Good evening fellow wammers. I have fallen on hard times since my father passed away on May 15th and has left me with a mountain of debt and recently on June 10th, I lost my job and I need a lot of help to make ends meet. Earlier this week on the 15th, I started a GoFundMe fundraiser to help me catch up on my father's expenses and if any of you can help me reach my goal or exceed my goal by this Sunday, I will be very appreciative of your kindness in my time of need. Here is the link:
I am not sure if this will help, but debt cannot be passed down to the next family members if there is no money in the estate. Make sure you file probate and stuff. Then just let the companies know that he died and that there is no money in the estate. This sucks to go through.

The term is "Filial Responsibility" and it varies state to state (Searching on it, Pennsylvania, oddly enough is pretty much the only state to actively pursue it.) I had to deal with it a little with my dad, but thankfully his "assets" were non-existent and PA's current laws let us forgo an estate due to that.
Maryland doesn't seem to have any. I highly recommend you talk to your bank branch manager (and if they suck, try another bank). They'll be more likely to give you information for free than a lawyer, but some lawyers may help too.
Cross your Ts and dot your lower case js before you pay for anything regarding him. There is a hierarchy on what is owed and to whom.
That said, as someone else who recently lost his dad, my prayers and love go out to you. Hang in there.
