Just thought I'd throw out this question to try and get a thread of possible interest going for the UMD.
Would love to know what your personal favorite hands-down video is, meaning of your own oeuvre? (Yes, i used "oeuvre" in a WAM post. Yes, I'm aware that's pushing it.) Or, if you're a producer, a la Rich let's say, who tends to do multiple scenarios with one model, which of said model's clips is your favorite?
If you "cheat" and put more than one, you won't be flogged, stoned, or gunged. I just was curious if you could narrow it down to one - at least at the moment - top choice.
Like with musicians, authors and especially filmmakers, I'm always curious what of your own work you think is the strongest?
I also think it might drum up a couple sales for you, but what the heck do I know...
My personal favorites have been the ones that were attempts at being "cinematic" rather than just straight fetish videos. They were the hardest to script and shoot, but the most fun to edit,
Probably Lola and Dolly's quiz – two genuine best buddies trying to not be the one who gets gunged!
Lola and Dolly's WTF Quiz "Pied or squirted with custard for each wrong answer, and the winner gets…!?"
Who's going to win the main prize? And who'll be left with the booby prize? It's going to be messy finding out! 10 questions, 10 pies, two English babes, two gungings... the suspense is killing me!
And i like that you mention why it sort of stood out for you -- i almost asked "what was the hardest to shoot?" or something, but i figured that every producer's favorite will have some crossover (model rapport, the struggle to get something right probably and the gloriousness/epicness of the mess i figure are likely to be recurring top reasons)
My favorite was "the exorcism of Kristen Brooke" because it had so much fun story and effects and cause I truly found it giggle worthy. I literally got to make a film where the words "the power of pie compels you!!!" Are spoken. Classic.
Misfortune cookies is my #2.the model was so cool and it came together so well in the end. Definitely love that one, too.
My favourite is an as yet unreleased scene that has been made by Messy Jessie exclusively for Slymsford's Sploshers.
What I love about it is that through a contact, I managed to be able to purchase a brand new $300 dress for a fraction of that amount.
I had it posted direct from the company to Jessie, and the dress is literally opened and taken out of the box on camera
I wrote a script, and thought..dare I? dare I? and in the end I thought.."feck it..go for it", so at the end of the script this brand new dress is not only ruined by pies and gunge etc, it is then cut up and literally destroyed.
That's really cool, reverend - i like that you're exercising your interests as both a fetishist and a scenarist/director. I've long hesitated about commissioning a custom, because i say to myself "it's not even the money, really, it's....what hasn't been done that i would want to see, specifically?" But i've now come up with something that i think will be cool once the producers i've commissioned deliver it. It was really fun to "direct" it at least in an emailed scenario, and i can only imagine that seeing that dress opened by Jessie on-camera, knowing you're the one who spun the whole thing from nothing was a real point of pride and joy.
And our lives all could do with a bit more pride and joy.
I have a LOT of personal favorites... Some were big sellers, some weren't. Too many to choose from, honestly. But from a professional standpoint, the best clip I ever made was definitely the "SlapstickStuff SAW Parody." This one stands out for many reasons as it was: --a true attempt at producing a "mainstream" comedy clip with WAM elements, --a "calling card" for prospective models for years (I even show it to newbies now), --easily the most amount of work for the end result (I think I spent nearly a week on the editing... for a 4-minute clip).
FBOW I will never do something like this again. I remember being exceptionally thrilled and proud when it went "live" on YouTube and wound up as the 3rd most watching "Comedy" clip... ON THE WHOLE SITE. For almost 2 days! It's as close as I've ever come to going viral. I think it got up to almost 300,000 views in about 6 months... In fact, you can even find "response videos" on YT still.
Anyway, the opposite of that was getting the video unceremoniously pulled off YouTube one morning for "violating community standards." Along with almost ALL of the other vids on my channel at the time... All of which were 100% PG-rated, with nothing "offensive" aside from the usual mess. It was clearly a calculated effort from a couple of trolls designed to take down my channel... And it worked. I pulled the 1-2 videos that remained voluntarily and basically abandoned YT for good.
In hindsight, it was probably naive to try to create something to appeal to UMDers *and* a broader audience. Everything we do is going to be seen first and foremost through the lens of "weird fetish" to the masses... So why fight that? I still try to produce clever, funny clips, but I have no illusions that the only reason people are watching them is to see hot girls and lots of mess.
Makes me pretty happy to hear you say this, Rich (although opposite-of-happy in re: to the YouTube of it all, more on that in a sec). Frankly, anything with Toshia I thought might be your choice, and on top of THAT, i actually had in back of my mind, "I wonder if Rich would pick the SAW parody", and.....voila.
I do think it's your finest work, that said i've not seen probably about 1/4 of your work, and i only own probably 12 clips or whole sets-of-clips out of the 100-however-many you've done.
