Amy Schumer just got doused in a bunch of milky substance on her show. I'll post a clip tomorrow if no one beats me to it.
She also dug her way out of a large cake that I don't think anyone has ever brought up on here. I have no idea which episode it was, but it wasn't significant enough to hunt down.
Spoiler alert (in case you'd rather first watch the scene before knowing how/when things happen), here's a brief description. [Also, I don't have the clip, sorry. I posted her "Ice Bucket Challenge" vid for those who missed it.]
In the first half of this week's "Inside Amy Schumer", a sketch features Amy satirizing typical starlet behavior/answers on nightly talk shows ("I can't sit down", "I'm always cold") with Bill Hader acting phenomenally great as a tool of a host (pandering and overselling all the way; Bill plays it really well). Amy's flirtatious actions and comments have begun to sexually arouse a few of the guys near the front row of the audience and they begin to get a little... vigorous. Well, the "climax" of the scene occurs once she reveals that her favorite movie is STAR WARS. WAM.
Gotta appreciate Amy's bold style. She is a fearless comic (and clearly not afraid of WAM when the comedy suits the scene, as was also shown in her "Ice Bucket Challenge" video last year which I've posted below). The fact that the WAM in the episode happens to her all glamorously dressed up and as a complete surprise in the scene is very nice as well and is a rarity in today's modern tv comedy world.
If occasional WAM can convince some of you to watch Amy Schumer regularly, then GOOD! This is probably the best sketch comedy show on TV right now. Very smart, very funny, and definitely pro-female in a way that doesn't anger me as a privileged white male. (Can't read the stuff on Jezebel. Sorry.)
Her full-length parody from last week, 12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer, was absolutely perfect. And some seriously great acting too.
I'd argue that Key & Peele early on was the best out there... At least for my sensibility. But this season really fell off... You can tell producing more shows tended to water down the best stuff, plus those guys have a LOT of other things on their plate now.
Amy S is crushing it now though. Far and away the best. (FYI I'm not a fan of Broad City, but I know others love it, so fair enough.) And much as I hate everything Judd Apatow puts his grubby paws on (thanks Neil!).... It looks like Amy's new movie also has potential to be great.
Anyway. I love her comedy and I'm not really attracted to her at all, but I appreciate her working some WAM bits into her humor. (As opposed to my method of working occasional humor into WAM bits.)
Inside Amy Schumer is consistently funny, unlike Broad City, which is hit or miss. (When it hits, though, I'm in tears laughing. The first season's episode with Amy Sedaris as the Real Estate agent comes to mind.) Anyone used to watch Kroll Show? Loved that one too. Anyway, I think Amy is pretty sexy, and I'm looking forward to seeing Trainwreck.
Couldn't get into Kroll because most of his targets seemed to be reality-show types.
Don't get me wrong. He was VERY good at mocking clueless reality-show types. But it felt too much like watching actual clueless reality shows for my taste.
I really like Nick Kroll, but i couldn't get into his show, either.
Key & Peele...i like those guys, but the show (1st season) was way too hit and miss for me, and i tuned out.
I'm a huge Amy S. fan; i find her attractive, and all the more b/c of how fucking cool and smart and sharp she is. Her "am i hot enough/should women be on tv?" stuff gets a tad repetitive, but I also try and remember that there's not been anything really like it in sketch comedy since, well...when was Carol Burnett a thing?
I remember the cake episode, but i also remember it not being quite WAM-y enough to make a splash about (though obviously tastes/levels differ on here, as to what constitutes a "good mess").
The "12 Angry Men Inside Amy Schumer" episode deserves an Emmy nod. Nick DePaulo, Jeff Goldblum (unsurprisingly) and Giamatti were stand outs. Much like with, say, AIRPLANE! they hired a mix of comedians/straight men, and everyone played it almost entirely in the key of genuine/honest, vs. slapstick/hammy, which gave it even more potency.
Between that ep and the one the week before where she's the police officer nobody notices, i love the "Oh, sorry, Amy, i didn't see you there - i thought you were a...." gags. Very funny.

The part where the main protagonist asks Pete from Mad Men if he drinks in bed and he replies "Every night until I pass out, what of it?" The wife and I lost it.
all the funnier re: that "til i pass out" line was it kind of slid under the radar - -there were several low-key but very well-written lines, that perhaps being the best of them.
(Although you can't beat Jeff Goldblum and Jon Hawkes waving around a dildo.)
As i said, i like that that episode wasn't just broad and obvious, it was really well acted, it didn't just go for cheap laughs.
I'd recommend Key & Peele for... Season 2 and 3, I believe? (This season that just finished was Season 4?) I love how the skits are funny, but they also capture the aesthetic... So an action movie parody has that Hollywood sheen, the Mr. T parody looks like the actual 1980s Mr. T VHS.... (That was a funny skit BTW.)
The Halloween episode from 2013 is a classic. It IS a bit hit & miss even in its best moments, but most sketch shows are.
12 Angry Men IAS absolutely deserves an Emmy. Stop nominating SNL every year, Emmy!!
