Hi everyone, I am interested to find out where people meet when arranging sessions? Is it mostly hotels? Or does anyone know of any venues that can be hired as required (on an hourly or daily basis) mainly in south / south west England? I find a hotel limits what and how much I can use, plus I worry about accidentally getting mess where I shouldn't! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
If travelling to see someone then hotels and LOTS of prep! Seriously, it looks like Dexter's kill room after I'm done! But you pay for the evening so time is not an issue. If you cam, try and get one with a disabled room as the bathroom is often larger and easier to play in.
If not travelling then I am fortunate to have my own house, but that has yet to happen.
Hiring a venue would be easier but I would have to weigh that against the cost and the fact it would probably be non-sexual, nude, PG-rated etc. If that's what was arranged then fine and nice for someone else to do the clean up!
I used hotel rooms on various tours. I like travelodges and premier inns. Take all the wam stuff in, in suitcases. I used to pack buckets, gunge powder, cartons of custard, scissors, heavy duty plastic, pools, binbags, cleaning kit, outfits, tin opener, floor wipes, whisk, wooden spoons, electric air pump for blowing up pool, scrubby brushes... everything you could possibly need.
Or you can charge a bit less and insist the person having the session sorts all this out for you! Anyway...
I would put the bed up against the wall (literally upend it so the base and mattress are on their side) to create more space in the room, put plastic around (always really heavy grade not that stupid floaty stuff) inflate the pool, get the messy items ready and voila... one session ready to go. Watch the ceiling if you splat pies!
Put the do not disturb on, lock the door and put the chain on. Be careful with the fire alarm - steam from the shower can set it off so close the bathroom door when mixing gunge, warming gunge and showering. Open a window in the room if you can when you get to the showering stage, even if it's cold out
Have everything warmed up slightly before you pack it. Even room temperature items can feel cold on skin.
If there was an obvious and easy place to get rid of rubbish like a big commercial bin outside I'd pack up triple bagged rubbish into my wheely suitcase, take it down in the lift and throw it away.
If not I used to again, triple bag all rubbish and make sure each bag is not too heavy, then leave a £5 tip for the housekeeping staff. I have never been banned from a hotel chain yet lol
Second the "visit Manchester" come-on. That's where my profile pic was taken! You sure don't need to worry about making a mess at Andy's but from memory it was cold outside of summer!
To follow up on Candy C's tips, those in North America might want to consider using hockey kit bags to tote their gear in and out; They can hold piles of stuff, routinely have wheels and tote handles, and pass through hotels so often with traveling guy & girl teams that nobody blinks twice when you rumble them through the lobby. Goaltender bags are even bigger, because of the sheer amount of gear they use.

It was a great day. Very messy and sticky, then fluffy. I remember it well.

Hi Isla - if you find the perfect place, let me know Going to Airbnb places is slightly hazardous! Xx
Frantically taking notes over here! I'm in the process of arranging a play event at someone else's house and while they are going to redecorate (hence offering it as the venue), I don't want to accidentally cause any damage!
