We're still reeling at the death of Carrie Fisher. Earlier today, I heard that Debbie Reynolds was in the hospital from a stroke. Now, about an hour ago, she died.
Debbie was an amazing actress and all-round performer! She was beautiful and very funny!
Back in the '69-'70 TV season, she had a self-titled sitcom that only lasted 1 season. There have been some references to it on here over the years.
There was an episode where Debbie and her husband and another couple went to a restaurant. There was something that happened that "should have caused a pie fight", but didn't. It was *this* close. At the end of the show, Debbie always came out and did a short comment about the show. This time she came out, very well-dressed and looking beautiful, and said something like, "Can you believe that no one got hit with a pie?" At which time she got nailed with one!
I had waited the whole show to see one of the ladies (hopefully Debbie) get pied. That was the perfect ending!
Why I admire her for that show was that, as an owner, she had the right to quit the show. As she did, because she did not want NBC selling time to the cigarette companies
