So I have a LOT of WAM videos in my personal collection that I've accrued from producers' stores as well as customs over the years. I refuse to delete any of them to make more hard drive space as I love them all but that being said of course I have my favorites, which amongst my favs a few of them are either producer-made compilations or compilations that I made myself using video editing software where I basically compiled my favorite parts of different videos. No complaints!
And so I'm curious about what others think about video compilations, like are you willing to buy one from a producer instead of full scenes of what's included, or do you make your own at home and if so what video editing software do you use? (Personally I'm all for them and am looking for new editing software to download as I've been using Windows Movie Editor since the AOL chat days basically haha)
I go through streaks of making compilations. I also like the first pie hit, so I will string together a bunch of those into a ten minute comp. I have about 20 of those. Often I will do themes instead of first pie hits: Celebrities, amateurs, phrases. My most recent one is a compilation of probably one of my favorite models of all time-- Angelfan's The Art Student. Right now I use Movavi to do editing, but it is way too fancy for my needs. I am not adding swipes or special audio effects, etc. That said it is good software and I find it easy to use.
I've been making compilations for YEARS now. I'd download everything onto my computer, and once it got to a point where I had enough to fill a DVD I'd proceed to put them on one. I used to edit the videos into one long video compilation (I'm not sure, but I think that's the only way you could view them on DVD players back then) with a DVD editing program, I forget what it was back then, but it was something I'd purchased at Best Buy . Now I usually just drop the video file on the disk and play it as it. Occassionaly I'll edit the videos down if I there's a build up that I don't need or an ending I don't need or other fluff that I'm not into, but only if it makes the file significantly smaller in size. I do this now using the Windows video editor, which is kind of crap, I'm sure there are programs that work much better than actually give you options to save the projects into way smaller sizes, but it works for me.
Over the years I amassed something like 33 DVDs worth of stuff. Friggin' ridiculous. Couple years ago I got a new computer and ended up getting an external Blu-Ray drive. I spent a good week taking all those compilation DVDs and cutting and editing the DVD movies into individual MP3 files of every scene...then I separated them all into categories with folders of producers, models, content...so I have all my Messy Angel stuff, all my GungeGirls stuff, all my MostWam stuff, all my EEWetlook stuff etc...all together on Blu-Rays. Also instead of having like 5 or 6 picture CDs, I got them all onto one Blu-Ray. I think I'm down to just 8 discs now. You can fit a hell of a lot more stuff on BluRays than DVDs.
if ANYONE who buys the same type of video of mine? ever wants to give me a well edited and high res compilation of my stuff??
i would pay for it.
or trade you with videos. or whatever.
the only reason i am leery of it is when you do a compilation of someones video it takes down the resolution. so, if i have the raw files, i would try to send them to someone who bought those scenes before and have them do it for me. ill be honest, i hardly have time to edit what i DO. so anyone else doing it for me? would sincerely be helpful!!!
One of the tricks is to ensure that everything is high resolution. Many compilers take the finished video down to the lowest resolution in the compilation.
If you go to my stores right now, you can search with the keyword "compilation" and find a TON of compilation clips. There's 59 in the HD store and 115 (!!) in the Original one..... The latter includes comps where the original material was SD, including "Blondes" and "Brunettes" slime and pie clips that cover basically that whole SD era.
These days, I mainly just do "Year" comps with the first few pies (or slimes) from the past year, and those tend to have a very loyal audience. (2020 was "Year 9" for HD, following 7 years of SD.) "Just The Cakes" also has a nice following too. (16 comps so far!) I might bring back "Just The Hits" for specific models again though.... Those are really fun, especially for long-running models like Breana or Toshia. (Watch her hair change color 6 times!)
We have a few compilation scenes but also offer what I call Al a cart! You can build your own with almost any of the ones from our store to make your very own. A few have taken advantage of this already and those are in the store too. We currently do already have a few best of's and some shaving cream ones but a whipped cream one coming soon.
I did several of them for my various stores (see my signature) at the beginning of the pandemic since I wasn't doing any shooting. Mostly pie hits. They have sold pretty well.
FYI, there's just no reason to ever delete anything these days unless you absolutely hate it. I ran across a hard drive ad the other day that finally hit the holy grail point of $10 per terabyte (16 TB for $159)
A quick reminder for those storing on optical disks: unlike professionally-pressed disks created by major production facilities, "burned" disks suffer from bit rot after a few years. Disk formats and video formats all have really good error correction built in, but they only work up to a point. Once enough bits fail, you start getting glitches in the playback. If the bits holding a disk index fail, the disk will become unreadable. Even those who already have everything backed up should be making yet another copy and stashing it somewhere else. The cost is trivial compared to losing years of your life, memories, and important documents.
When Splatter Island was actively filming, I would make compilations of various events throughout the year. The first pie, the first slime, I've also done Punishment Cove.
An individual may have a favorite action, and that's what they want to see, but might not be able to spend anywhere from 30 to 120 a year to get them all, so they are cut together at a reduced price.
Or someone may want a compilations, but not be able to make it themselves, and for one low price, it can be provided for them.
Yes, I make them...my 'Just Pies' compilations tend to do pretty well (we are up to volume 17, and I am currently compiling volume 18). I don't know, but I have always presumed they mostly sell to those who aren't bothered about a set-up or scenario or even a game to come to a point where someone gets messy..they just want the money shots over and over and over. It's certainly true that compilations are a good way to get a non-stop barrage of pies with loads of variety. So I do see the attraction.
In terms of compilations made for sale, I have several. A couple are just overall compilations of favourite messy scenes, one is a collection of our sexier stuff, and the rest are either pie collections or slime collections.
I probably won't be shooting any new stuff until 2022, but I'm thinking of creating a few "best of" compilations for sale, like "Best of Junko," "Best of Mai," "Best of the 4 Girls from Osaka," etc. Also, I was thinking of some themed compilations, like "Best of Cosplay," "Pied Faces and Bare Soles," "Best of Schoolgirl Uniforms," etc.
But in terms of compilations for my own personal enjoyment, I've been making simple edits of stuff I like for several years, most of them under 20 minutes long. However, the past three years I've been doing something more interesting. I have one single compilation I continue to add to little by little and re-render from time to time. It's about two hours long right now, and I'm going to start a new one soon. But the most interesting thing is how I've been putting it together: the entire compilation has the screen divided into quarters, so there's always at least four images on the screen, sometimes more. (I've put a few screenshots below to give you an idea of what I mean.)
It takes a lot more time than just putting together clips I like in a linear fashion, because there's resizing and positioning for everything I add. Plus, since it's two hours long, I've actually put together over eight hours of footage! Also, I'll sometimes add smaller inset images, for example, a small slow-motion clip of the girl's clean face next to the larger clip of her being pied. I'll also sometimes have footage of a girl being pied or slimed in a top quarter, and below it the footage of that girl's feet getting messy or giving a footjob. Basically, I've been way more creative with it than I ever thought I'd get with a video that I made for the sole purpose of jerking off to.
But it has really paid off. Since I've been careful to have all the various things I like represented somewhere on the screen at all times, I can start that video playing and then jump to any random point in that two hours and I have a mixed buffet of beautiful images on the screen. It just never gets boring at all.
It's also an awesome way to give proper attention to short clips I've picked up off of YouTube over the years, or very short clips I've taken from purchased scenes where the rest of the video didn't do much for me but I wanted to see that one 15-second long segment.
I recommend you try it if you have a lot of footage to work with. It's a nice little hobby!
