"Gunge tank capacity question"

Measurements in analysis based on average female shoulder width/face width. Because front on and side on tank shots had a different zoom I had to estimate the change in measurements based on the difference in height of vat windows.
Estimated measurements I've been conservative with, it is also notable that the gunge completely fills the windows in the VAT above the tank so it could be even taller extending up the inside of the wooden frame at the top. If so could easily be 100L or above.

This is really interesting to see, it certainly doesn't look like i expected. I'd love to ask if you had any more pictures of it? Especially that ball section in the middle. I'm well aware of the effectiveness of this tank as ive seen it in operation more times than I'd care to mention but I am fascinated to look at the mechanics of it.
Ah the old Edmonds tank. It's a bit like triggers broom now, but the tank is 1988. And it's gunged quite a few!

Looking at the old Saturday Roadshow gungings comparing them to the Series 1 & 2 of NHP, it did look like they used more gunge in the tank like 60 - 70 litres on the roadshow
The reason I said around 30 litres is just 'eyeballing and guessing' the flow of the gunge on Ulrika and Jilly Goolden and so on, it didn't look like the full 80 litres even the tank probably was able to hold that much
When we built our first gunge tank we had a temporary 40 litre tank for the gunge which was fine. I think most shoots we only ever used 3 buckets which was around 30 litres in any case. We could have easily used a much bigger holding tank and had planned to but haven't seen any need to go bigger. The valve / hole in ours is 1 1/2" which does give a slower stream with thick gunge or a faster stream with a thinner gunge or beans / rice pudding ! Sometimes a slower more controlled release can be more fun.
We also designed it so the gunge could be collected under the tank and reused, which is helpful.
Our other tank is much bigger and has a much bigger hole. This probably could hold 80 - 100 litres but it's a lot of gunge to use at once. It does come out a lot quicker as well.

As for a Gunge tank with 1500 litres
This is our Dunk Tank which holds around 1500 litres. It's a mission to mix enough gunge for that and we'd be using it for a couple of days. I wouldn't want to mix that much just for a gunge tank for one go!!

I think a 1500L gunge tank where it drops gunge is impractical
Costs it is going to cost a lot to build and fill
Filling it how do you get the gunge up to pour it in
How long would it take to empty
If you try to make the flow too fast it could actually cause injuries
A much better solution would be to invest in a good pump designed for sewage/slurry have a catch tank and you can make an infinite gunge shower. The amount of gunge needed would be a 1/4 of the drop tank
If the goal is to end up swimming it then you could pump from one tank to another or just use a dunk tank
That being said if my numbers come up on the lottery I might have to build it with a dozen outlets so we can have a gunge tank party

We've found that 30 litres (three full buckets) is plenty for a very thorough gunging. We usually make up 4 buckets, and the tank victim uses the fourth one to finish off any areas that are still ungunged after the deluge. Adding more to the tank doesn't actually make any difference as there is only one route for it to flow, while the extra bucket can be used to ensure that areas not in the "natural flow line" (like the victim's knees and feet) can be thoroughly treated too.
Our tank actually holds 70 litres when completely full, which is how much water we fill it with for the drench-deluges that we follow up our tank gungings with.

We are going to do some experiments with the 20L bucket we already have. Also picked up a cheap sink that holds 50L to mess with. The standard drain size on it may be too small so may have to modify it. First need the weather to get warmer here! Thanks again

A good solid sink! But yes, for a thorough flow through you're gonna need a bigger hole.
Then something like the 3d printer valve dude does.

another thing i found good to have in a gunge tank are side flaps to direct the gunge that is umberellered off the gungees head back to wards them half way down.
if you go with a pump system the outlet nozzles can be either fixed in position at different places other than just at the over head or on a ultiple outlet around the tank to which random ones could be "live" surprising the gungee and audience / viewers

We use a commercial sump pump to empty the dunk tank when it's had gunge in and we still need to water it down quite a lot just to get it moving enough to empty it. We did use a petrol diaphragm pump to empty the tank after the clay but even with that is was a
Struggle to pump it all out.

I worked in pump sales for awhile and for a viscous liquid you really need a progressive cavity pump as they can be used to pump things like molasses and still give good flow rates.
But they are wickedly expensive and most will need 3 phase power.
For something that could pump thick gunge at 100L/m would be a minimum of £5k used
Why do you think on TV/film any gunge from a hose is very watery
Thick gunge will be shot at a burst using an air cannon but for continued flow it needs to be watered down
Su.mp pumps will work to refil a tank but won't provide a huge flow
If only I won the lottery and money was no object I could set something fantastic up

You do know that you can just digitally edit the photos. It takes about 2 seconds these days and you can even get AI to do it for you
Or just take the photo from the other side so that the 'secure building' is behind you

NOT true at all, I have been banned from NO sites at all, I don't know who you are but you are clearly misinformed! I have left a couple of sites but that was of my own accord, but I have never been banned from any sites and neither has my husband!
