""Look up" slimings and geographical trends"

I've heard it suggested that looking up while being slimed is an "American thing", or more accurately a Canadian thing I suppose as it comes mostly from YCDTOTV.
This is strange to me because I'm British and I love "look up" slimings, and it's disappointing to me if they don't look up. This can't really have been triggered by anything in childhood as on programmes like NHP and GYOB, the victims didn't do it. Yes, sometimes there would happen to be good facial coverage, but they didn't voluntary look up into it and get gunged directly in the face. British WAM producers don't tend to favour it either. I think the first time I saw anyone do it properly would have been Phoebe Rodriguez in one of her videos.
I'm wondering does anyone else have WAM preferences that aren't consistent with what they watched growing up, and if so, how does this happen?

I am a "slightly" look up fan. Stare straight ahead for the first 4 or so seconds and then a slight tilt of the chin upward and it hits the forehead, then look back straight ahead. THAT is my jam, right there, sir!

The stuff that was on TV when I was growing up was mostly "dropped from above" like the gunge tank on NHP and various kids shows, although there were some exceptions like the one where people had to cross a "swamp" (and usually fell in), or sat on swings and had gunge thrown at them, or fell into a pool.

Here's the timeline (or slimeline if you will 
)
1) Green slime is invented on You Can't Do That On Television
2) On that show, some of the female actors (and one of the male ones that had long hair) began to complain about slime getting in their eyes and stinging. This happened frequently b/c when someone with long hair looks down, the thicker elements of the slop clump together in their hair, while the runnier elements stream down their scalp and follow the natural flow of one's facial curvatures, which, if looking down, means directly into your eyes!
3) To remedy this, they start directing the cast members to avoid looking down when being slimed, and encourage them to tilt their face into the slime stream, as it would prevent isolated streams running into sensitive nooks and crannies like eye sockets.
4) Since dumping green slime on ppl (and the show in general) is inherently perverse and not to mention utterly demented, a bunch of us watching it either get turned on by seeing ppl getting slimed, OR, become afraid of getting slimed ourselves, and then fetishize that fear, which leads to us getting turned on by it.
5) Years later, as we hit puberty and our sexual development comes to full fruition, we lust after the green slimings we saw when we were younger. Some of those lusting after this, become producers, who after being unable to find what they desire, choose to take it upon themselves to create it!
6) ...But it's the late 90's/early 2000's, technology isn't totally there yet, and producing video content is still difficult, not to mention many of these initial producers have no experience with filmmaking or directing and are literally just flying by the seat of their pants trying to figure out how to create content because there's no YouTube tutorials or easy ways to look stuff up and film school is expensive and these early producers are just regular ppl like you and me, except that they are bold enough to try and create something despite having no formal training or idea as to how exactly to do it. Bold. BOLD. BOLD!
7) In an effort to recreate the slimings that initially fueled their fire, these early producers instruct their models to "look up" during the slime scenes, since that's basically what they did on YCDTOTV. These models are not experienced actors though, nor are they aware of the source text that is being emulated, which often led to them looking straight up at the sky, in an unmotivated fashion, while being slimed, rather than tilting their face slightly up into the slime stream in resignation, which is what the actors on YCDTOTV did.
8) Despite not exactly nailing the desired effect, these clunky early slimings with the models looking directly up at the sky are a Fucking godsend for us slime fans, because although they're not 100% perfect, they are one million times better than the next best thing, which at this point in time was watching a girl have chocolate syrup poured on her head at the end of a pie video. I'm not kidding. Like I fucking paid HUNDREDS of dollars for videos of chocolate sauce and vanilla pudding being poured on models. And just to be clear, I like seeing chocolate sauce or vanilla pudding being poured on models a littlemore than I like getting a root canal. That's how bad the state of wam was for green slime fans back then. And I'm on the younger side of this. I have older slime friends who have told me stories about driving across thier city to check out a porn shop b/c there might be a magazine there that featured a model with whip cream smeared on her body. WHIP CREAM ON HER BODY!!! For a green slime fan!!!! That's how fucking bad things were for ycdtotv fans before Ken and Rich and co. came onto the scene.
9) All of us green slime maniacs ate up those early green slime videos like crack, because they were, like crack, and we, were like crackheads that had been getting high on low calorie sweetener prior to them. It was fucking dire out here I tell ya! And while these early producers quickly got better at nailing down a more nuanced version of the model looking up into the green slime, a generation of younger wam fans came around, and having never seen YCDTOTV, their first introduction to a model getting slimed was from those early videos made by that first wave of wam producers (like you mentioned Phoebe's green sliming in her cute sheen pink top being an influential one for you) and thus, this new generation of wam fans lusted for the model to "look up" as you have come to know it, with an emphasis on the model's face being covered by the slime, rather than the emphasis being on her reaction to the sliming being natural and based in submission and humiliation.
10) As more younger ppl come into the scene, and more younger ppl become producers, the desire for the model to "look up" becomes more prevalent, and that trend has continued thru today.
As far as why you may have come to desire this despite being from the UK, I would reckon it's because you most likely are turned on by a model getting messy. That sounds obvious given what site we're on, but for ppl like me who grew up on ycdtotv, it is not a "messy fetish" that we have. The mess is simply the tool to deliver a specific humiliation to the subject. Whereas for ppl whose taste is more centered on the actual messiness aspect, seeing the model get more coverage is mire important than a setup, trigger phrase, or specific reaction.
So you most likely got turned on seeing ppl getting messy on TV growing up, and then when you found wam content, naturally you would be drawn towards videos where the subject gets as messy as possible, I.e, looking up into the slime. Meaning, for you, the countdown, trivia questions, gunge tank or blaring klaxon weren't as fundamentally a part of what initially got you interested in wam. It was seeing the person getting messy. At least that'd be my guess

