I think you just have to explain to her WHY it's such a turn on for you. BUT, make it about HER. The Wife knows that I think she's incredibly attractive, and that's why it's so hot to get to hit her with pies and dump chunky green slime on her. I also let her know the reactions I love seeing, and why, and how good I think she is at them. There's even more detail I could get into, but you get what I mean!
it's a nice idea, I thought so too, but you've got to be with someone like The Wife for it to work. The approach is important don't get me wrong, but.. well this is a topic that comes up over and over again. My two cent unsolicited opinion is it's more like 80-90% the partner, and 10-20% how you go about letting them into your world, but I'm not a salesman or lawyer so I could just totally suck at talking about things
You have to be confident, even if you are pretending to be confident, lol.
bro
you're right though, it is important to carry the "yeah it's not 50 shades of grey bae.. more like 50 shades of green. don't knock it till you try it " vibe
so hard to do the first time around... mad props. But, thanks to you and the larger community here, I am ready for next time

Yes because it isn't really wam. People are not watching wet T-shirt contests for sensualist, public humiliation, or sub/dom play... wet clothes are see-through and everyone wants to see naked women.
Someone with a wet clothes fetish would be more aroused by a woman fully clothed and wet than naked.
Even messy has more facets than the three you mentioned. Yeah people love wet clothes...not like, say, a fetish but it's sexy and has been portrayed as such even when the clothes are not see through. If just nudity was a thing why have wet t-shirts at all, just do topless showers on stage or whatever. The shirt makes the concept.
There are probably a lot of people who are into wam that don't even know the term wam, nor do they know it is a fetish. Someone searching for it might not even find it. The search results are either garbage tube site results or unrelated results.
I remember searching. This was before adult tube sites existed, and I before youtube existed. I searched and found subscription producer sites like messyfun, messygirl, wambabes, etc. I had found this forum through searching on search engines, and it help me to find more.
People could also be searching directly on the tube sites. These tube sites are a terrible representation of wam. Someone might think they have a rare kink because there are only 10 videos of what they like because that is all they can find from searching for it. Someone who is really into it keeps searching and maybe they find this community.
Bad searches may also make it difficult for a person to understand why their partner is into it. Maybe they want to find examples, videos that explain, or just to read about it. Maybe this site is overwhelming for people who visit it to try and understand.

"Wet" is literally part of the abbreviation in WAM. There is an entire section of this forum dedicated to wetlook. As for the latter, I remember a few DiD producers doing water based femdom stuff and others doing catfights. Heck, I actually produced a fully clothed domination style oil wrestling custom this year. It qualifies.
Just because it isn't slime, pies and mud or not as common, doesn't necessarily mean it isn't part of the whole.
There's a scene in an early episode of 'Family Guy' involving Lois getting into a catfight and both her and the other woman getting covered in banana cream pies. It's played in a way that mainstream audiences can obviously perceive to be erotic. There are also plenty of pop songs that mention whip cream in a sexual way.
However, if you explained to the average person that you got off sexually from say, seeing a fully-clothed Lana from WWE face-planting into a cake, then, chances are you would be looked at as if you were wearing a spinning bowtie. Either that or be thought of as a serial killer.
That was an interesting article. This sentence sums it up for me:
"And sometimes, [slime] evokes arousal and excitement thanks to its inherent carnal nature; lubricant, cum, spit, and blood are the most natural ways humans form their own slime."
Erotic messiness is basically an abstraction of cum, lol. That's how I see it. Slime being poured on heads is analagous to a cum facial. It associates with the fantasy of being able to "let go" and have your impulses be free. I agree also with that article there's something to the juxtaposition of messiness with fashion, apparel. We know that. Formal wear, cosplay, etc. Outfits (and hair, and makeup) are often a big part of the fetish.
Skimming the posts, I noticed people pointing out examples of where it is or has been mainstream. And that's kind of what I think too. It both is and isn't mainstream already. *Public opinion* seems to hold that it's a shameworthy kink, just from the reactionary sentiments you often see when it's brought up in non-fetish community discussions. But then mud wrestling is commonly seen as "hot", and all these other instances in TV shows and movies where -- usually women -- are getting wet or messy. So I think pretty much everyone knows it's hot, it's just whether you're "allowed" to admit it or not, based on whatever factors into public opinion.
