There have been quite a few threads about what was someone's first messy experience or what the first video they watched that was specifically made for WAM and whatnot but surprisingly, I don't think there has been any thread about how someone found out about the UMD. From what I can remember, I didn't discover this site until about 2 years ago or so by accident, and even then, I didn't really start posting stuff until last year. How did you all find out about this site?

Mine story was realizing I had this fetish or at least finally admitting to myself that I did. So I went on the old interwebs when I was about 14-15 years old. I forgot what I searched, but I found MessyFun and I believe at the bottom of their page was a link to the UMD and the rest was history! I'm like, holy shit, I'm not alone!

I had been visiting Messy Fun and MPV waaaay back in the day, and I think they were each part of a 'webring' that included the UMD. I bookmarked it and used it to find other messy websites as they came along. It was years later when I discovered there was a forum.

I was posting messy pics on my yafro account when someone posted a comment I should post them on UMD ! It was the first time I knew anyone else did this !

I think I found it through the House of Dave website back in the late nineties while in college.

Been here since the beginning, when it was just one of a number of "links" websites that told you where WAM content could be found. Gradually most of the others fell by the wayside, while the UMD steadily developed and grew and improved, all MM's work. Adding the forums revolutionised the experience here, and MM's truly superb approach of conciliation-based moderation really helped the place to thrive. 1998 seems so long ago now, yet I remember when it was the very bleeding edge of technology and a bright future ahead.

Pretty sure I found the UMD through the newsgroups, or maybe MessyFun, but like DungeonMasterOne says, it wasn't "found" as much as the site was basically a good source for links that gradually evolved into the go-to forum.

Yeah, the very, very first thing I found was the Messy Fun special on HBO's real sex many moons ago. From there, when I first had access to some computer time around 1999 I did search and stumbled onto WAMTEC, then Messy Fun online. From there, I think I found UMD as one of the links. When I got there, I was blown away by so many other sites (so many now defunct ) that were out there!

For me, it all started with a pretty innocent search for "pie fight girl" on Google. I stumbled on this site, lurked for a few years and then met my now wife. She was interested in my desires and I showed her a few things. From there, the rest is as they say, history.

God, fuck knows and its was probs only like fuckin 4 or 5 years ago. Discovering 'proper' WAM and not just mainstream clips on youtube proper had me confused when the light-bulb went on that I dont have to patiently wait for peeps to get pied on TV every now and again and could actually just search for the stuff. I couldnt get over that this thing was actually something other people had but also that people were fuckin producing it.

In any case i likely found this place accidentally, lurked for fuck knows how long, then embraced all this surreal world only in order to say how stunning everyone is, shitpost now and again, and peddle Marxism. 4 years (give or take) and its been a (relative) blast.

As I said in another thread, I have been here since it started. When it was a directory of messy sites. Back then it was good to have messy site links all in one place so you could just go through and see if there were any updates. As someone said upthread, UMD was one of a few of these types of compiler sites but it soon outlasted the others because it just offered more. Some people wake up, grab coffee and sit down with the Times or the Journal and read the news. I go to UMD. Just about daily I check in here and have been doing so for more than 20 years. Crazy.
BTW, before the UMD, etc. there was Usenet. asfwam (or something like that).

Actually, UMD found us. Back in 1997 a college grad contacted us and asked if he could add our site on something he was building called the Ultimate Messy Directory.

I'm pretty sure I stumbled across UMD while Googling "gunged women" or similar. That's how I found the other main WAM sites although, for whatever weird, algorithmic reason, UMD was the last of them and took a while.

I came across Splosh and Messy Fun in 2001, Pie Fight Girls in 2002, Phoebe's site in 2003 and finally UMD in 2004. Been here, either lurking or properly, ever since

I am among those who found Messy Fun and through Messy Fun discovered UMD. Back in the day, I found Messy Fun through and advertisement in Playboy for a list of VHS tapes. I found UMD through Wam Story Archive back when it was still around. I checked it out as a lurker but didn't do much. Count me with the other late 90s early adopters. Before that there were a few great stories sites, the handful of great established producers, and a handful of links sites or personal pages that helped you find it all. It definitely felt like a big deal seeing this site and especially the forum emerge and grow.