Put simply, Albie Hect doesn't have a Fucking clue when it comes to what getting green slimed is all about. That's not to say that the Nick shows of the late 90's don't have their own rightful place in slime history, and they certainly influenced a generation of ppl here, and everyone is entitled to their own tastes of course.

Im new to the scene. I didnt graduate until the 2010s so YCDTOTV or whatever I didnt even know or hear about until I came to this forum. Dont think many people of my generation who are into WAM really care about that stuff. Im more into the humiliation aspect of it. Not sure if wed keep the tradition once my generation takes over. But its interesting to know the origins. I do like sliming though but only after getting introduced to it through Pie Zone. Didnt know this was a thing till like last year. WAM is still very niche for my gen Id say. But I surely hope we become more artistic in our kinks. Tired of all the PMVs, cuck stuff, low effort onlyfans girls vids and twitch streamer/egirl stuff. We hardly have enough drive to go to school or want to seek our relationships let alone be a entrepreneur or create studios nowadays. Not all of us for sure but id say most.

That's absolutely factinating, and now I begin to understand the enormous gulf between someone who was initiated into the fetish by watching that, and those of us with very different intros to it.
I have a feeling I was actually into the general concept long before I ever saw any slapstick on a screen, as far as I know I've always had a fascination with specific types of clothing and seeing the people wearing them get wet or messy. But from a TV perspective, the main intro for most people of my generation over here was TISWAS, and that was completely anarchic with very little predictability of how or when anyone might get flanned, bucketed, or elsewise drenched. In fact tevised anarchy was the whole point of TISWAS and utterly revolutionary when it appeared.
Prior to TISWAS, all kids TV in the UK was very posh and middle class, calm and respectable. Friendly and well known national treasures reading classic childrens books out loud for the audience on Jackanory. Blue Peter teaching kids how to home-make their own toys from the odds and ends you'd find in the art room of a middle class home. Mary, Mungo, and Midge offering a view of tower-block living as the utopian fantasy it was planned as, rather then the crime-ridden, drug-infested, muggers paradise reality that it turned into.
And then along came this unbelievable new show where even the crew didn't know from one minute to the next what was going to happen, where you sometimes saw camera operators desperately pulling their equipment - and bear in mind that back then studio TV cameras were 6' tall behemoths on their own built-in rolling tripods and weighing about the same as two grown adults each - out of the way when one of the presenters randomly decided to chase someone round the studio with a bucket of water. No-one had ever seen anyrthing like it before, and to describe it as revolutionary is probably too tame for the shock and awe it created.
And of course this meant that while you knew someone, probably several someones, was going to get flanned, soaked, or both, on each show, you never really knew who, when it would happen, or what would trigger it. I remember one outside broadcast where for reasons I've long forgotten one of the presenters was standing thigh-deep in the sea, dressed in jeans and a striped top. He was deep enough in the water to be in the swells rather than the breaking waves - so with each swell, the water rose up his jeans to his waist, briefly submerging his belt and wetting his top a bit, before dropping back down to reveal the soaked trunk of his jeans - and all this filmed in medium close-up so the low-point of the water was the bottom of the frame, with his head at the top as he spoke to camera. Then there was the video for The Bucket Of Water song where the main presenters danced round a fountain getting soaked, in jeans. And then the various studio shenanagins with people locked in a cage and pelted with buckets of water, or celebrities flanned with shaving foam pies, and then pelted with buckets of water, or the various presenters getting stuff thrown or poured over them.
