So a lot of us recently saw our profiles flip to say we've been here 25 years. Isn't that mind-blowing? And I know that number is actually much higher. Thank you everybody for still being here with me after all this time, whether you have a UMD account or if you're reading this from lurker mode. I love you all.

It's now been more than half my life dedicated this project, the only real career I've ever had, and it's been my pleasure. I couldn't be happier to start the next 25 with you if you'll have me. I'm proud to have watched us evolve organically into one of the most robust communities that has ever existed online or elsewhere. We are an ever-changing, living, breathing organism that has had to defend against outside threats, and endemic ones too. We always get stronger and by this point, I believe we've set a standard for online culture period. New members immediately get "the vibe" and I routinely get inbox messages from them saying how positive and nice everybody is. This is a place you actually want to be and hang out at. You totally get the "spread wam... and positivity" thing and people really do come for the wam and then stay for the friends. This has nothing to do with me, and everything to do with you. Thank you!

I have a lot more to say, but instead of another long post, I plan on writing or blogging more over the coming months. There are certain ways I've seen the community develop that have taught me a lot about humanity in general. I've learned a lot of very deep life lessons from yall and I've never really spoken too much about them. So thanks in advance for putting up with my ramblings!

Thanks again to everybody who came to see us in Vegas! I wrote a corny shout-out thread here but wow it really was everything it was cracked up to be... never a dull moment. If you ever want to feel alive, like you're a part of something you normally only hear about, come to one of these things. Everybody who comes is so passionate about wam, and it's so validating to feel that energy in person and to observe the different perspectives about wam in real life. It's also a great excuse to go live out your own messy dreams! There is a lot of enthusiasm to create maybe a planning board to organize future events, so I've started a new Official Events group. I'm excited to see what emerges from that.

So... we're just beginning our next 25 years. I plan to be here to celebrate the 50th. But the world is burning and AI is coming. Who will we be, even next year? My plans for the site are to bring it more into the modern era of course, with a priority on mobile access, live interaction, and fun. We will stay a private, cozy site against all the forces out there that want to tear us apart. But just as with day 1, I'll be guided by what you, my peers, tell me. So on a positive tip, where do you want UMD and its community to go from here?

Congrats on the 25 years.

I have mixed feelings about A.I. because it is a double-edged sword. If A.I. evolves to the point of being as great as the holodeck on Star Trek TNG, then this will be great for A.I. content creators and for wam fans and consumers but will put real human beings like the models and old school content creators out of work, because there will be no need for photographers, cameramen, models and traditional producers. All the entertainment will be coming from a keyboard via software developers and the most creative A.I. producers.

In a few years time, we may have to create an entirely new genre called "RealWAM" and create a new sub forum where old school real models and producers can promote "real media" from real human beings in real locations". A.I. can never replace "Spontaneous WAM" where the model directs herself and does things in her own ad lib way. A.I. is like a puppet on a string where all the action is controlled from the keyboard by the puppeteer. Mind you, I am a huge fan of Thunderbirds from the 1960's and the puppet version was done much better than then live action version with real humans.

The old "Cliff's Notes" system has been replaced by A.I. ChapGpt that can now write term papers for college students, and we are already in the era of driverless cars, so I am sure A,I. can easily write a wam scenario script and produce it all inside a computer and then in the future project a holographic version I can interact with in my own house. But I am pretty sure my wife will not be happy with that idea.

I think that the way that things have progressed naturally is the best way to progress. Letting things come and go as they will and return again instead of forcing things is something I have liked. The thought of some of the things coming out with AI really has me worried about how it will change our society. Some of the deep fake negotiations being discussed by the writers guild and actors guild are some scary times. Where we have the technology to fake people being in situations and saying things that were never done is not a good path. I think that as a community we are growing and evolving now at a great pace and I can't wait to see what is around the corner 5 months from now or 5 years from now.

This place is really special. I've written over 50 stories. Mostly total rubbish,
but when someone responds and likes what they read, it's good.
You meet people here who share our unique and perhaps peculiar tastes.
Things that made us tingle long before we reached sexual awareness.

This is literally what the writers in the current strike are afraid of. And they should be, as they can't seem to make anything new the past 20 years and just reboot and regurgitate the same shit with recycled IPs over and over again.

With UMDs content a big part of why I still WAM to this day, certainly delighted to see so many involved over the years & fair play to MM for maintaining this room.

Considering the 25 yrs, UMD was still in small shoes when I stumbled in around 99/00, lurking.

I has been an inspiration since.
Learning from the mastresses and masters, improving my mixtures, combining materials, filming plots straight out of my 5 am last dreams.

Absolutely lovely post, and yeah, 25 years, where did it all go? When you think how radiclly absolutely everything has changed in that quarter century, it's mind blowing, and even more so that we are all still here. Huge thanks to MM for creating and maintaiing what really is a truly wonderful community.

25 years ago, 1998. Almost seems like the Victorian age in some ways! No PayPal (not created till December 98), eBay existed but utterly primitive by modern standards, no social media, no Wikipedia (2001 that started), and WAM materials were still supplied on VHS cassettes that you had to send international cheques for and took months to arrive.

Many of us were only just discovering that we weren't the only people on the planet for whom Noel's House Party or the water-based sections of The Crystal Maze were more than just light entertainnment. High resolution meant sVHS or Hi-8 on a CRT screen, and if your computer monitor did 1024 x 768 you were some kind of tech-god and had probably paid the price of a good used car for your computer gear.

The vibe has definitely changed over the years too, as a community I feel we're now far more diverse, and respectful of diversity, than was once the case. This is a good thing, long may it continue.

Definitely hoping Lady Jasmine and I can make a future UMD meetup, Vegas 2018 was just fabulous. Vague plans for UMD30.

Wonderful post. I'm so proud to be part of such an awesome and inviting community. It's been so wonderful to have this place as one of the major outlets of my creative energy. Thank you so much for the work you do and giving all of us the place to show our talents to the world. Being a super extrovert, I'm totally into the idea of annual meetups. I'd also like to throw my hat in the ring for helping to plan some sort of music-driven event that we can channel some messy energy into.

I don't post very often on here, mostly I come to read and enjoy, and I haven't been here the whole 25 years... probably 21! But I wanted to pipe up say what a special community this is, how awesome it is that (for a pack of kinky weirdos, haha) we really enjoy an online space run on respect, enthusiasm, and affinity. It's a really great home to have as we all explore this lovely messy passion we have!

And a special shout-out and thanks to the people who run the sight. Messmaster and the rest of the admin team have always been really thoughtful and fair in all of my dealings with them, and I know they bust ass trying to make this place the safe, intentional community it is. Thanks to all of you.
