2020 has been a terrible year for so many people, but is impacting some folks much more than others.
Much of the great content around here comes from producers in the UK (what is it with the poms?) where things are starting to look a bit dire...
So for those of us lucky enough to be surviving 2020 without our income being impacted, now might be a good time to show our favourite WAM producer(s) a little extra love & support. I'm thinking we might spoil ourselves with an extra download or two & liberal use of the tip jar that MM has helpfully added.
These small businesses feed our obsession & may be doing it a bit tough in the months to come if they can't get us new material due to lockdowns etc...

Give our tip to someone who really needs it right now, yeah? NHS workers, vital charities or vulnerable people, you know it makes sense
Speaking as a producer, I'm not special and worth attention for throwing mess over people, but there are people who are doing important things right now that really are worth attention, support and tips.
I appreciate the gesture none the less though
Well said, Callum, *tips cap* I'm with MW on this. If you have any spare wedge give it to people who are working on the front line. As cases rise, more and more nurses are going to have put themselves in harm's way. Don't even set me off about nightclubs and Boris's mentality!
Thank you for the kind gesture however please please please please give to workers on the front line as their life has been difficult enough in 2020 never mind what the next few months are going to bring.
As much as I again appreciate the gesture I am sure all producers will say 2020 has been a write off but if people want to donate, us pouring mess over others is not the way, the NHS and key workers on the front line deserve more.
From all at Gunkedupgirls please stay safe and hope you and families all stay safe and well
As a photographer, 2020 has been, for the most part, a total write-off. I usually photograph events such as weddings, graduations, and other large gatherings, such as business awards ceremonies. I've done sports events too, but due to COVID, work has pretty much dried up. I think I've had just 2 photography jobs since March, so the money just isn't here for me to support producers.
The only good news is that my last little photoshoot was for a young lady needing photos for her business cards and website. We did the shoot, and the topic of being a klutz came up when she lost her balance for a moment. That's when she revealed that she fell into a fountain (on purpose) while out with her girlfriends, and she has a strange attraction to being the klutz who ruins her looks in public. I then carefully told her about WAM, and she got very interested.
Cut to the present - she has agreed to shoot some messy material with me, a photo shoot at first, but then a 'Messy Cooking' series where she plays the hostess who keeps dropping things on herself. Once we have a few videos in the bag, we'll sell downloads here under 'Cooking with Jen'. We expect to start shooting in mid-October, just a couple of weeks away. Luckily for me, she agreed to take half of the video sale money, and I don't have to pay her anything. She's already signed a model release. Getting back on topic, any tips will go to Jen, as she will have to drive here from another nearby town. In the meantime, I have bought a few downloads when possible, as I know things are tight for everybody. I don't believe we'll be hurting any other producer, as Jen's content will be very different from what's out there.
I must admit I have not made any films this year partly because of the original lock down that meant the quarries I use haven't been working And for that reason the clay has dried up. When they do start working again it takes quite a while for the clay to become usable and just as it's got good unfortunately the weather has changed which makes it too cold to have a pleasant roll around in the clay so therefore I'm now looking at next year before I do any videos. Also as this messy stuff is not my first line of work I've also been tied up with my own work as a frontline worker doing lots of extra shifts covering lots of people that have been off ill and even finding it hard to use food substitutes to get messy with knowing that some people will probably be struggling a lot more to buy food to eat more than others so throwing food down the plughole just for the fun of getting covered in it for money did make me make a moral decision not to do it this year, whether that's the wrong or right decision for me I don't know but I'm lucky as I'm in a position that getting wet and messy isn't my main income and can afford to have a year off
i agree the front line workers need better compensation!
that being said, those of us that this is our ONLY means of living? it has been HELL to try to produce.
if you have a cough ? dates cancelled. if they lock things down. cancelled. school is now HOME schooling so, the "house of mess" is usually NOT open for business so IF we shoot? its days upon days of non stop shooting when I feel comfortable to have the house cleared and little person in a place i feel is safe.
Everyone needs help. This is a job as well. but i agree, hell, if front line workers are compensated more, maybe some of them will buy some vids from us to bring some joy to them too! either way....everyone has had it rough. the us is INSANE with cases.
it has been tough. tough to even get supplies with shortages all around but we have worked our asses off to try to keep things going but im literally living off sales...which all us producers know....that sometimes they are not so great. i film what i can a few days in a month or two and then i rely on those sales for my income bc i cant do anything else.
I think it is very kind of you to think of us producers bc this is a job....this is a job that is also fun most times too but we are making content not just for us.....but for you all as well. Producers/models are putting themselves out there with what we enjoy, on the net, for anyone to see, for you all to see, and what we are doing for our living. THAT in itself, is a JOB. we cant blur our faces out. We are all the way out there! We are making our income, our livelihood and i appreciate that you take that into consideration! that is very, very kind of you!