But that video i remember fondly and vividly. I was still on dial-up, but AOL disc/"advanced" dial-up back then, and first apartment ever w/o a roommate. All needless bg info ("it was the summer of 1999....a young Zach Galifianakis was just starting to break out on the comedy scene...")
Point is, you nailed everything right in that video. It was one of the best WAM parodies i had (and still have) ever seen. Color, lighting, mess, sound, everything was awesome about it.
I usually find WAM parodies to be fine but...as you say, "Just get to it already".
But i think what I'm trying to say is, it was the first time i really "connected" with your work. I was like "This guy is the 2nd coming of John Landis/Zucker Brothers." It was the best WAM-to-movie connected thing I think i'd probably seen since the "Catholic High School Girls in Trouble" pies in KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE. I grew up (still am) a HUUUUGE Zucker/Abrams/Zucker fan, and then went on to dig parodies on SNL, "Mad TV" and the like, and that's exactly what it felt like: the SNL Digital Shorts version of a WAM clip.
So, anyway: thank you for putting in all that time on that 4 minute wonder. Some of us STILL remember it fondly, and still think of you as a "frustrated" (I hate that word/what it infers) mainstream comedy filmmaker who also happens to enjoy pieing pretty girls.
I think when you go to that great Double Dare pie slide in the sky, along with Rob Blaine, this is the one they'll remember you for.
(Side note: I also like hearing when a shoot/model was difficult; not that i wish ill-will and for you to un-enjoy what you love because it's such a fucking pain in the ass, but you're a pretty honest guy far as I can tell, and have a very "eh, what can you do?" POV and so it's interesting to hear when things didn't go as planned, because usually, let's face it: your "WORST" videos are still fantastic. One of the first I ever bought was the girl with the red ALIAS wig, because she looked like Kristen Stewart back in her pre-TWILIGHT days when she seemed pretty and a good actress, and i believe you said that was one of the more limp shoots you'd ever had up to that date.)
PS Blabbing away and forgot to reference YouTube again -- i did not realize that. That whole "troll" thing was part of the reason i ducked out of here for a number of years. I just could not understand it; why would someone who i assume likes WAM/pies then go and set out to destroy you and a number of other posters/producers who were providing a lot of free content? I get it more now, but STILL kind of don't. That "If i can't have it....NO ONE SHALL, MWAHAHAHAHA!" thing blows my mind. It's just so antithetical to how i think, and i'd imagine most of us think.
Did not realize that you got shut down and so fed up you left YT, which explains why it's hard to find your trailers on there anymore. There was a period where I looked forward to each new Rich/SS trailer, because you had funny music, cool music, a theme; you knew how to "market" each girl/video, even if you were only using a fraction of a clip within the context of numerous scenes. Each girl/Volume had an identity - "Oh, that's the one where he plays "Make 'Em Laugh"; that's the "Rocky" one; that's the one where the girl says (Fill in girl saying something over and over and over again); that's the one with the hair-flips; that's the one where she's shaking/dumping stuff out of her cleavage during the water/rinse-off parts; and so on. I actually got into it almost completely removed from the pies/mess of it all -- they were just really fun to look forward to, and fun to watch. I'm sorry you don't seem to really do them anymore (can't imagine how long it takes just to put together a "Rocky themed trailer"), and that you had the whole hassle of YT and trolls to deal with. Def felt like you'd been kicked in the balls a little bit since last time i was around these parts more consistently, and was wondering why - sounds like you've dealt with a few things (including uneven sales now and then) in my absence, but i'm glad you're still here.

To b honest, I have to go along with how amazing this video was, as that girl was damn sexy, and looked very hot taking pies in that skimpy outfit.
my favorite trailer. still my bestselling vid too.
Because it's me and i can't help but be detailed/honest, i do prefer pushed to thrown pies...
...but that aside, holy fucking moly, that looks wonderful.
1) epic slimes/pours, the chocolate and vanilla (maybe?). EPIC!
2) i had a smile ear-to-ear due to the music, the editing, the whole "Thrills! Chills! Spills!" vibe of it. Kudos on that; fun stuff.
3) Sarah is GORGEOUS. Wow. I prefer brunettes, especially slightly "alt" brunettes -- interesting features, angular faces, brown eyes, etc. And, not to be crude about it, but a drop-dead fucking body/rack. I LOVE the whipping off of the clothes; has a Smiley/NETWEJ vibe about it, a "presto!!!" old fashioned burlesque magic about it.
Good stuff; this is exactly what i was hoping for - ya sold me!
I have a small catalog but I absolutely love 'Fan Mail', where I film what others think is a typical day for me and of course, 'Fluffmeggedon', where I get covered in 15 gallons of marshmallow fluff.
I'd post pics but I'm on my iPad, so pictures and trailers to both films are on my profile page.
