you recall getting?!
- Has anyone ever tried a marshmallow fluff bath?
Just a few questions to start and I appreciate the comments in advance. Thanks all!
We use a substitute fluff made with shave cream, white glue, and contact cleaning solution that has a lot of characteristics of marshmallow fluff but not the sugars. And we save it to reuse, but over time it looses its fluff nature due to off gassing.
i have used big containers of fluff. if you add some maple syrup (get your self a paint mixer and a drill!) then you can make it more pourable......also, when you warm it up and play around with it or sit it in hot water (bc you can order it by the 5 gallon bucket, as seen in these pictures) it becomes to where it moves better as well
you can also, like farm couple said, make a substitute similar to it, its like the shaving foam slime of mine that you like so well. i dont use what they do, i go a little more expensive route. lol. but, i like it better that way bc it adds a shine. (sometimes i can go a little cheaper and get very similar results
webstaraunt.com has them in 5 gallon buckets and they are swift and great to work with! easy peasy, lemon squeezy!!! hope this helps, dear!
That certainly helps! I never knew you could by a 17 pound bucket of the stuff like that! And here I was calculating how many 16 ounce containers someone would need to buy in order to make a crazy custom for me (don't have the funds yet but someday!)!
Jayce, in what videos have you made that shaving foam slime if you don't mind me asking?
you can also make fluff at home from scratch for pennies on the dollar. with a kitchenaid mixer and a recipe i found online i made a huge mixing bowl of it from sugar and a few other ingredients, it was actually quite easy and turned out smooth and silky. honestly i forget the exact recipe but just google it and look around for one that looks easy. some recipes have cream of tartar in them but i didn't use that. i have plans to make an absolute shitload of fluff at home someday but haven't had the time yet. but the recipe is easy to scale up, just make sure you let it cool properly.

Nope, didn't add anything to it at all! We just made sure that the fluff was at room temperature so that it would be easier to work with (it's pretty dang thick if it's too cold). I used those same 17 pound buckets that Jayce referred to.
