For those who consider this one of the best (albeit shortest) mainstream scenes of the last 20 or so years..... They've finally upgraded the Charmed episodes to HD now.
If they'd added several buckets of gunge, more pies, and the girls rolling round in the accumulating mess for the next 20 minutes, it would have been perfect.
I'm trying to think of a better cake scene from an actual American network TV show since. (Not a foreign show or a kids show.) It's kinda tough.
The HD actually shows more of the imperfections of the caking. Makes you wonder how many "vintage" clips people love would suffer if there was a higher-def version exposing the limitations of the scene. (A TON of great pie clips are actually shaving cream, but 480p video makes them look better than they might've been IRL.)

As Zoidberg mentioned, it doesn't stick quite as well as it appeared to in the lower-quality dubs. I've been spoiled by a couple excellent Latin American soap opera cakings, and this one isn't quite to that level.
Longtime crush Alyssa, check. Brief period where she had lovely short hair, which I love, check. Excellent hit with excellent coverage, check. Absolutely unexpected mainstream caking, with no weeks-long anticipation, no hints via social media, just one day BAM it's there on my TV, making my heart JUMP out of my chest, check. Free HD upgrade, check.
This scene is to me PERFECTION and I'll hear no complaints.
I tend to prefer that women wear their hair long, but some with exceptionally pretty faces, I actually think they look even better with short hair than long hair. And Alyssa is certainly one of those cases.

I love this caking and the fact that Alyssa was an executive producer of the show and yet was the only one seriously messed up in the food fight -- clearly she didn't do it under duress as she could've used her power to get out of getting caked. Of course, it would've been great if they ALL could've gotten caked or pied.
But honestly, if it had to be just one of the stars, I would've been equally pleased to see Rose McGowan get caked. Or, since we're playing "what if" now, an even better scenario for me would be Shannen Doherty making a return appearance to this show, walking through the door just in time to take a flying banana cream pie in the kisser. (Preferably thrown by Alyssa, since those two actresses had a major feud going on when they did the show together. And then of course it could evolve into a creamy cat fight between the two of them, with the other two sisters also eventually getting pulled into the fray.

Truthfully, whenever I see Shannon Doherty, I cannot unsee her as that little girl in Little house on the prairie.