To me, none of it seemed remotely humiliating, it just looked like awesome fun. And I wanted to be that guy in the water with the waves washing up and down his jeans - something I did eventually achieve some years later.
But that was clearly a very different intro to "mess as pleasure" than those early YCDTOTV shows - which at the time were not available in the UK, as we only had three channels, sattelite wasn't yet a thing, and cable TV was an unknown thing we occasionally heard about in American movies.
And even when a few years later gunge tanks on shows became a thing, I don't remember anyone either looking up or tilting their head back. Most just took it stoically while lookinng forward, others would hunch forwards and down and largely spoil the effect, something I think studio hands eventually told people not to do, as those were relatively rare.

Funny, cause for me one is surely hotter but it would be hard to get off to either alone because its just a picture.

In the end, it was just like watching liquid pies to the face, and that wasn't what I signed up for - I wanted to see the gradual process from surprised facial expression to head tilted slightly back in defeat, with the occasional (underrated) head shake at the end. The slime recipe also does also play a part in the appropriate effect - too thick or gooey and it again obscures the subject's reaction.

And lest this become a further dissection of the art of a YCDTOTV slime scene (too late), I will just echo that they are always better with context and build-up - watching mess happen without rhyme or reason just doesn't have the same satisfaction to it.

Then, when the picture finally finished downloading, I had to move it to a hidden folder on the hard-drive (which I would later find out was not hidden at all), and then wait until the following day! to actually print it out, having only the brief window of time between when my brothers left for sports and my parents hadn't gotten back yet from work to sneakily use the printer (and god help me if it was the summer!).
AND THEN, I had to wait another 5-6 hours until it was time to shower before bed, so that I could walk to the bathroom with the printed out jpeg hidden in the back of my bathrobe, the edge of it securely being held between my buttcheeks like fucking prison contraband, all so that I could finally almost 24 hours later, spend some quality time with my prize.
P.S. Do you know how fucking hard it is to masturbate in the shower with a printed piece of paper and keep it from gettting wet?!?!

I also apologize for getting the slime recipe totally wrong in that first SS06 clip. Came out way too watery. I did better with Tracy in SS07 (thick slime, black bikini).

I think the explanation for the "look up" thing is a lot simpler, and it's the same reason a pie in the face is hot but a pie on top of the head isn't. This fetish of ours is a metaphor for sex, gunge is an analog for jizz, so when we see someone slimed or pied in the face, our brains (with their crossed wires) think we're seeing them get a facial.

For me I didn't have cable so didn't know any of the shows that have influenced a lot of wammers till YouTube came around and I was able to access them. A lot of my influences are actually from feeling substances I've used on my body while experiencing things like mud and water in the context of being outside. Like walking home in a rainstorm or hiking and falling into mud by a waterfall.
