Why in the world would you go there? That place isn't on anybody's top 10 list of vacation destinations. Do you know anything about radiation and all the toxic waste in that area? Is there anyway I could have you make a video for me where you cover yourself in radioactive waste?

There's a reason they built the Hanford reactors where they did. The area is nowhere near any major city and there isn't an airport that can land a jet for at least 150 miles. I'm about 200 miles west in the Seattle suburbs if you happen to get over this far.

In fact, if you are flying in, you aren't going to get a direct flight to anywhere near Hanford anyway. You'll probably have a connection from Seattle, Portland, or Spokane.

You should just head north instead and come visit buetiful British Columbia.

Reading an article about the tunnel collapse, it sounds like it's a very local incident, with the only hazard being to those in the plant itself. There's no contamination in the air of nuclear waste, and no spread to other areas.

It sounds bad because "nuclear waste," but in reality, it really makes 0 difference to the surrounding area. Jayce, you'll be perfectly safe as long as you don't visit the plant itself.

argh sadly not... I'll be doing a west coast tour and doing san diego, LA, sacremento, and San Fran over the coming couple weeks... will have to put of working with you till later in the summer

the guy who was gonna fly me out there actually works at the plant as a cwi, so he is in the reactors quite often. he had to go to the emergency room the other day bc of heat stroke being in one of the reactors so long!

i would actually love to go to the plant, since yes, i am going to school for welding and he inspects that stuff and not only that, i would love to see the birth place of plutonium!! i mean, its actually really cool!!
i kinda nerded out on youtube about it. there are loads of documentaries. he works at plants all over the country and he really likes this one. working inside reactors is just part of the gig. plus, he is the only cwi that is not over 400 pounds, so he always gets the shit/hard jobs.
i am still trying to figure out days to come out there and i saw where i would probably be flying into the seattle area so i was gonna try and stay there a day and a night, probably then the next day too before he came to pick me up. he said its about 3 hours from his hotel. i have just always wanted to go out west and if someone is paying for half my flight, hell, i dont give a shit where i go, honestly but i do find the area insanely interesting!

That is awesome!!! I know a lot of welders. You can make some great money in that. But you have to be careful. A few of them I know work in some of the mines and they are quite dangerous. I tried to learn once but I do not have a steady enough rhythm for my hand to keep my bubble flowing right with the weld. I am too impatient and try to move too fast. Causing oxygen issues and all kinds of shit.

Aren't there, like, a QUADRILLION uses for welding that DON'T involve mines?
I mean, constructing ANYTHING with METAL, it seems.

that is so funny. i was the flashdance girl in a school musical one year. i did all my own choreography and took some from the actual movie, put the outfit together and did a solo dance (we did a walk through "time" in music) super fun!

anyway, i had to cancel my trip due to my doc not clearing me for it. dont ask, i dont wanna talk about it....if you even care. lol. but indeed, i cannot go bc of a condition i have had a long while that has gotten worse and i have to stay close to the center that i am receiving care at this time i am fine! no worries!! i will always prevail!!! but yea, it would have been my first time out west so im pretty bummed but you can ask ariel, i am okay, i am doing good and i am kicking ass and taking names, either way! yay!!

Well good for you Jayce! I personally didn't do all to well in welding class. And that's bad for someone who went to school for auto body / customization. That's why I loved panel gluing.
