Mae Jones is leading Vicky V to the site where she buried a whole chest full of stolen jewels. The two girls walk along the edge of the river, getting their shoes muddy. They decided to remove their shoes are crawl out on the mud getting their skirts and shirts filthy. Vicky is reluctant but Mae assures her this will be worth it. Unfortunately the Mae doesn't realize the spot she buried the jewels has turned into quicksand due to recent heavy rain. Too late the girls realize they are not only stuck but sinking! Mae goes under first followed by Vicky who blows out lots of bubbles as she sinks.
