I was just thinking to myself the other day about a splat room.

You have heard about rage rooms where you pay money and smash things.

Imagine a room filled with pies and buckets of slime.
I think it would be a great team bonding event.
You could have mangers vs workers in a mass food/pie fight, or give them water blasters to shoot slime at each other
It doesn't take a genius to come up with a dozen games/scenarios tha could be played

The idea would be to get you own back on your work colleagues and relive any stress but due to the amount of mess and the fairly small space everyone is going to end up covered and hopefully laughing at themselves, everyone else and the situation

If anyone thinks this will work and wants to set it up go ahead just let me know where

Absolutely cheap shorts and t-shirts with logos to take home as a keepsake would be included

Maybe a bar to loosen people up too

Clean up would be a big consideration. For starters, the room would have to be right next to showers. Women would also want a place to fix their hair and blow dry it, and everyone would need lockers. Then the actual clean-up of the splat room and the mess leading to the showers, and the showers themselves, all would require a massive cleanup. Wet clothes would have to be left behind and run through washers and dryers. So in reality, it would be awesome fun but also a major headache to make this happen in the real world.

I had a similar idea. A messy themed escape room.

Keys would be hidden in desserts, and the only way to get them is to get your hands dirty.

Someone needs to be gunged in a gunge tank in order to reveal a code.

A muddy maze that you need to get on your hands and knees to crawl through.

In reality there are all kind of issues like
Dealing with the waste slops because as a business you would need a licence and probably would not be able to use the swears
Insurance what if someone slipped and hurt themselves
Making everything allergy free

The cost of all the red tape would be greater than what people would pay

Maybe if I win the lottery u could run it as non-profit or at a loss

It's a nice dream though

There's a few UK companies which do "It's A Knockout" type events, which often include a bouncy castle filled with foam. I've seen one mention gunge, and a few say there's pies to the face.

In terms of insurance/risks etc, its a very similar business model.

Waste/slops disposal- biomass/biodigester plants might be interested in buying your slops if it has a high energy return (Or pick it up for free anyway).

I'm not sure this would be as difficult as people think to be honest.

There are already businesses offering far more risky activities, all managed with some risk mitigation and appropriate waivers. When you can go and pay a company to let you jump out of a perfectly functioning aircraft or jump off a bridge with a rope tied to your ankles, a messy rage or escape room seems eminently workable.

There is a company near me that offers paint fight experiences. They don't even have shower facilities - you just get told to wear old clothes, handed a pair of goggles and off you go!

There is also a chain of slime experience places with multiple
US locations, and at the end you can be slimed, though participants wear a poncho for that.

I think the biggest hurdle would be cost - commercial rents are very high in many places, especially the UK, and the location would need a reasonable amount of money put into it to ensure it was setup to allow the level of visitor throughput it would likely require to be profitable.

You would also need a pretty strong concept/theme to ensure it was actually enticing enough for people to want to come and participate.

These are issues that could all be overcome with a sufficient amount of capital investment though.
