And while the scene where she's (basically) naked is getting all the interest, we also shot a pretty great "blaxploitation" homage as well. (Long-time fans will remember me trying to pull off a similar scene in 2004 with LeTreya. Not nearly as successful!) Candi Vain as Kandy Kane? It's the role she was born to play!
But seriously.... Candi could've been a bonafide action star.... and/or a super-hot pie model. Either way, at least I shot some great clips with her, so be sure to check 'em out if you're a fan of gorgeous Black women getting suitably messy!
Meathook said: Love it. Wanted to do blaxploitation so much. Such a cool genre of film.
Missed opportunity for bell bottoms.
Still, I love love it and I hope we see it again.
Haha, thanks for the support! You might've already noticed this from the post views, but I can confirm (with sales data) that the WAM audience at large is NOT into blaxploitation parodies. Like, not even a little bit.
But who knows? If or when I ever shoot another Black model, I'll probably get some die-hards to sponsor scenes so it makes financial sense, and we might revisit this idea then.
(And before you email me: Just had a GREAT possible girl drop out, due to hair issues, which is standard. I did reconnect with Candi tho! She's not really shooting anymore but she's in a really good place spiritually now, which is great to hear. Still, doesn't help you guys who want to see more gorgeous Black girls get messy. Sorry!)
Congratulations..that is amazing. I just love the creativity and love you put into your sketches..and they genuinely make me laugh out loud.
I am very familiar with the 'scene you put your heart and soul into' sells 3 copies / 'scene you shot when you had a random ten minutes left at the end of the shoot' sells 50 heartbreak and I feel the pain.

I'll be wanting this DVD on my next order. I love Blaxploitation movies...Superfly,Blacula,Coffy. There was a great movie lampooning the whole genre a few years back called "Black Dynamite".

Great work
Thank you sir! I do still experience that disappointment, but I keep it in perspective now. I actually find that a new release from an existing model won't sell great out of the gate.... BUT I start seeing her older scenes sell again. (All of Candi's SS209 clips have sold multiple copies in just the last few days!) AND I also notice an uptick in streaming subscriptions.
So in a weird way, I'm really "competing" with myself. New scenes now mostly help to increase traffic to my stores... and once there, customers have 15 years' worth of material to choose from. So I totally understand if they grab some older (cheaper? better?) clips instead and hold off on the newer ones.
I still enjoy editing the new clips, though, and if anything I'm MORE meticulous now than I was even a couple years ago. I'd like to think people notice a gradual increase in quality as time goes on. (That's the goal anyway.) And of course, sometimes a new scene hits a nerve and just EXPLODES out of the gate.... That was definitely the case with the one starring Jasmine, her loincloth, and a goofy bear costume.
