Hi, gentle nudge on something...
I would suggest in future you say "was mis-gendered at birth" or just "transgender" because some transfolks don't like the term "used to be a..." as they have not changed per say, but are now living their authentic life, or just don't like to be reminded like dead-naming!
Some transfolk are fine with what you said but it's just a loaded statement that's best avoided.

Because this is exactly the discussion we all come here for. You could've just acknowledged that maybe your hamfisted, Neanderthal description could've used some work and kept it moving.
Admin post: this is an issue that generates a lot of strong feelings. However it's probably for the best to avoid personal attacks, or things just spiral into a flame war. Always remember MM's primary rule, "respect the party."
Our policy is that we respect people's gender identities while also acknowleging that on a visual media site like this people expect the content to be classified by what they expect to see. This thread should have been tagged Trans - I'll update that now - but in general try to avoid describing a trans person as "used to be a guy/girl", if their identity is different to that assigned at birth, as far as they're concerned they were always the gender they transitioned to, just born in the wrong type of body. Best just to say something like "who is trans" and that way there's no pejorative implication, just a factual statement. And tagging such content Trans means those with strict filtering set can avoid if they want to.

Having empathy for people not like you doesn't come from being politically correct. It comes from wanting to be a good human yourself.
Being a wammer, we should all understand what it's like to live a life being different or not accepted by others for who we are.
Even if you disagree, I just can't understand the vitriol. Why do you even care about this more than, say, a person's taste in music. It's like people are *personally* offended by the existence of others who are different.
