Update: It's been weeks now, and I'm still transferring the original mini DV tapes to a hard drive. I've had three cameras fail on me and, I kid you not, I had to use a pencil to save a tape. Something I never expected to ever have to do again.
Anyway, the results of using 2020's technology from the original footage are proving pretty damn spectacular.

When Carla took up the challenge, the record for the number of buckets of slime over one girl's head at GungeGirls.com was seven.
Tall and blond, bravely dressed in her blue bikini, Carla went for eight. So we knocked up orange, purple, green, and yellow slime for the barely-dressed leggy blond. For effect, we added a bucket of mixed colors and one very lumpy bucket of orange slime.
All dumped over Carla's head to crown her a Queen of Slime!
(Incidentally, although it's a bit tricky to tell from such a short clip, it looks as though you've either got your frame boundaries mis-aligned, field sequence revesal going on, or it could be interpolating to a different frame rate and trying to blend frames - never ideal from an interlaced original but there's not much you can do about that particular point now, of course. There's visible judder and double-edging (feathering) that's quite noticeable. Thought you might want to know now before you carry on and convert more.)
