Yup, sums up my thoughts adequately enough!

Please note that voting costs £6.50, this is not made clear in the original post!

Why is there a charge of £6.50 to vote and then you have to pay to download I loved the first video where roybin got gunged but this seems unfair to charge for a vote and restrict selling clips to people who's voted.!

So people are encouraged to pretty much crowdfund the video and then the video is only available to those who voted... Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

"Fund my video and control my distribution rights."

I'm not trying to defame this producer, but this kind of marketing is suspect.

It seems that this particular producer (who doesn't usually feature women) is pandering to the "Girl gunge" crowd in effort to crowdfund a video which more than likely will be a male gunge video (in some respect) regardless.

PLUS: The "voting process" is shrouded behind a paywall and there's no way for the consumer to confirm the validity of the tally once paid.

I'm unclear why they've chosen to basically forgo female shoots in the past, considering it's an untapped market for them and they keep coming back to advertise these sorts of shoots, but offering videos of female shoots (few though they might be) for sale previously is different than instead...

Offering the CHANCE to buy a scene you may like only if you spend enough to ensure the outcome you want (and are willing to trust that no one will fudge the numbers)

It's a crazy idea. Which is a shame because if they'd just do a Girl/Girl vote and shoot it, they'd get my sale based on what I've seen in the past.

Thanks for all the feedback! So we have cancelled the vote. We usually run these pay for votes between our male models and that makes much more sense. Here we are effectively putting the vote against two groups of people with vastly different interests so asking them to pay for a vote and then they might not get the outcome of their wish is a little baffling. Call it a mistake but thank you for the feedback!

So while we will still be shooting with Robyn (and her BF) the vote will be cancelled and refunds will be issued to the two voters so far!

Now this is VERY encouraging news. Although your videos have never been my thing I've always been impressed by the quality of them.

I hope you carry on the spirit of some of your other videos but with a "gender reversal" going on (e.g. Boyfriend sets up Girlfriend, two female friends compete against each other etc.) as some of them look to be good fun and a bit different to anything currently available on this side of the fence, which would be a handy USP.

Thanks, its a very exciting time. Been thinking about doing this for a while, we want to expand but in the past we have taken a bit of backlash from our fans for doing female oriented stuff, unfairly because we have done this for ten years are one of the biggest male sites around and while it will still be our core we want to do other stuff.

I just hope the fans we already have do not take this the wrong way. We will be here getting your thoughts as we move into this new area for us.

I don't really understand why your traditional customer base is annoyed by this. You aren't a subscription site so surely they can just avoid the vids with ladies in if that isn't their cup of tea?

Considering how upset female-WAM fans can be about the fact that male-WAM even exists, I understand entirely. On the other hand, it is pretty petulant. Like you said, they're not going to end up financing a clip they're not going to like now that the poll's cancelled.

Still, I voiced my thoughts about this as I had them on Twitter earlier. To me, the mistake wasn't doing a male vs. female poll, but to charge money for votes. A male vs. female poll could be a fun experiment if done correctly, and in such a way that it wasn't an attempt to just play two sides of the WAM fetish fandom against each other. Like I said, there are female-WAM fans who hate the fact male-WAM exists, and no doubt the reverse is true too. As such, it's natural that when a man gets gunged when a woman could have instead (or vice-versa), they get upset - hence why it would have to be done with caution and good faith.

This is exactly why the "pay to vote" model used by SplatHQ is utterly inappropriate for it. You have the upset of seeing the "wrong" person gunged, but with the added upset that their money went towards gunging them. As such the upset becomes a lot more justified. Of course, SplatHQ know this and did entirely the right thing by refunding the voters and calling it off.

I'm all for more female-WAM content being produced, and SplatHQ don't seem to mind making it. I just wonder if there are significant differences between male-WAM fans and female-WAM fans (aside from the biggest, most obvious one) that they're overlooking. I may be wrong here but in my limited experience with male-WAM fans, they seem less discerning than female-WAM fans. Then again, female-WAM fans can be since we seem to be catered to more.

Or I could just be bullshitting.

Yeah I was certainly taken a back by some of the responses we got when we did the video, some were very extreme but their point was there are loads of female sites, why are you doing it!?

I agree with some of the other posts that actual competition makes for a great scene. I still want to see Robyn gunged in the singlet she wears in the promo pics. For another video I have an idea which would possibly appease both demographics. Couples vs couples. Boyfriends trying to gunge their opponents significant other in one round, then round two roles are reversed. Round 3 if necessary is a tie breaker with the clean teammates risking the gunge. Losers clean up and face the tank in formal wear to receive the massive mega gunging. (I know too many people that are married or divorced that I would love to see a couple in wedding attire even if second hand(thrift store) completely covered in gunge.
