Attention: We need help! Me and my family had to move into a tent city on 12/30/23, and they gave us a tent with a 2 1/2 foot long slash in the side of it from a knife, when the previous owner was robbed. The left side of the tent gets soaked every half an hour from the water that they drain off the "kitchen" tent. It never stops raining here in Seattle. We never get any sleep because they have power at this camp, and the microwave door gets slammed every little while since the kitchen is open 24 hours a day. Recently, Seattle experienced a cold snap that lasted a week and a half where the temperature hovered around freezing. We were supposed to get a new, non-leaking tent from the "tent master", but he wanted to keep the largest one that would fit my family for his dogs and he wanted to sell the other one for drugs. It was only obvious. We have been waking up with wet blankets and spending all our money going to the Laundromat in the morning to wash and dry everything in hopes of it staying dry. It's nuts, but my stupid case manager at my mental health place said that the only way to get my housing voucher back is to be homeless for four consecutive months, and they are in charge of the voucher, so I'm just doing what needs to be done. I'm two weeks in and I don't know if I have the strength to do this for four months! We need to maybe just buy our own tent if they're not going to give us one. My kids don't even have long johns to wear under their clothes. Anything you can send is by way of money right now would be so, so appreciated!
