Trying to do another shoot with someone, but she's somewhat reluctant as she's not a huge fan of oatmeal, and her hair smelled like it for a week after the last shoot.
Does anyone know of anything I can mix in with this slime to make it smell more pleasant, without costing a lot, or changing the texture a whole bunch? Planning on using probably 10 gallons of slime for the shoot.
Whatever you do won't work in my experience. If someone's got a block with a particular branch of food wam, it's almost hard wired. Make it smell of what you like, the recipient still won't be keen. That's my experience. I speak as someone with some previous. Mud is my friend now. It never makes me gag. Lol.
I mix it up with only hot water rather than milk - or soya would be a good option too as previously suggested, but water is all it needs - with lots of stirring it creates its own creamy oat milk and the hot water thickens it (leave it to cool for 2 hours before using it though as it stores the heat like crazy)
I also love the ideas above of adding vanilla and cinnamon
Also don't make it the day before - oatmeal goes 'off' really quickly, and smells awful
I provide models with loads of different scented shampoos and conditioners, and a variety of combs to get oats out afterwards too. (and a mirror so they can see if anything is left)
I just wrote about this yesterday but haven't published it yet...
CLEANING UP PORRIDGE/OATMEAL
I had waist length thick hair for most of my sploshing life, so trust me when I tell you I'm your gal to tell you how to get anything out of your hair.
For short haired men & women it's not too much of a problem, lots of lemon or tea tree shampoo, maybe wash twice and comb through with conditioner if there are any bits or you just want to be sure.
For longer hair:
For longer hair covered in porridge or anything with bits. Stand under the water and let the water rinse the worst off. Use your hands to run over your head and down the length of your hair to feel where the worst is and encourage it along by gently, very gently, massaging it out. Once the worst is gone, shampoo twice with a strongly scented shampoo. Do this gently though, be careful not to rub it into your hair, rather just keep smoothing down and gently work it in with fingertips. You don't want to give yourself split ends and a bird's nest.
While your hair is wet you may not be able to feel all leftover oats, so it's best to just presume you do have some left and proceed with these instructions regardless, even if you can't feel anything weird. So now, after the initial rinse and shampooing, you need lots of conditioner and a WIDE toothed comb - don't try to comb through with a normal comb. Be patient, let conditioner soak into your hair for a while if need be, then methodically use the wide toothed comb starting at the ENDS first and working up to roots. Then rise the whole lot off and shampoo again, and condition again if needed.
If you still have porridge oats in your hair after this - don't worry! As long as you complete these steps, all the sticky goo will be gone and once your hair is dry any remaining telltale oats will simply brush out - no problem! You might want to stand on a towel to brush your hair to catch the dry oats, or have the hoover handy though! This advice also applies to body hair and pubic hair, by the way, though that tends to be easier to see and deal with.
Wow, thanks for all the advice! Guess I'll pick up some vanilla extract. I make the oatmeal right before the shoot with just water, to rule out any other potential problems.
Special thanks to CandyCustard for all the hair washing tips!

You're welcome, pretty sure it all works well, I've never had a lingering smell of oatmeal in my hair so hopefully that will help your model be more comfortable. Adding lovely smells like vanilla can only help even further too. Good luck!
