Quick notes guys. I've added Transgender as a gender setting for your personal profiles. You can edit your profile to adjust that if you want. Also there is a setting to tell us if you normally post trans content (or male or female content).
A lot of the UMD's pages were already gender filtered based on those prefs, but now this gender selection menu is at the top-right of more pages for more visibility, but it works the same.
Thanks for your patience with the gender thing, as I'm trying my best to find a comprehensive way to fix a years-old problem of, basically, seeing dicks when you don't want to, or not seeing them when you want to.... and ease the moderation of it if and when it does happen.
So head on over to your profile when you get time, and make sure your gender and content gender are what you want them to be.
Messmaster p.s. The forums have not been given this ability yet.
That... is interesting. I've met a few other transgender people (as well as CDs) on here but I was not aware we had a big enough group of us to actually warrant getting it added to the gender settings. Neat. It will be interesting to see how many people swap their settings.
And yea... I'm a transgirl for anybody that has seen my pics and couldn't tell and didn't check the profile :p surprise.

Yeah, the transgender population here is huge and it only makes sense to be able to find people and their stuff based on that trait (once people update their profiles). In the future, this should also help solve some problems of people posting to the wrong place, including the forums.
This is awesome stuff! Just one query - is it possible to make the preferences a little less binary? By that I mean that I like to see both female AND transgender posts, but the post preference option only allows you to choose one. Plus I also post female WAM quite a lot as well as my own transWAM, so my female WAM posts could get buried if people have opted out of seeing trans stuff.

As long as there are men on this forum allowed to choose their own profile pics, you WILL be seeing dicks whether you want to or not.

Spot on! If it's the clothing (hence clothed pics) that makes WAM work (as I guess it does for many Crossdressers like us, as well as non-trans-people) then what's *hidden* underneath should be irrelevant. It's the desire to see what *appears* to be a dressed woman and her femme clothes getting covered.
I know it's a massively thorny problem for you so I'd hate to make life more complicated... but it already is!
Might it be an idea to use a 'presents as' label (i.e. male or female *appearance* irrespective of what's actually beneath (i.e. true gender)) but to do the separation depending on whether clothed vs naked? After all, a 'naked transwoman' is, to all intents and purposes, a male, whereas a clothed transwoman is, to all intents and purposes, a female.
To be honest, this whole 'not wanting to see dicks' business is a bit crazy. I'm a crossdresser but I'm not searching out dick shots as I'm not gay ... but, equally, unlike some of the so-called macho guys who couldn't cope with that and complained so much that they drove us into the male WAM ghetto previously (where we *totally* don't belong as we're not presenting as male!), I don't run screaming from the room like a teenage girl if I happen to encounter a picture of one. How do these guys watch 'regular' porn without seeing a dick? (How do they even look in the mirror?!) Could it be that they're the ones with the actual problem here so perhaps we shouldn't be trying to rearrange the whole of humanity for the few people who can't cope with it? Dunno - just musing out loud now - always dangerous. LoL.
I suppose the retort to that is that it takes real balls to be transwoman!
Anyway .... just my offering for your consideration. It's your site and we're still mighty grateful it's here!

I see what you mean. It's binary like that because to allow multiple gender selections at once (instead of just one) massively increases my coding time, and I had to draw the line somewhere so I could actually get it done. So it's pretty simplistic, but at least now the bubbles are there in the top corner of most pages so you can switch back and forth without going to your preferences. Plus there's the default "All" option which just shows you everything at once, regardless of the content's gender tag.

I did consider offering options for the various factions of CD / transgenderism so that people could more accurately describe themselves. The last thing I wanted to do was disrespect the sensibilities of people who are already misunderstood. Folks like DungeonMasterOne already suggested doing e.g. Cis Female, Trans Female, Cis Male, etc. But at the end of the day I've got to keep things simple not only for the end user, but in the interest of keeping UMD's code under control. For the addition of a single category, the best I could come up with was to name it Trans. It does pigeonhole things a bit, but people are using it and seem to get it I think. I'm open to opinions on the terminology....

Over the years, as sites grow and content gets more abundant, people will start to get more particular about convenience. They want what they want, quickly and with minimal effort. They don't even want to waste one mouse click or one eye glance at something they don't want to see, plus they are reluctant to use filters even if they only require a couple of mouse clicks. The pressure is on us webmasters more than ever, to try to deliver exactly what each user wants and make it as frictionless as possible. I love it. It's a challenge that makes me jump out of bed every single day.
Thanks for that info MM. Yes - as always, there is more than one perspective. What you see depends on where you stand.
It must be a bit of a nightmare trying to satisfy all the micro-niches. I'm glad that you're still enjoying that challenge and hope that you will for many years to come!

Friendly reminder: this may be a reasonable rule of thumb with many crossdressers, but with regard to trans women it's not financially useful for the content distributor trying to help customers find content they want to buy, it's not financially useful for the content distributor that's trying to make a site that welcomes and encourages content creators, and it's not scientifically accurate for the anatomy of a trans woman.
Bailey Jay, Sarina Valentina and Eva Vortex have produced content that falls within the WAM spectrum, and promoting it as 'to all intents and purposes male' would be a very poor business decision, in terms of matching the content to buyers, in terms of securing future deals with the model, and in terms of growing a niche market.
I certainly agree that there are crossdressers and gender fluid people that vary in their presentation, and would expect a distribution service to work best for such producers if it enabled producers to appropriately tag each individual post or set, and consumers to have multiple 'I am interested in this and this and this but not this or this' filters, that can be temporarily overwritten at a single click if ever they feel 'curious'.
Yes, as you surmised, my comments were aimed at those, like myself, who merely enjoy some 'gender tourism' rather than those for whom there is an imperative to undergo full reassignment surgery.
As always, the dissolution of the binary divide makes things extremely complicated.
Your comments are well placed and I acknowledge the shortcomings in my oversimplification. I do hope nobody has been offended by what I said without my having applied a little more thought before setting fingers to keyboard!
