3's Company pie fight by gooeypiefight

The Suzanne Somers self pie is my favorite main stream pie in the face of all time. I think conditions were met as far as the temperature of the pies, the amount of force she used, and the slightly tilting her head back, to make it my 'go to' back in the VCR days. My definition of coverage has changed as I get jaded, but that hit covers all of the bases!

Interesting, cuz mine is the Joyce Dewitt pie in face. The pie is crushed all over 2/3 her face and as it hit she stumbles forward in such surprise and she even gives the slow burn expression afterward like Moe Howard. Love how the pie cakes in her hair too.

You say that, but if a producer actually released a scene with 20 minutes of buildup, followed by 1 pie each to an attractive female, 1 pie to an older lady, and the rest of the pies to dudes.... Those sales would be disastrous.

(Although maybe if you had a model as attractive as late-70's Suzanne Somers, that would count for something...??)

Reenact then scene with all attractive ladies. Don't need the whole episode. Just the bake off scene. Follow up the pie fight with the BTS pie throwing that can be found on you tube

BTW, left off of most syndicated replays (to make more time for commercials) and therefore off most YT versions is the final tag, When Jack comes back in the scene, clean, and makes a comment to the Ropers.... who then clobber him.

And I always hoped the BTS footage would show that really cute girl in the background during the pie scene getting pied. Alas...

I don't think she agreed to be pied by anyone. From everything I read, she was a nightmare to work with and famously killed the show via a contract dispute, demanding more money. My best guess it that it was written into the script for her to get pied (as in take a hit) but she said "absolutely not."

Amusing anecdote - but so true. The stats are even worse for the 2 greatest pie fights ever filmed - "The Great Race" and "Battle of the Century"....

Imagine if a WAM Producer had a meeting with his bank manager today and wanted to seek financing to recreate The Great Race pie fight in 2020. The presentation would go something like this ...

WAM Producer: OK...so we have this great idea to do a mass pie fight and all we need is the financing. Our intention is to use 4000 cream pies over 5 days of shooting....and we only have one female...but she is very good looking. We intend to use 1000 more pies than Laurel Hardy used in Battle of the Century and spend 5 days doing the shoot instead of 1 day as L&H did. Sure...they hit several ladies with pies, but those actresses were not as famous as the actress we have under contract to do our scene. We intend to waste 99.8% of the pies by throwing them in the air and on the floor...but we should hit the one female 3-4 times. The budget for this project was $200,000 for the five days of shooting + $18000 for 4000 pies,and that was in 1965 dollars (as per Wikipedia) so in 2020 dollars we need a budget of $1.6 million for the shoot + $145,000 for the pies.....so we need a loan for 1.75 million

Bank Manager: OK, so what are your predicted sales of this project.

WAM Producer: Well....the scene would not be a top seller because we only have one girl and Mostwam produces awesome scenes with many girls, but we expect to make at least 100 sales of the video @ $10....so we should generate about $1000 in online sales and there are still about 4-5 people in this world who have dvd players and might buy a couple of dvds as well.

Bank Manager: OK, so how will you repay the other 1.749999 Million plus interest.

WAM Producer: Don't worry - I am booked to go on the tv show "Shark Tank" and I hear Mark Cuban is a pie fan.

Bank Manager: Wouldn't it be easier to hire Mostwam.com because they could do a much better production with more girls and 99% on target pies for less than 5 grand.

Careful Mark! I made a similar humorous "what if" post where I contact Daisy Ridley's agent.... and ask her to shoot a pie fetish video for 1/10000000th of her regular salary... but don't worry, because the script is great! She "uses the Force" to avoid getting "hit with pies"! Some folks did NOT appreciate our sense of humor.....

More to the point, it amazes me that so many pie fans revere clips where 90% of the pies are hitting men. My best guess with The Great Race is that it appealed to a certain generation who were used to just the occasional quick female pie in a B&W TV show or short.... and so a bonafide famous (and attractive) actress getting several nice pieings in living color was a godsend. (Never mind that most of the male cast members took about 5-20 pies apiece too.)

I'll always go to bat for the Barbara Mandrell show. Two attractive women, two perfect pies, ZERO men. Total cost? $8.50! (In 1981 dollars.)

Let's try not to demonize Somers too much here. The fact is that, at the point when the contract dispute areose, she was paid literally 20% of what John Ritter was earning per episode ($30k vs. $150k), despite the fact that she was very arguably the main audience draw on a show that had been the #2 or #3 most popular show in the U.S. for three years running. Many male actors on less popular shows were making a lot more than she was; Somers dared to ask for the same amount as Ritter was making and ABC decided to fire her instead of pay up.

I have always thought this as well. A self-pie is better than no pie at all, but I am not a big fan of the self-pie. It takes a good deal of the slapstick fun/humiliation out of it.

Regarding reproducing the scene. Despite Mark and Rich's flawless reasoning, I have thought that a scene recreating slapstick classics with new models would be awesome. Rich kind of did this with SS100, which recreated and updated some classic Electric Company and Sesame Street scenes. With this scene you could embellish a bit and do all females-- combine it with a remake of Three Stooges scenes (In the Sweet Pie and Pie, etc.).

Time for yet another of my unshot custom scripts. Lemme reach deep into the pile here...ah.

INGREDIENTS:
1 hot blonde in a tight sweater
Tableful of 20-30 pies

SETUP:
It's the bake-off scene dress rehearsal, and everything's all set except for The Hot Blonde, all nervous about pieing herself, so the director (off-camera) coaches her through her first tentative smushings, until she's blasting herself over and over with happy confidence.

Ready for the following night's taping, our covered heroine looks in the camera and says a punchline which I've forgotten.

I'm still with Rich on this one. I've been here since the beginning and what people say they want and what they actually plop down money for are two different things.

If someone did indeed replicate that scene today, even with hot actresses, that fact that it would only be a few pies and at the end everyone's not naked, rolling around in pies then putting on strapons would be crap for sales.

I'm a pie purist - a very good set up, a small bit of character development, just a few good pie hits and everyone's clothes stay on. Despite the positive comments on ideas like that the ugly truth is the pie community does not stand behind productions like that with their wallets.

When I contracted with the late Rob Blaine to produce Pie Wedgies, my script was just for that - some pie hits and some wedgies. He would not do it. He said unless it ended with all 5 girls on the floor topless rolling around in pies it wouldn't sell. I believe if anyone knew this community well it was Rob Blaine.

I was gonna bring up Pie Wedgies even before this, but that's an excellent point.

I'm probably the only person on this forum who was around when Pie Wedgies was actually NEW! And I was.... disappointed. (Sorry Johnny!)

Not that the scene is BAD, but the buildup to it--which was basically just some BTS still shots that someone took on their camera, showing 8 girls (it was 8, right? Not 5??) in nice dresses and a roomful of pies--made it seem like this was gonna be the most epic thing EVER. And for some, it was. But I was a pie purist back then (and now?) and I just wanted lots of great hits to ALL those models, over and over.

And... that's not what Pie Wedgies is. It's an extravaganza, it's very sexy, and it's an 8-model scene that will probably never be duplicated. And there's a LOT of rolling around, but NOT a lot of quality facial hits. I honestly much preferred Rob's previous Ariel's Pie Shop scene for the tempo, timing, and quality hits. Sorry! Sometimes bigger isn't always better.

It was 5 girls - I choose all of them from TNVideo - they did wedgie customs for me except Taylor - black dress, red blouse.

Was there a different 8-girl video, or am I just confused? Can't find any trace of it online anymore.

The 12-girl pie fight was a very disappointing video. Basically, you can turn the video off after the french maid gets hit. The rest of it is "pie porn" and lame hits.

I bet Mostwam could do it. Their multi-girl scenes crush it. Not cheap I imagine, but I bet it would sell.

I've always wanted to put fourth what I would call the Sitcom Challenge: producers reinvent (and gender-swap depending on their preferences) an old sitcom scene according to their style. I'd certainly buy them.

That 12 girl scenes a bit meh but has one of the funniest moments in WAM I've seen from the utter fucking Carry On style delivery of one of the models saying "our clothes were.... STOLEN!" and then all of a sudden pops her tits out. Great delivery, clearly set the bar too high for the actual proper fuckin scene. Also I'm prettty sure the ending to it is just a loop of footage for like 5 mins straight.

Couldn't agree more. The hit on Mrs Roper, in my opinion, was one of the best pie hits of all time. I don't think it's discussed simply because she's not attractive. If that same hit would have been on Suzanne, it would have melted the pie community.

But it was a nice, solid hit, I loved how she immediately leaned forward - hands to the side of her face but she didn't wipe it away immediately. Just perfect.

The commentary track on the DVD that contains the Three's Company pie fight episode is done by someone who is, I believe, a TV critic. When Mrs. Roper gets excellently nailed with that pie and lets out an unholy shriek, the guy's comment is that we are witnessing Mrs. Roper finally having her first orgasm of the entire series!

(To contextualize that statement for anyone who doesn't know this show well, one of its longest-running jokes is that Mr. and Mrs. Roper haven't had sex in years and that she is incredibly frustrated by this.)

Getting back to Suzanne Somers, I was curious about a infommercial she did some time ok in the thighmaster days. The word is she ended up doing a self caking at some point during the program. Does anyone know if this was comfirmed and if so, any link or pics?
